When it came to marriage, Brendon’s mind was a mess.
He didn’t want to marry Shannon.
“Let’s talk about the wedding later, Shannon!” Brendon said expressionlessly. His phone rang just in time for him to find an excuse and leave the hospital.
As soon as Brendon left, Shannon smashed a glass directly.
She knew Ranita showing up couldn’t be good news!
“Creak!” Suddenly, the door of the ward was pushed open and Shannon looked at the unfamiliar woman unhappily and said, “Who are you? This is my ward.”
“You’re Shannon?” Chole smiled and walked closer. “Let me introduce myself. My name is Chole, Ranita’s sister.”
Chole looked down at Shannon and continued, “Earlier I saw you enter the elevator with Ranita together but when you came out it seemed like things weren’t going well!”
Shannon looked at Chole suspiciously and didn’t quite believe her, “You say you’re Ranita’s sister? As far as I know, Ranita doesn’t have any siblings. Her family is very poor.”
“Strictly speaking she does not have any siblings,” Chole said with a smile on her face. “She was an unlucky bug who got adopted by my parents!”
Birds of a feather flock together; in just one or two sentences from Chole, Shannon knew they were both people who hated Ranita equally!
“Oh I see,” said Shannon softly with laughter in her voice. “Miss Bowman, nice to meet you!”

Ranita joined the Bowman family in front of the operating room.
Jedidiah and Alexia were talking to Benedict on the hospital bed, but when they saw Ranita, they immediately made room for her. “Ranita, come here!”
“Dad! Everything will be fine! We’re waiting for you outside,” Ranita reassured him.
Benedict patted Ranita’s hand and sighed, “Where’s Chole? Why hasn’t she come?”
“She said she went to the restroom just now. She’ll be here soon,” Jedidiah quickly explained. “Dad, focus on the surgery.”
The surgery began, and everyone waited outside.
Ranita noticed that Alexia didn’t look well, so she went to help her pour some water. Unexpectedly, as she turned around, she was bumped into, causing some of the hot water in the cup to spill onto the back of her hand.
The scalding hot water stuck to her skin, causing intense pain.
Fortunately, Ranita’s hand was steady enough, so not all of it spilled out. Otherwise, her hand would have been ruined! Ranita coldly looked at Chole. “Chole, what are you doing?”
“What am I doing? It’s just some hot water. Does it hurt that much? Do you know how much pain I was in when you almost killed me back then?”
Bringing up the past, Ranita tightly gripped the cup of water. “Chole, I didn’t harm you!”
“Ranita, even after all these years, you’re still stubbornly denying it! I’ll never forget that memory!” Chole approached her, lips curled with mockery. “Ranita, I wish our parents could see your true face now, always pretending to be obedient and submissive in front of them… but treating me with coldness as if I’ve wronged you so much.”
Ranita held onto the hot water cup, pursing her lips. “Chole, Dad is still in the operating room. I don’t want to argue with you.”
“Move aside!”
Ranita had tried to reconcile with her before, but it never yielded any results.
Therefore, Ranita had long stopped engaging in such foolish acts. She knew better than anyone that Chole’s hatred towards her couldn’t be changed, and only the Bowman family still tried to maintain harmony.
“Ranita, you have no blood relation to Dad, and you even changed your household registration away from the family. Yet you shamelessly call him ‘Dad.’ Don’t you have any shame?” Chole paused and continued with a cold smirk, “Ah! Of course, you don’t! I thought you would achieve something after leaving the family, but instead, you came back with a wild child…”
