Brendon looked at them with a cold expression.
“Brendon?” Makhi was momentarily stunned, then his expression turned indifferent. “Since you’re here, I’ll leave the rest to you.”
Makhi politely exited the room.
“Thank you. Can you go check on Olivia for me?” Ranita smiled at Makhi.
He nodded. “Sure.”
As Makhi left, Ranita took a deep breath and was about to speak to Brendon when she heard his cold voice asking, “You have a good relationship with Makhi, huh?”
Ranita raised an eyebrow.
“What do you mean?” She felt there was more to his words. “We got injured, and it was thanks to Mr. Terry that he drove us to the hospital. Can’t you stop causing trouble?”
“What did I say that made you defend him like that?” Brendon felt uncomfortable. The picture of Makhi in the album resurfaced in his mind.
Who would have thought that the hidden picture beneath the photo Ranita cherished would be of Makhi?
Was he the one she admired?
In hindsight, it made sense. They were both students at Kurima Foreign Studies University and had probably met before. If Makhi hadn’t suddenly gone abroad, would she have married him? Would they have been living together in a blissful life…
He had no place in her life.
Just thinking about it made Brendon feel suffocated.
“Ranita…” Brendon looked down at her, his dark, slightly cold eyes pained him, making it hard for him to control his emotions. “Am I causing trouble? Who is he to you? Touching your feet, applying ice… You…”
Brendon couldn’t continue, overwhelmed with anger.
“Isn’t this causing trouble?!” Ranita’s cheeks hurt from the anger, although her heart felt cold.
Couldn’t that bastard Brendon trust her a bit more?
“You can leave. I don’t need you to take care of me.” Ranita bent down to apply the ice pack herself, her face turning iron-cold as she tried to usher him away.
When Ranita turned cold, she seemed distant.
She was originally sitting down, and with the tight-fitting skirt she was wearing, bending down was uncomfortable, not to mention having to hold onto the ice pack all the time.
After a while, she started feeling discomfort in her abdomen. Just as she was about to get up slowly, she saw a palm reaching out, taking the ice pack from her, and a somewhat annoyed voice said, “If I’m not taking care of you, can you take care of yourself?”
Ranita suddenly became furious.
Wasn’t it him who made her angry in the first place? Ranita lifted her foot, wanting to kick Brendon away, but he grabbed her calf with his big hand.
“Don’t move, your leg is injured!” Brendon raised an eyebrow, his tone somewhat angry. “You used to be gentle and considerate. Why are you so fond of kicking people now?”
Since they had reunited, this woman had kicked him several times already.
“You said it yourself, it’s in the past!” Ranita sneered. “Shannon, on the other hand, is gentle and considerate, and delicate. Why don’t you go find her?”
Brendon squatted by her leg, applying the ice pack, and said with lowered eyes, “Do women always bring up old grudges?”
Ranita gritted her teeth. “Yes, I do bring up old grudges. Let go of me and leave me alone!”
After a pause, Ranita narrowed her eyes and smirked as she took out her phone. “I’ll ask Mr. Terry for help.”
Brendon snatched her phone away, his expression stern. “Is it your intention to infuriate me like this?”
“Heh, Mr. Stuart, you’ve misunderstood. We have nothing to do with each other. Why would I want to anger you?” Ranita forced a smile and winked at him. “Don’t touch me again. If you touch me again, I…”
Before she could finish her sentence, her neck was gripped tightly.
Brendon silenced her with a kiss.
