Brendon approached her.
Extending his hand, he tightly embraced her. “Ranita, can we go back? I want to continue being your husband.”
“Ranita, can we give each other a chance?” Brendon held her fingers, his voice low and deep, as gravelly as rolling waves with sand. “Stand firm with me.”
He only wanted her heart, as long as she had him in her heart, that was enough.
Ranita’s heart felt like it was propped up by straw, extremely uncomfortable.
These words, she had been waiting for them for many, many years, waiting so long that she thought she would never have the chance to hear them in this lifetime. Ranita’s eyes felt sour, tears threatening to roll down.
She didn’t know what to do…
The emotions she had hoped for finally received a response, which should have made her happy, excited even, but her heart was incredibly bitter and painful, and she didn’t know what to do.
Brendon didn’t rush her, but gave her enough time to think, to calm her emotions.
In the darkness, he still held her tightly.
Their shallow breaths intertwined, as if their hearts had drawn closer. Ranita’s emotions gradually stabilized, and her mind regained its ability to think.
“Brendon, can you let go first, please?”
“Ranita…”
“My… legs are numb.” Ranita said hesitantly.
Brendon chuckled softly.
With their closeness, Ranita could feel his chest vibrating.
Suddenly, Ranita’s heart warmed up, and she pursed her lips. “Turn on the light.”
“Okay!” Brendon responded, reaching out to press the switch.
As the light came on, their figures were no longer concealed. She was still being held by him, and the light shone on his neck, casting a layer of shadow, quiet and beautiful.
Ranita calmed down. She struggled out of the man’s embrace and felt a bit thirsty. She picked up the mineral water from the table, intending to open it, but the man reached out, took it, and opened it for her. “Here.”
“Thank you.” Ranita took a few sips of water, feeling refreshed.
“Brendon, I can’t give you an answer right now. Let me think about it.” Ranita pursed her lips, her eyelashes drooping. “You should go back first!”
Although Ranita didn’t agree immediately, after being husband and wife with him for several years, she had some understanding of him. Brendon should have seen some loosening in Ranita’s attitude.
Brendon’s heart burned with excitement.
He leaned in closer, quickly kissed her on the face, “Then I’ll go back.”
Ranita was annoyed, but Brendon had already left.
Ranita closed the door, bit her lip, and couldn’t help but smile. After packing her luggage, Ranita called Alexia via video chat. Ayaan immediately came over and sweetly shouted, “Mommy, I’m Ayaan.”
“Ayaan, are you being good at home?”
“Of course, Mommy!”
Alexia smiled, her face full of smiles. Ever since Ayaan moved back to the family, Alexia’s days had been very fulfilling, and Benedict’s illness had also improved quickly.
“You don’t have to worry. We’ll take good care of Ayaan!”
Ranita smiled, “Thank you, Mom, for your hard work.”
“Not hard! It’s you who’s working hard running around for the company. Your father feels very guilty.” Alexia sighed, “How are you getting along with Chole?”
“Not bad.” Ranita casually replied, then heard Alexia ask, “You seem to be in a good mood today. Did something good happen?”
“Ah…” Ranita thought of Brendon and felt her cheeks heat up. She covered her face, suppressing her silly smile, “Nothing, just met a friend I haven’t seen in a long time, so I’m happy.”
