Sometimes, the answers we seek are ones we cannot bear.
“Well, you go then! Stay safe on the road,” Ranita said quietly, waving him goodbye.
Seeing her listless expression, Brendon explained sincerely, “It’s not because of Shannon, it’s Caleb who has an urgent matter.”
Ranita’s heart throbbed painfully, but she maintained a tough front. “Is that so? Why are you explaining it to me… I don’t care where you’re going.”
Her eyes reddened at the corners, and she shot him a sideways glance, accompanied by a hint of coquettishness. Brendon couldn’t help but feel an itch in his heart.
Brendon had heard Allen say before that falling in love had no template, it just happened. Now he fully understood. His feelings for Ranita were perhaps born out of familiarity, but regardless, his feelings had come, unbidden and unexpected, regardless of his intentions.
“Well… I wanted to tell you something,” Brendon raised his eyebrows and smiled.
Ranita’s heart suddenly felt as sweet as honey.
“Hurry up and go, don’t keep Shannon waiting anxiously,” Ranita urged, her tone soft and gentle, tinged with a hint of delight.
Brendon reluctantly left.
Brendon arrived at the address Caleb had given him, the office of Tranquil Valley Private Hospital.
“Hmm?” Caleb immediately went out as Brendon entered. “I heard you have something to say directly to me.”
Carlee knew that she couldn’t hide it any longer, no matter what.
The Stuart family was one of the shareholders, and there was nothing Brendon couldn’t find out if he investigated the hospital from top to bottom.
“Yes!” Carlee’s expression wasn’t great. “Shannon indeed wasn’t pregnant.”
“But she did it because she cared too much about you. She was afraid she couldn’t keep you, afraid you would change your mind and break your promises. That’s why she resorted to this extreme measure.”
“At the beginning, I advised her against it, but she cried and begged me, saying she couldn’t live without you. If you didn’t stay with her, she wouldn’t be able to go on.”
“Brendon, considering Shannon’s feelings for you, can you not blame her? She really cares about you!” Carlee paused and continued, “Brendon, Shannon just wanted to reclaim the love she deserved. She’s not in the wrong.”
“If you want to blame someone, blame me. I helped her conceal the truth and even fabricated the documents.”
Brendon pursed his lips, his smile turning cold. “You don’t have to bother yourself with these matters anymore. Leave the hospital, leave Kurima.”
Brendon turned coldly and walked away.
Seeing his troubled expression, Caleb approached and asked, “Mr. Stuart, are you okay? Do you need me to drive you back?”
Caleb also learned some things and never expected Shannon to do something like this. He couldn’t help but feel a sense of regret.
