Ranita ran out, but she could still hear his low laughter at the doorway.
She gritted her teeth, feeling frustrated.
“Mommy! What are you doing?” Just then, Ayaan ran over, looking pitiful, and hugged her leg. “Mommy, where is this place?”
“Ayaan!” Ranita squatted down and hugged him, explaining, “This is where I used to live. Didn’t I explain it to you last night in the car? Don’t you remember?”
Ayaan shook his head in a daze. “I don’t remember.”
“I woke up thinking it was a dream.”
Ranita smiled. “It’s not a dream. Your dad brought us here last night!”
Just as they were talking, the doorbell rang.
It was someone from Brendon’s staff delivering something. The person brought in a box and politely said, “If anything is missing, please have Caleb contact me.”
The person left quickly.
Ranita packed up with Ayaan and changed her clothes. The child was curious about the house, looking around and touching things, and finally found a photo album in the bookshelf.
“Mommy, what’s this?”
“This…” Ranita’s heart skipped a beat, and she quickly reached out and took it. “It’s nothing. This is something a child like you can’t see. Leave it to me.”
It was a photo album, containing several photos of Brendon. When Ranita left before, she had searched for it for a long time, thinking she had lost it, but it turned out she hadn’t taken it with her.
“Mommy, this is clearly a photo album…” Ayaan crossed his arms, pouting unhappily.
“Ayaan, what’s wrong?” Just then, Brendon came out, picked up Ayaan with one hand, and walked over to Ranita, asking, “What’s going on?”
“Nothing!” Ranita hid the photo album behind her back and gave Ayaan a signal with her eyes.
But Ayaan was still upset and immediately betrayed her. He blinked at Brendon and said, “Daddy, I found a photo album, but Mommy said I can’t see it.”
“Mommy’s lying. I saw it, and there are pictures of Daddy inside.” After saying that, Ayaan giggled and whispered to Brendon, “Daddy, you used to look so handsome.”
Brendon’s lips curled up, he touched his son’s head, and said, “Am I not handsome now?”
“You’re handsome now too.” Ayaan nodded. “You look as good as me.”
Brendon smiled and his gaze fell on Ranita, raising an eyebrow. “Can I take a look at the album?”
Ranita didn’t want to, so she hid the album behind her.
“Ayaan is just talking nonsense. It’s not a photo album. There are no pictures of you either.” The more Ranita tried to hide it, the more curious Brendon became. “Let me see?!”
“Ayaan said there are pictures of me. As the protagonist, can’t I take a look?”
Ranita glared at Ayaan. That little brat betrayed her. She’ll see if she doesn’t spank him later.
Ayaan covered his face, revealing his dark eyes, and giggled, “Mommy, you’re angry with me.”
“Ayaan, why don’t you go brush your teeth first? Daddy wants to talk to Mommy.”
Ayaan looked at Brendon, then at Ranita, and understandingly ran off.
Only the two of them remained in the bedroom, with the man staring at her. “Can I take a look?”
“I don’t…” Ranita didn’t have a chance to finish her sentence before the man forcefully grabbed her, his long arms easily overpowering her, and he effortlessly snatched the album away.
“Hey, give it back!” Ranita tiptoed, trying to snatch it back, but Brendon’s height advantage made it difficult for her to reach.
“You really won’t let me see?” Brendon didn’t immediately open it, but pressed the corner of his eyes and asked her, his lips curling upwards, showing that he was in a good mood.
