Chapter 444 For You

Book:A Successful Career After Divorce Published:2024-6-4

They used to be husband and wife.
They were the most familiar with each other, and Brendon’s actions had uncovered Ranita’s hidden thoughts, revealing them without any escape. Ranita’s heart was both sour and filled with a hint of sweetness and satisfaction.
Compared to their last kiss, this time Brendon was much more gentle.
At least he didn’t bite her lip.
“Brendon… don’t do this… don’t kiss me…” It took a lot of effort for Ranita to break free, but the sound that came out of her mouth was distorted.
Whiny and short-tailed.
It wasn’t refusal; it was clearly an invitation!
He pulled Ranita into his arms, towering over her while his eyes rolled like waves. His voice became low and hoarse as he said, “Ranita, isn’t it true that long nights are too lonely? I’ll keep you company!”
Ranita was speechless.
Those were just angry words; how could this jerk take them seriously?
“You’re crazy! We’re ex-husband and ex-wife… we can’t…”
“Why can’t we? You need a man. Am I not a man?” Brendon unbuttoned his shirt to reveal part of his chest that made Ranita’s heart race in excitement.
Ranita felt both angry and anxious as she raised her hand to hit him. “Brendon, stop being insane!”
“I am insane! You drove me crazy!” Brendon grabbed her hand tightly while staring at her with surging emotions that seemed like they could tear her apart at any moment.
Brendon had always been calm towards her before now. She should have been happy about what he said in the past but instead she had become like a frightened snail who dared not ask for more from life anymore…
Ranita’s eyes welled up with tears.
She averted her gaze, refusing to look at Brendon, afraid of revealing her emotions.
“Now, can you listen to me?” Brendon adjusted her chin, forcing her to meet his gaze.
“Ranita, you asked me what I want, and now I’ll answer you.” Brendon’s expression turned serious, his voice carrying authority. “Ranita, give me some time, and I will handle the situation with Shannon.”
“And then, we can remarry!”
Ranita stared at the man in disbelief, thinking she must have misheard.
Remarry?
Did he say remarry?
Ranita clenched her fist, a bitter ache swirling in her heart. Her mind was in chaos, yet she spoke with an unusual calmness. “Let’s not talk about anything else for now. How do you plan to handle the situation with Shannon?”
“She has depression, doesn’t she? She’s on the verge of life and death, and you don’t care?” Ranita’s lips curled into a cold smile. “If she makes a phone call and sheds a few tears, will you abandon me and Ayaan to rush to her side?”
The mention of Shannon brought an overwhelming sense of suffocation.
Ranita felt deeply wronged!
“Brendon, have you even asked for my opinion? Am I willing to remarry you? Our three years of marriage were forced upon you. Shouldn’t you be relieved now that you’re free? Why repeat the same mistakes?!” Ranita’s voice trembled.
“If it’s just for Ayaan, then you don’t have to bother!”
“It’s best if you never appear in front of us again. That would be the best outcome for us.”
Ranita finished her words, her eyes completely red.
Brendon said he wanted to remarry, said he wanted to be by her side. Her weak heart was tempted, but it also hurt too much. She didn’t dare to take the risk again.
Brendon reached out and hugged her. “Ranita, give me some time, okay? I will handle things properly. I just hope you won’t resist my approach.”
“And it’s not just for Ayaan.”
“Ranita… I’m doing this for you…” Brendon knew it wasn’t the best timing, but he was afraid. If he let go, Ranita would once again escape far away.
