**Annabelle**
Richard called for the technical team in the hospital to work on getting the footage from the camera. If we can get the face of the hitman then the police can track him until he gives up the name of his boss and then we can find out why Nelson was killed.
“You should get back to the office.”
Richard suggested snapping me out of my thoughts.
“I completed all my duties for the day. I really don’t have anything to do. ”
I said chuckling.
“Well, this can be boring.”
“Boring? You mean dangerous.”
“Yeah I guess which is why you shouldn’t even be here.”
He said narrowing his gaze.
“I promise I’ll leave as soon as the footage arrives.”
He heaved a large sigh knowing he couldn’t convince me otherwise.
“Alright then.”
He caved in as an officer walked in.
“The footage is ready sir.”
Richard gave him a quick nod before collecting the flash drive and connecting it to the PC.
The footage was very graphic of course and the man’s face was shown clearly.
“Oh my God!”
I exclaimed and Richard quickly hit pause.
“I ran into him. He took the stairs just like me.”
“That could be a lead.”
Richard said and I nodded. We continued watching the footage. No words were exchanged but the man simply shot the doctor and rushed to his computer.
“We can’t see what he’d doing.”.
I said watching the footage. He worked on the computer for a while be destroying the hard drives and moving to his desk. He finally grabbed a file before making a run for it
“What did he take?”
I asked and Richard checked the desk.
“It was probably a copy of the original file. We need to find where he went. Are there any cameras outside or in the hallway?”
He asked the technician.
“Yes.”
The man replied.
“I need to see them.”
He ordered.
“Annabelle I think it’s important you get going.”
“Alright ”
“I’ll call you when I’m free.”
“Alright.”
I repeated and he pecked my checks. He’s one step closing to finding the hit man.
My car was back at the precent so I had to get a cab to take me back there first. I took the stairs but something weird caught my eyes. A piece of paper. I bent down to pick it up. It seemed it was one part of a larger paper.
*PATERNITY TEST*
*NELSON RIVERA*
“Oh my God.”
I half screamed. Nelson came to this hospital to run a paternity test which means he was killed because of it. I didn’t know why but I simply folded the paper tucking it into my purse before exiting the house.
Richard has his own lead but I feel connected to this case so I have mine.

I arrived back at the office and Fallon’s car was there as well which means he was here too.
I got back to my office and he sat there clearly deep in thoughts.
“I thought you left for the day.”
“No, I stepped out for a while. I’m back now.”
He nodded his head.
“I need to talk to you Annabelle.”
“Is it about the company?”
“No. It’s important.”
“The only thing we should talk about is business and nothing more. I should get back to work.”
“Annabelle…”
He trailed off clearly disturbed.
“Fallon, I closed this chapter more than a month ago. Don’t bring up again. Please.”
“We’ve been through more than enough already. We should move on.”
“You mean you should move on with the inspector.”
“Yeah just like you moved on with Ava. We’re living different lives now .”
He sighed staring at me.
“Just hear me out.”
“No Fallon. I need to go.”
I backed away planning to get as far away from him as possible.
“I think Ava lied to me. I think that child isn’t mine.”
He said just as I stretched my hand towards the door knob. Against my better judgement, I turned back and faced him hoping I heard wrongly
“What.”
I asked surprisingly composed and calm. This better be a joke. If there’s even the slightest truth to those words, everything changes. Everything.
