Is this the power of blood ties?
Ranita’s heart suddenly felt a little sad. Ayaan was so cute and sensible; he should have a complete family, a mother’s love, and a father’s companionship, to be a happy child. Ranita felt very guilty.
“Mommy, why doesn’t Uncle come to see me? Does he not like me anymore?” Ayaan’s young mind was a bit confused. He clearly remembered the handsome uncle who used to be around, so why did he suddenly stop visiting? He felt a bit sad.
Ranita didn’t know how to comfort him and could only rub Ayaan’s head, saying, “Ayaan, Uncle has his own matters to attend to. You have your mother, your uncle, and Uncle Pearson by your side…”
“By the way, I plan to take you back to our home country to visit your grandparents and Uncle Dylan and Aunt Eve… ”
“Wow! Really? Mommy, when are we going?” Ayaan suddenly became spirited, not fixating on why Brendon wasn’t visiting and kept asking Ranita, making her a bit exasperated. Fortunately, Steve arrived, allowing Ranita to escape.
Ranita called Judi, indicating that things were almost settled, and she wouldn’t be coming over to help! She didn’t want to run into Brendon again. On the other hand, she felt quite embarrassed about Allen. She hadn’t had a proper conversation with him for several days.
After much hesitation, Ranita finally called Allen. He cried and complained to her, saying how much he had missed her over the years and how he had been searching for any news about her. He hadn’t been traveling around the world for business; he had been hoping to run into her by some stroke of luck!
Ranita couldn’t help but feel touched. Among the Stuart family, Allen and Wyatt were the two who had been the kindest to her, and she remembered it well.
Ranita decided to invite Allen to dinner that evening.
Allen was warm-hearted and used to be quite carefree. After being with Brendon for a few years, he had become more stable, especially when it came to discussing business.
Ranita was always a good listener. Throughout dinner, she listened to Allen talk.
Finally, Allen mentioned Shannon, and his expression darkened, “Ranita, I really dislike Shannon. She’s so affected, always annoying Brendon with her silly habits. He feels guilty because of what happened before, so he has been indulging her.”
Ranita pursed her lips. “Does she really have depression?”
Allen snorted, rolling his eyes impolitely. “Who knows! She’s a two-faced person, always pretending. Only Brendon can tolerate her. If it were up to me, I would have kicked her out long ago!”
Ranita couldn’t help but laugh. Brendon’s tolerance of Shannon probably meant he truly loved her! So, she couldn’t possibly compete with that, and she didn’t want to.
“Ranita, I don’t think Brendon really likes her! Let me tell you something… Brendon used to be quite good to Shannon, like a brother. It was probably about ten years ago; there was an incident, and Shannon supposedly saved him tirelessly. After that, she confessed her feelings, and he agreed to marry her.”
Ranita’s fingers paused, surprised. “Ten years ago? Do you know what exactly happened?”
“Brendon never told me. I just remember it was winter,” Allen said regretfully. “Ranita, you should have been studying at Kurima Foreign Studies University at the time! If only you had met Brendon earlier, perhaps Shannon wouldn’t have been able to snatch him away!”
