Chapter 412 Sadfishing

Book:A Successful Career After Divorce Published:2024-6-4

Ranita didn’t want to deal with him, so that was why he brought Allen along, but now it seemed like it would have been better if he hadn’t!
“Ranita…”
“If you keep talking, you won’t get breakfast!”
The breakfast was eaten in silence.
Only Allen kept chattering away.
Ranita couldn’t quite understand Brendon. If he had feelings for her, why did he always put Shannon first? And if he didn’t have feelings for her, then why did he pursue her and make her misunderstand?
It was all too frustrating.
It had a huge impact on both her personal life and work. Ranita didn’t want any of it.
Work in the morning went smoothly enough. She wasn’t sure what Brendon meant; they hardly spoke at all and most decisions were made by Allen nodding his head.
During their break time, Ranita made coffee for Brendon as usual. He said slowly, “The project will be finished soon. You should be happy about that.”
Ranita gripped the coffee cup tightly with forceful fingers.
“It’s just work; there’s nothing to be happy or unhappy about.” Although Ranita didn’t want to admit it, Brendon really understood her well and could always find a way to hit where she was weak. So when the knife came down on those spots, it hurt the most.
“Ranita… I’m sorry about yesterday…” Brendon brought up yesterday’s incident again and Ranita’s back started heating up again. Just thinking about that kiss made shivers run down her spine.
“Don’t mention it again…” Before Ranita could finish speaking though, Brendon’s phone rang.
She was close enough to see the letters ‘Shannon’ on the screen naturally.
That warmth disappeared in an instant, leaving no trace.
What was there for her to hope for?
“You take the call; I’ll go back to the meeting room first!”
“No need, work is more important!” Brendon hung up and returned to the meeting room with Ranita.
The meeting resumed, but Allen suddenly said something to Brendon. Allen’s voice wasn’t loud, but the meeting room was quiet, and Ranita caught a few words.
It was probably about Shannon having a depressive episode, self-harming with a fruit knife in the hotel… Fortunately, Caleb found her in time, and she was being taken to the hospital now.
Ranita sneered inwardly.
Shannon had depression? She should really celebrate with fireworks!
Brendon hastily left, and the weirdest part was that Judi, fearing there might be some inconvenience in communication, asked Ranita to accompany him.
On the way, Ranita remained silent.
Caleb wasn’t familiar with the area, so he took Shannon to a private clinic. Since it was a private clinic, the nurses and doctors spoke in German, and Caleb was at a loss about how to communicate.
“Miss Bowman, you finally came!” Caleb saw Ranita as if he had encountered a savior and let out a big sigh of relief!
Shannon’s delicate wrist was tightly bandaged, but it looked fragile, as if it could break at any moment. Combined with her pitiful expression, anyone would feel pity. Seeing Brendon, Shannon plunged into his embrace and cried out in distress, “Brendon!”
“Why didn’t you answer my calls… I was so scared… Did you see Ranita and decide not to want me anymore? I’m really afraid she’ll take you away from me…”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to do this, but I just can’t control myself!”
Suddenly being cued, Ranita felt extremely speechless.
What made Ranita even more disgusted was that Shannon seemed to ignore her presence and continued to play the victim, “Brendon, I’m really scared… Can you take me back to our country?”
