Chapter 413 Ayaan is Missing

Book:A Successful Career After Divorce Published:2024-6-4

“Let’s go back, I don’t want to stay here… Seeing Ranita here reminds me of the child I lost…”
Caleb probably couldn’t take it anymore and awkwardly said, “Miss Bowman, let’s talk outside!”
Ranita went out of the consultation room and heard Caleb say, “Miss Bowman, Miss Murphy has depression. When her emotions are high, she becomes very extreme and is prone to self-harm.”
“Mr. Stuart is also having a hard time.”
Ranita had mixed feelings but didn’t sympathize with Shannon at all. She would never forget what Shannon had done to her!
With a cold heart, Ranita helped communicate with the doctor in a professional and calm manner like a machine.
“Ranita, I’m sorry! If I said anything bad just now please don’t take it to heart… I didn’t mean it… Sometimes my emotions get out of control.”
Shannon pretended to be pitiful in front of Ranita.
On her innocent face were furrowed eyebrows and pale lips that made people unable to scold her.
Ranita coldly said, “Why would I argue with someone who is sick?”
“Ranita…” Shannon became even more aggrieved. “I really am sick; it wasn’t intentional…I…”
With an insincere smile on her face, Ranita looked at Shannon.
“If it wasn’t intentional, then there’s no need for further explanation! There’s a saying that goes ‘the more you explain yourself the guiltier you look.'” After speaking she was pulled out by Brendon who frowned, “Ranita, Shannon has depression; don’t upset her!”
“I have yet to see any depressed patient who constantly brings up their illness,” replied Ranitia nonchalantly.
“Besides, I hate Shannon. What does her illness have to do with me?” Ranita said.
“Ranita!” Brendon sighed helplessly.
“Enough, go take care of Shannon! I have something else to do, so I’m leaving!” Ranita said, pulling away from him.
Brendon grabbed her and said, “I’ll take Shannon back first. When I come back, we can talk about Ayaan’s situation properly, and please don’t block me again.”
Ranita’s heart suddenly ached for no reason.
She shook off his hand and pursed her lips. “Brendon, here’s a suggestion: stay and talk about the child’s matters, or you can send Shannon back. You choose.”
“Ranita!” Brendon looked at her in distress. “Don’t be like this! Shannon has depression, and her mood is not good right now. She needs to go back for treatment.”
Ranita felt uncomfortable in her heart.
She knew it all along. Who could rival Shannon in Brendon’s heart?
She didn’t have the qualifications, and neither did Ayaan.
“Mr. Stuart, then go back to your country. Have a safe journey!” Ranita turned and walked away without another word. Brendon caught up, but Shannon’s tender voice called out from behind, “Brendon…”
The footsteps stopped.
Ranita didn’t look back because she knew Brendon wouldn’t catch up.
Ranita thought four years would be enough for her to forget this feeling, but when faced with it, she realized she hadn’t forgotten, and her heart still wasn’t healed…
It still hurt, making her eyes turn red.
“Ring, ring!” Suddenly, her phone rang. Ranita saw that it was Steve calling, so she took a few deep breaths, suppressed her emotions, and tried to appear more relaxed.
She was afraid Ayaan would notice if something was wrong.
Ranita answered the call, “Dr. Pearson…”
“Ranita, where are you? Are you driving? If you’re driving, pull over to the side of the road first!” Steve’s voice sounded worried.
“What’s wrong?” Ranita wondered, feeling a bad premonition. She parked the car on the side of the road and said, “Dr. Pearson…”
Before she could finish her sentence, she heard Steve’s low and self-blaming voice, “Ranita… Ayaan… is missing…”
