“Miss Parker, the money you earned from working your whole life probably wouldn’t even be enough for the small change in my pocket,” Ranita smirked. “I have plenty of money, a successful career, and a lovely child. How am I not glamorous?”
Julia felt her heart in turmoil after being retorted by Ranita. She didn’t want to admit defeat, but Ranita’s words hit her hard. Julia couldn’t help but realize her current situation, which was a complete failure. No… She had never competed with Ranita in the first place…
Like the last straw that broke the camel’s back, Julia’s psyche collapsed. She suddenly covered her face and burst into tears.
Ranita wasn’t heartless, but when faced with someone who had harmed Ayaan, she couldn’t muster any sympathy. If they hadn’t found Ayaan, he might have lost his life already. She wouldn’t let her maternal instincts overflow and sympathize with a vicious criminal.
“Ranita… Wait…” Julia suddenly stopped crying, a wicked smile on her lips. She said, “Ranita, what’s so great about you… In the end, you’re just a loser, ha-ha-ha!”
Julia was acting like a madwoman.
Ranita couldn’t be bothered to talk to someone like her. After leaving, she headed straight to the airport. By the time Brendon arrived at the airport, she had already boarded the plane.
“Mr. Stuart, let’s go back to the country!” Caleb saw Brendon’s extremely displeased expression and asked cautiously.
“No! You go back and take charge. I’m flying to Slovenia.” Brendon threw his passport at Caleb. “Change the flight.”
As Ranita came out of the airport, a little cannonball crashed into her and shouted loudly, “Mommy, you’re back!”
“Oh, my Ayaan!” Ranita squatted down and hugged him. “Did you miss me?”
“I did!” After a pause, the little boy pointed at Steve, who followed closely. “Uncle Pearson missed you too!”
Steve cleared his throat, ruffled Ayaan’s head, and explained, “Don’t listen to him talking nonsense!”
Ranita smiled gently. “Don’t you miss me?”
“What do you think?! He drove me crazy even when you weren’t here!” Steve pretended to put on a serious face. “He didn’t go to kindergarten, jumping around all day.”
“He went to the clinic with you?” Ranita got into the car as she spoke. “You could have left him with Jenney to take care of him. No need to bring him to the clinic and scare away your patients with his mischief!”
“That’s not true!” Ayaan understood and huffed, “I’m not mischievous! I even helped Grandma wash the apples!”
Ranita suppressed her laughter, touched his head, and praised him. “That’s right, Ayaan, you’re the best!”
During the journey, Ayaan chattered non-stop, making Ranita feel both happy and annoyed. Brendon wasn’t talkative, and she was used to it, but who could have expected Ayaan to be such a chatterbox!
Once settled, Steve made her a cup of hot coffee, and the two stood on the balcony, chatting.
“Have you talked to Brendon?” Steve pursed his lips and asked softly.
A breeze blew, lifting Ranita’s black hair. She liked living in this not-too-big coastal city because it was peaceful and beautiful. From the balcony, she could see the square, the church, and the distant blue sea. The houses lined up, with white walls and colorful roofs, and the streets were adorned with vibrant flowers, giving the feeling of spring at first glance.
Ranita pursed her lips and took small sips of coffee, her tone unusually casual. “What’s there to talk about? He lives his life, and I’ll live mine!”
