“Ranita, you’re truly malicious!” Holly rushed over, ready to hit her, but the next second, she was accurately held back.
Holly looked up and met Brendon’s dark eyes. She shrank her neck and timidly retreated, “Brother, what are you doing here?”
“Holly, did you treat my words as if they were nothing?” Brendon said calmly, and Holly’s hand trembled in fear as she spoke pitifully, “Brother, I’m your sister, your family. Why are you so biased?”
“Holly, if you weren’t my sister, do you think you could stand here and shout at me?”
Holly was speechless.
“I…” Holly looked at Brendon, then at her friends beside her. Feeling embarrassed, her face flushed, and she stomped her feet, “Brother, why are you so blind to good intentions? What’s so good about her? You don’t even care about your sister and mother anymore.”
“Well, I hate her!”
The argument attracted onlookers, and Brendon stared at Holly with cold eyes.
Holly was so scared that she didn’t dare to speak anymore. She stomped her feet, turned her head, and ran away.
“Are you okay?” Brendon didn’t care about Holly, he asked Ranita softly, “Her temperament will cause trouble sooner or later.”
Brendon wasn’t neglecting his role as an elder brother, but Amiya intervened.
He was busy with company matters all day, and gradually, he became lazy to deal with it. He was strict, but Amiya secretly spoiled her, rendering his efforts ineffective.
“I’m fine! Let’s go!” Their family attracted attention because they all looked good. Many passersby glanced at them.
Brendon also didn’t like being watched, so he held Ayaan in one hand and held Ranita’s hand as they walked towards the parking lot.
Ranita was brought to the entrance of her room and said, “You should go home now!”
“You won’t let me in?” Brendon looked at Ayaan and gestured to him.
“Daddy, you should go home quickly! Goodnight!” Ayaan waved goodbye directly.
Brendon felt a pang in his heart.
He had spent the whole evening playing games with the child.
Ranita pulled Ayaan inside and decisively closed and locked the door.
Brendon smirked, didn’t knock on the door, and turned around to go home. But before going home, he made a trip to Makhi’s apartment.
It was quite a coincidence that Makhi lived in the same complex where Ranita used to live. Brendon still had the access card from years ago.
“Brendon, why are you here?” Makhi was surprised. “Come in and have a seat.”
After sitting down, Brendon spoke, “Have a drink?”
“You’re driving, so just have some water.”
Makhi poured him a glass of water. “Is there something specific you came to see me for?”
Brendon stared at Makhi and looked him over. They were related, and while they looked similar in some facial features, they were different in other aspects.
“What’s going on between you and Ranita?”
Makhi was taken aback, then smiled and said, “Are you talking about what happened this afternoon? Ranita came to the company in the morning to discuss cooperation, and we had lunch together. After lunch…”
Makhi briefly explained and sighed, “I don’t know who it was, but someone suddenly threw something at her. Fortunately, it wasn’t a dangerous liquid, or else it would have been dangerous.”
“Brendon, you have a wide network in Kurima. Can you help and see if you can find out who did it? If it was just an accident, then let it be bad luck. But if someone did it intentionally…” Makhi paused, worriedly saying, “I’m afraid she’s being targeted. Who knows if she’ll encounter more danger in the future?”
“I’ve only recently returned to Kurima, so I’m not very familiar with the environment here.”
Brendon nodded and pursed his lips, asking, “Are you concerned about her?”
