Chapter 543 Too Bitchy

Book:A Successful Career After Divorce Published:2024-6-4

“I…” Shannon looked pitifully at Brendon. “Brendon, my hand really hurts. I don’t want to be separated from you!”
As she spoke, she grabbed his clothes in distress.
Allen rolled his eyes silently and bent over, regardless of Shannon’s protests. “Shannon, why don’t you let me carry you!”
Reluctantly, Shannon complied when she saw Allen approaching.
Allen found a doctor to help treat Shannon’s fingers. They were a bit swollen and needed ice packs. Shannon pitifully held onto Brendon’s hand and asked, “Brendon, will my hand be okay?”
“It will be fine!” Brendon reassured Shannon patiently.
“Is that true? Really?” Tears welled up in Shannon’s eyes, and she looked at Brendon with fragile eyes. “But I’m so scared!”
“Brendon, I just wanted to apologize to Ranita, but I didn’t expect… her to be so heartless… I rely on these hands for a living! If my hands are damaged… I might as well not live anymore!”
Shannon said, burying herself in Brendon’s embrace once again.
Allen couldn’t stand it anymore and rolled his eyes. “Miss Murphy, I don’t think it’s all Ranita’s fault. She is Brendon’s ex-wife, and you are his current fiancée. There’s nothing more to say about it. Why did you willingly walk into that situation?”
“I… just wanted to apologize… that’s all…” Shannon’s face turned pale from the criticism. She looked at Allen with a grievous expression. “Allen, I know you have a good relationship with Ranita, but you shouldn’t be so biased!”
“I…” Allen didn’t finish his sentence before Brendon interrupted him. “Alright, you should go rest for now!”
“Brendon! You…” Allen wanted to remind him, but seeing Brendon’s indifferent expression and the slight smirk on his lips, he decided not to say anything more.
Brendon was just too arrogant!
Let him regret it in the future.
Perhaps it was Shannon’s doing, or maybe Brendon took action, but the online rumors suddenly disappeared. As soon as it was daylight, Ranita took Ayaan to the hospital.
They stayed for two days, and once Ayaan had recovered enough, he was formally discharged.
“Ranita, are you okay?” Jedidiah asked, worried, as he saw Ranita’s strained expression.
“Mommy, what’s wrong?” Ayaan asked with great concern, climbing onto Ranita’s lap. “Mommy, are you feeling unwell?”
“No! I’m fine!” Ranita caressed his head. “We’re going back to Grandpa and Grandma’s house soon. Ayaan, remember to behave, okay?”
“Yeah! I will!” The little one nodded earnestly.
Jedidiah chuckled. “Don’t scare him. It sounds like our home is a dangerous place. Both Dad and Mom are looking forward to your return!”
Benedict was currently at home, with professional caregivers hired to take care of him, so Alexia didn’t need to rush around.
Ranita hadn’t been home in nearly seven years.
Since she started college, she only visited once a year during summer or winter break, and sometimes she didn’t even go home during those times. After moving into Boulderland Mansion, their contact had become even less frequent.
Ranita was still a bit nervous.
As soon as the car arrived at the entrance, Alexia came out to greet them. “Ranita, Ayaan, you’re back!”
“Mom! We’re back!” Ranita called out softly, while Ayaan happily hugged Alexia’s legs and sweetly said, “Grandma! I missed you so much!”
Alexia joyfully took out a big gift bag and handed it to him. “This is a welcome gift for you, Ayaan!”
“Thank you, Grandma!” The little one graciously accepted it and handed the bag to Ranita. “Mommy, keep it safe!”
