As soon as Shannon opened her mouth, she hinted that Ranita was the one who had been bullying her.
“So, Brendon, don’t be angry with Ranita, okay?”
Her delicate and beautiful face was already fragile and heartbreaking. When she cried, it became even more so.
“What happened?” Brendon heard that it was related to Ranita but didn’t immediately jump to conclusions. He wanted to know the details first.
Shannon wiped away her tears and hesitantly said, “I met Ranita in the elevator and we argued… Brendon, I didn’t mean to say anything. I’m just afraid she’ll get closer to you and take you away from me.”
“Brendon, will you still want me?”
Shannon’s voice was full of despair which broke Brendon’s heart. Although he felt annoyed by her behavior at times like this he couldn’t bring himself to say anything harsh.
“Shannon, don’t overthink things. You’re not feeling well right now so rest up! If there’s something on your mind we can talk about it when we get back to Kurima.”
Hearing this made Shannon feel uneasy inside.
She realized that Brendon was becoming less attentive to her, especially during Amiya’s birthday. No matter how she persuaded Brendon, he refused to return to the country.
This was very unfavorable for her.
“Brendon, are you angry?” she asked.
“No! I’m not angry. Let’s go back to the room!” Brendon pushed Shannon back to the room. Shannon was already hurt and in a bad mood, so it wasn’t a good time for a conversation.
“Brendon, are you really not angry?” she asked again.
“I’m really not.” As soon as Brendon finished speaking, Shannon felt a little relieved. “I understand now! Thank you, Brendon! I should trust you. We’re getting married soon, so I shouldn’t be so petty about Ranita. It’s my mistake.”
“And when I got hurt, you rushed back from abroad. That means you care about me! I’m such a fool!” Shannon laughed through her tears and reached out to hug Brendon’s neck.
Brendon stepped back and frowned. “Rest well.”
“I have something to do, so I’ll come back later to see you.”
“Brendon, I haven’t had breakfast yet. Can you accompany me?” Shannon paused and added, “Cindy said she might be too busy today and might not be able to come and keep me company. I’m scared being alone here.”
“Please, Brendon!” Shannon still had tears in her eyes, and her pitiful face made it hard for Brendon to refuse.
“I might not be able to stay for long.”
“Well… even if it’s just for a while, it’s okay. I haven’t been able to sleep well these days. I keep having nightmares and remembering the stage collapsing. It’s really terrifying. Can you come and keep me company tonight?” Shannon spoke softly, her voice sweet and somewhat fragile. Brendon couldn’t refuse anymore. “Okay.”
“Thank you, Brendon!” Shannon’s mind was working, and she brought up Ranita again. “Brendon, Ranita suddenly came back to the country and appeared at the hospital. Is she sick? Or did she come to visit a friend?”
“When we met in the elevator, I showed some concern, and Ranita gave me an impatient look. I don’t know what I did to offend her!”
Brendon pursed his lips and spoke lightly, “She came to visit… relatives.”
“Oh… I see… It’s good that she’s not sick!” Shannon pretended to smile. “Since she came all the way back, I should invite her for a cup of coffee and catch up next time we meet. I just don’t know if she would be willing… We didn’t have a chance to talk properly when we met in Berlin before. Brendon, how about you come with me to meet Ranita?”
“We can also share the good news of our marriage with her. She will definitely bless us.”
