As for what kind of blood it was, Ranita couldn’t believe it.
“Here, you have some on your face, quickly wipe it off!” Makhi handed her a handkerchief and turned to look for the person who had splashed them.
But by then, the person had already fled, leaving only a receding figure.
“Stop!” Makhi wanted to chase after them, but Ranita held him back. “Don’t chase them, go clean yourself up! We don’t know what’s in that liquid, it could be toxic or harmful to the skin!”
Makhi reluctantly agreed. “You’re right…” he sighed. “There’s a hotel nearby, let’s go clean up. By the way, what size clothes do you wear? I’ll have my secretary bring them over.”
Ranita felt a bit embarrassed but still gave Makhi her size.
Makhi’s secretary arrived quickly, carrying a sealed bag to put their dirty clothes in.
Ranita didn’t have much blood on her, so she quickly cleaned up and changed into a new top. Makhi, on the other hand, was in a worse state. His entire back was stained, and his pants were also soiled, so he needed to take a shower.
Feeling guilty about the incident, Ranita said, “It seems like that person was targeting me. I’ve caused trouble for you, I’m really sorry.”
“Don’t worry about it! Helping others is a noble virtue, especially since you’re my junior. How could I just stand by and do nothing?” Makhi reassured her.
The two of them chatted for a while, and then Makhi’s secretary returned, informing them that the blood on their clothes was from an animal!
“Ranita, did you offend someone? Should we report this to the police?” Makhi expressed his concern.
Ranita furrowed her brows. “I have no idea about this!”
“As for reporting it to the police, we didn’t see the person, so it probably wouldn’t be of much use,” Makhi sighed. “You’re right. But if it had been something other than blood, like sulfuric acid, it could have been fatal! You need to find out the truth as soon as possible.”
In Kurima, Shannon and Amiya were Ranita’s biggest enemies. Could it be their doing? But there was no evidence, and the police wouldn’t believe her without proof.
“Um, thank you for your concern, Mr. Terry. I… will be careful!” Ranita replied.
They should have returned earlier, but with this incident, it was already around four o’clock.
Makhi was worried about her going back alone and offered to accompany her.
This time, Ranita didn’t refuse. The previous incident had truly shaken her. When they arrived at the hotel entrance, Ranita asked for her dirty clothes stained with animal blood and was about to thank Makhi when an irritated voice rang out, “Ranita!”
A tall man rushed over like the wind and grabbed her wrist. “Where did you go? I’ve been trying to call you, but couldn’t reach you.”
After a moment’s pause, Brendon noticed Makhi in the car and frowned. “Makhi, why are you the one escorting her back?”
“We encountered a little trouble…” Makhi started to explain, but Ranita interrupted and smiled at Makhi. “Thank you for bringing me back.”
Makhi’s gaze fell on Brendon, who was holding the woman’s hand, and he pursed his lips. “Alright, I’ll leave now.”
“Brendon, let’s have a meal together sometime.”
As the car slowly drove away, Ranita was thinking about how to explain the situation to Brendon when he said sourly, “So reluctant, do you want me to call him back for you?”
Ranita gritted her teeth. “Brendon!”
“Hmm?” Brendon snorted and stared at her. “Ranita, did you go to the hotel with Makhi?”
