The giant figure stood before her like a mountain, the man’s strong arms tightly gripping her waist, causing her pain. The warmth pressed against her, especially the hot breath brushing against the side of her face, spreading to her ears, making Ranita’s heart start to flutter.
“Brendon, how did you get up here?” The hotel was a five-star establishment, and one couldn’t access the floors without a keycard. How did she, with her low alertness, not notice Brendon following her?
“Never mind how I got up here. Besides being a VIP customer, I’m also an investor in this hotel. How do you think I got up?” Brendon’s voice was low. The room was dark, and she couldn’t see his expression, but she knew he was probably a bit angry.
His tone was biting.
“Let go of me!” After Ranita spoke, she felt Brendon getting even closer to her, pressing against her body, the temperature rising.
Ranita swallowed nervously, her spine stiffening in fear.
“Brendon…” Her voice trailed off as the man’s lips landed precisely on her ear, the cartilage tickling and hurting, leaving a row of teeth marks.
“Ranita, why are you ignoring me? Did I do something wrong?” His deep voice sounded particularly seductive in the darkness.
Ranita’s fear turned into tension and unease. She took a quick breath, wanting to move her face away, but unexpectedly, her lips brushed against something warm.
Ranita was startled.
Did she just kiss him?
Her mind finally caught up, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to…” Before she could finish her sentence, Brendon started kissing her.
Passionate and urgent, as if he wanted to devour her in one bite.
She struggled desperately, but she couldn’t break free from his restraint. Ranita was being pulled painfully, her lips going numb from the kisses!
Ranita’s heart ached like a knife.
Who did Brendon think he was? What did he treat her as…? A sense of grievance surged, turning into intense tears.
Salty tears mixed with the passionate kisses, and Brendon finally stopped.
He said softly, “Ranita, I’m sorry.” His fingers wiped away her tears, very gently, very tenderly. “Don’t cry.”
Ranita’s tears flowed even more fiercely, wetting his palm.
Brendon’s heart twisted. “Ranita, please stop crying, okay? I won’t kiss you anymore.”
“It’s my fault. I apologize to you.”
Brendon hugged her gently, but Ranita’s tears didn’t stop. In the silent darkness, all that remained besides their breathing was her sobbing.
“Ranita… please say something…” Brendon’s heart broke from her crying.
“Thud!” Ranita raised her hand and punched his shoulder, gritting her teeth and roaring, “Brendon, you jerk!”
“Who do you think you are? Just because you say you like me, do I have to like you too? You say we should remarry, so we remarry. You want to kiss me, so I should just go along with it… What am I to you? A source of amusement in your boring life?”
“Or do you feel that having a fiancée isn’t enough, and you need more excitement?”
Ranita held her breath, forcefully pushing Brendon away, lowering her head and laughing softly, “Brendon, please stop bothering me, okay?”
Her laughter was filled with grievance and sadness.
Brendon explained, “No, it’s not like that, Ranita… I want to be with you. When I return to Kurima this time, I will break off the engagement with Shannon…”
Ranita’s heart was in turmoil, filled with pain and yet also filled with elusive hope.
