“Is that kid not dead?” In an instant, Shannon’s tone became very unpleasant. “Julia, you are useless. You can’t even handle a three-year-old!”
“Miss Murphy… I did my best! That kid looked small, but he wasn’t easy to fool! I finally managed to take him to a place where no one goes and locked him up to fend for himself. Who knew they could find him?”
Julia also put in a lot of effort.
She couldn’t take the person out, so she probably took the coat and shoes from the little guy’s body and deliberately left them by the lake, distracting Ranita’s attention there. It was so cold that day; being locked up for two days without food or water would either starve or freeze him!
“Miss Murphy, someone is following me! Did I expose myself? Did Ranita and the police find me? If I get caught, it’s over for me!”
Julia only had Shannon to rely on now!
Although she hated Shannon in her heart too much at this moment, only she could provide enough money for her living expenses!
“Julia, don’t scare yourself like that! Where is it so easy for them to find you?” After pausing briefly, Shannon changed her tone of voice, “Julia… even if they really do catch you with the police… what does that have anything to do with me?”
“This is something you did; it has nothing to do with me!”
This is called turning your back on someone!
Julia didn’t expect Shannon would be so shameless – clearly it was Shannon who asked her to do this thing in the first place but now she wanted Julia alone to bear all responsibility?
Julia gritted her teeth, “Miss Murphy… although I’m just a small fish in this pond, have you ever heard of ‘the fish dies when trapped’?”
“Aren’t you afraid Brendon will know what kind of evil heart hides beneath your angelic face?”
Shannon really wasn’t afraid; she giggled, “Do you have any evidence? Without evidence, do you think Brendon will believe what you say?”
“Look at how tragic Ranita ended up four years ago! At least she still had some time as Brendon’s wife. What about you? You were kicked out of Stuart’s Corp by Brendon!”
After a pause, Shannon’s tone turned disdainful. “Julia, don’t think I don’t know what you’ve been up to! You, a mere secretary, how dare you try to seduce Brendon?!”
“I didn’t deal with you immediately, but that’s only because I still find you useful.”
Julia trembled with anger, and she said in horror, “Shannon, you’re so malicious!”
“Julia, that’s not fair. I’ve given you a lot of money over the years, and your pitiful brother is still alive because of me… Shouldn’t I be your savior?” Shannon’s voice was sweet and soft, but every word sent chills down one’s spine.
“Goodbye, Miss Parker.”
Shannon hung up the phone, and Julia desperately shouted, “Hello? Hello?”
But when she tried calling again, the phone was already out of service!
Julia hurriedly packed her things. She had to leave as soon as possible.
Just then, the door was kicked open with a loud bang. Julia shrank into a ball in fear. “Don’t come any closer! Don’t come any closer! I’ll call the police!”
As the words fell, a tall figure came into view.
Julia felt as if she had been plunged into an icy cave. Her body trembled, and she looked at the person in terror. Her lips trembled, but she couldn’t manage to utter a single word!
“Julia?” Brendon looked down at the woman huddled in the corner. He lifted his chin slightly, his voice low and cold. “So, it’s you, this rat!”
