Brendon stared at the message, lips pursed in thought.
Ranita’s father was hospitalized? After a moment of consideration, Brendon called Caleb. “Caleb, can you help me find out what time the heart surgery for Mr. Bowman on the VIP floor is tomorrow and what his condition is?”
Caleb hesitated but eventually agreed.
Soon after, Caleb called back with an answer, “Mr. Stuart, I found out that there’s only one patient named Benedict who will have heart surgery tomorrow on the VIP floor.”
“Benedict? The one from Steland Monolith Technology?” Brendon furrowed his brow. In recent years, Stuart’s Corp had collaborated with Steland and their tech company so he had met Benedict before.
However, Allen handled all those business dealings so Brendon wasn’t familiar with him.
“Are you sure?” It didn’t make sense to Brendon since Ranita said her parents were just ordinary peasants! How could she be related to Benedict?
“I confirmed it with the hospital. He is indeed having heart surgery tomorrow and staying on the VIP floor.”
“Send me detailed information about the Bowman family,” Brendon requested.
Brendon waited until midnight for the information. Caleb sent him a picture, taken recently when Benedict attended a business event with his family.
“Jedidiah?” As Brendon looked at Jedidiah’s relationship status with Benedict, his head suddenly started pounding.
How could Ranita call Benedict “dad”?
It couldn’t be possible that she was going to marry Jedidiah, right?! The thought of this possibility made Brendon jump up from his bed!
He absolutely wouldn’t allow it!
Brendon pulled out his phone and angrily called Ranita. After dialing, he looked at the time and hesitated for a moment.
It was so late; it seemed inappropriate to disturb Ranita’s sleep.
Besides, she wasn’t feeling well and needed rest. Brendon gritted his teeth and ended the call.
But before he could do that, the call unexpectedly connected.
Ranita didn’t dare to turn off her phone because of Benedict’s hospitalization. When her phone woke her up, she immediately woke up too. When she saw Brendon’s name on the screen, she became furious.
“Brendon, are you out of your mind? Look at the time! Don’t you sleep?” Ranita’s voice sounded nasal, lacking the force of anger and instead sounding soft, as if she was being coquettish.
Listening to her, Brendon’s heart softened.
“Why aren’t you saying anything?” Ranita was furious. He had woken her up in the middle of the night, and now he wasn’t saying anything!
“Ranita! What is your relationship with Jedidiah?” Brendon’s anger surged, and his voice became much louder.
“What does it have to do with you?” Ranita sneered coldly. “You wake me up in the middle of the night just to ask this question? You’re really boring!”
“Ranita, did you marry Jedidiah? Did you marry him while taking my son?” Brendon’s anger rushed to his brain, and his voice raised significantly.
What on earth?
Ranita was bewildered but quickly realized that Brendon had misunderstood. She pursed her lips and didn’t explain, saying, “Whether I get married or not, and whom I marry, it has nothing to do with you!”
Ranita hung up directly and put her phone on silent mode.
The next day.
Ranita entrusted Ayaan to Olivia’s care and went to the hospital early in the morning. Benedict’s surgery was scheduled to start at nine, but preparations had to be made since seven.
After resting well and taking her medication yesterday, she felt a bit tired but no longer uncomfortable this morning.
“Ranita!” As Ranita stepped out of the elevator, her arm was grabbed by someone! Before Ranita could react, Brendon dragged her into an empty corridor. He gritted his teeth and said, “Why didn’t you answer my call?”
