The box was thrown out directly.
Ranita raised an eyebrow as the box overturned, and several dead rats rolled out of it.
The rats were killed, covered in blood, a sight that made people uncomfortable.
“Oh my God! What’s going on…” The hotel staff was quite scared.
Ranita felt disgusted as well.
She tried not to look at the floor, suppressing her disgust as she said, “Call your manager and have someone come to clean up. Also, disinfect the area.”
Soon, the hotel manager arrived and upon seeing Ranita, he apologized with a forced smile, “Miss Bowman, I’m truly sorry.”
The hotel manager’s expression wasn’t good. They were a high-class hotel, and even though the items were sent to Ranita, they failed to properly inspect them, allowing dirty things to enter the hotel and be delivered to a guest. If other guests found out, they would surely complain!
“I will immediately arrange for cleaning and disinfection, and I’ll also instruct the front desk to be more cautious.”
The hotel manager hesitated and said, “Miss Bowman, if you have any other requests, please feel free to let us know. We…”
“I think it’s better to call the police. I didn’t give my address to anyone, but the package was sent directly to the hotel for me. I’m afraid…”
Upon hearing this, the hotel manager quickly contacted the police they had previously dealt with.
Since they contacted the police, they didn’t dare to clean up the dirty things on the floor. They waited until the police arrived and asked about the situation before cleaning up.
According to the police’s opinion, she was likely being targeted, and the police would investigate as soon as possible. However, they still reminded her to be cautious about her safety.
After more than two hours of commotion, it was already past midnight. Ranita, who had touched the cardboard box, washed her hands for twenty minutes before finally feeling at ease.
She already had some trouble sleeping, and now she was even more alert.
Someone broke into her room in the middle of the night, made harassing phone calls, spilled blood, and sent threatening dead rats… even the most oblivious person would notice something strange.
Someone was watching her and trying to mess with her.
But who could it be?
Holly? Unlikely. She had a bad temper, but Ranita couldn’t imagine her doing something like this. Or was it Shannon? Ranita thought Shannon had the highest possibility…
But there was no evidence.
Ranita frowned. She had to catch the person.
“Buzz, buzz, buzz!” Her phone vibrated, and Ranita picked it up. Seeing Brendon’s name, her heart skipped a beat. “Why is he calling me so late?”
“Ranita, where are you? I called you many times, but you didn’t answer.”
Ranita felt a bit dizzy in her head. “I’m sorry, something came up just now…”
“Open the door.”
“Huh?”
“I’m outside your door. Open it.” The man’s voice came in duet-like from both the phone and outside the door.
Ranita looked at the person at the door, feeling a bit stunned.
“Why did you come here? It’s so late…” Ranita hadn’t finished her sentence when the man strode in, closed the door, held her hand, and without saying a word, simply stared at her quietly.
Ranita felt her scalp tingling under his gaze.
“What’s wrong…” Her voice trembled a bit due to guilt.
Brendon didn’t speak. Using his tall figure, he pressed her, making her continuously step back until she bumped against the wall with a thud.
A shadow loomed over her, accompanied by slightly hurried breath, gently falling upon her eyelids.
Ranita swallowed and looked up at him with her slender neck. “What’s wrong with you?”
The overhead ceiling light was orange, casting a soft glow on the man’s sharp contours, seemingly creating a halo with a fuzzy aura.
That face, noble and incredibly captivating.
Ranita’s heart was about to jump out of her chest.
