It didn’t hurt that much at first, but after Brendon asked her the question, she suddenly felt a sharp pain. She looked at him with heavy eyes and choked out, “It hurts.”
“Then come on!” Brendon took her hand and pulled her outside.
Although his face didn’t look good, his voice was unexpectedly gentle.
Ranita suppressed the fluttering in her heart.
“Brendon!” Ranita struggled. “Let go of me! It doesn’t really hurt that much! My dad is still in surgery. I have to go back!”
“Your dad? Ha ha!” Brendon sneered. “That’s Jedidiah’s father. His children are all here; why do you think it’s your turn to show filial piety?”
Ranita heard the sarcasm in his tone and murmured through pursed lips, “My dad is a good person and has always been good to me. Why are you talking like this?”
Brendon gritted his teeth. He didn’t want to hear anything she had to say.
“Ranita!” After thinking about it for a while, Brendon decided he couldn’t just let things end like this. He stopped walking and towered over Ranita as he asked her, “Tell me if you have any relationship with Jedidiah.”
“His sister isn’t very friendly towards you and Jedidiah doesn’t seem to be on your side either,” he continued. “Do you really want to become an abused little wife in the Bowman family?”
Ranita raised an eyebrow without emotion in her voice as she replied, “Isn’t that what happened when I was at Boulderland Mansion before?”
“Brendon,” she said coldly while trying to provoke him further, “If you’re free enough, then go find Shannon instead of bothering me.”
Brendon became even more furious.
Was Ranita trying to make him angry?
Brendon pulled Ranita out with a dark expression on his face. He found a nurse and asked for a tube of ointment, along with a cotton swab, forcefully applying some medicine to Ranita.
“I’ll reapply it later.” Brendon placed the ointment in her hand. “You really don’t listen. I told you to wait for me in Slovenia, but you came to Steland instead.”
“What about Ayaan?”
Mentioning Ayaan made Ranita feel a little better. “He’s at the hotel. Someone is taking care of him, so don’t worry!” Then Ranita cautiously asked, “Brendon, you’re going to marry Shannon, and Ayaan and I don’t want to cause you trouble. Miss Murphy might also have reservations about seeing Ayaan…”
Brendon grabbed her hand. “I won’t marry her. I won’t marry Shannon.”
Her heart suddenly skipped a few beats.
He wasn’t planning to marry Shannon?
But then, Ranita felt a sense of disappointment. Marriage wasn’t just between two people. Even if Brendon didn’t want to get married, would Amiya agree? Would Shannon agree? And there was the family behind Shannon…
“Whether you get married or not, it’s none of my business. You don’t have to tell me…” Ranita’s words were interrupted by Brendon. “It is my business! Ranita, this is the third time I’m telling you, I want to remarry you.”
The man’s eyes gazed deeply into hers. They were the most beautiful eyes she had ever seen, both cold-hearted and fatally attractive.
Like a moth to a flame, she was willing to risk it all.
“So, Ranita… Can you turn back and look at me?” Brendon tilted his head and looked at her seriously. “Can you stop liking Jedidiah?”
Ranita pinched her fingers.
Her heart was in turmoil.
Suddenly, Brendon’s phone rang, and Ranita’s thoughts cleared up a bit. Without even looking, she knew it must be Shannon calling him.
Brendon answered the call and frowned. “Ranita, go handle things for now. I’ll find you later.”
The man walked away swiftly.
An icy chill settled in Ranita’s heart.
