If this careful attention had come earlier, Ranita would have been moved beyond words.
But now, she suppressed her emotions.
“Let go of me!”
Ranita quickly withdrew her hand from Brendon’s grasp. He handed her a handkerchief and asked, “Is it bleeding?”
“I don’t need your help!” Ranita stood up in a hurry but ended up hitting her head on the table with a loud thud!
Brendon was startled and quickly held onto her head. “Are you okay?”
“Get away from me! Don’t touch me!” Ranita was angry at herself for being clumsy in front of Brendon. She felt so embarrassed! The waiter came over to clean up the broken pieces while Ranita twisted her fingers and thought about what he had said before.
The atmosphere became eerie and cold.
“Ranita, are you calm now? Can you tell me about Ayaan?” Brendon spoke as he handed over the coffee that just arrived to her side.
“What Ayaan? I don’t understand what you’re talking about.” Ranita denied it as she looked at Brendon. “I suddenly remembered something important that I have to attend to. Let’s cancel dinner tonight.”
“Ranita!” Brendon grabbed hold of her hand.
Ranita shook him off. “Brendon, I told you I don’t understand what you’re saying.”
“If you really didn’t understand then why did you react like that?!” Brendon pressed his lips together tightly as his tone turned colder than before. “You never lie, Ranita.”
Ranita smiled faintly with feigned calmness mixed with panic in her eyes. “Brendon, stop joking around between us where could there be any child? If we must talk about one then there was only one… and it’s gone since our divorce.”
She grabbed hold of her coat and walked away quickly.
Brendon let out a deep sigh and still chased after her. “Ranita!”
Before getting into the car, Brendon stopped the woman. He grabbed her hand and got into the car, forcefully closing the door. His large figure enveloped her in the shadows, and his slightly cold arm pressed against her shoulder. “Ranita, running away won’t solve the problem!”
“Ayaan, is he my child, right?!”
“No! Brendon, Ayaan is not your child!” Ranita gritted her teeth, her gaze fierce and full of animosity as if she wanted to devour Brendon. “Let go, I’m leaving!”
Ranita struggled.
But Brendon didn’t let go. Instead, he tightly held her wrist, trapping her in his embrace. “Ranita! You’re lying! I’ve seen Ayaan, and he is my child!”
“No! Ayaan is my child, and he has no connection to you! Brendon, get lost…” Before she could finish her sentence, his lips unexpectedly sealed hers.
The remaining words turned into muffled sobs.
Ranita wanted to resist, but Brendon’s strength was too overwhelming. Her lips were crushed against his, as if they were on fire. The temperature outside was quite low, and the car wasn’t running, making the seat feel cold! However, Ranita didn’t notice that. Instead, she felt sweat forming on her back due to the heat radiating from Brendon’s skin.
In order to maintain her composure, Ranita forcefully bit down on Brendon’s lip, the taste of blood spreading. But he still didn’t let go, greedily continuing to kiss her.
After the chaotic kiss ended, Brendon finally spoke after a long pause. “Can we talk properly now?”
Ranita’s cheeks flushed with anger as she glared at Brendon. Years of grievances rushed to the surface like a swarm.
“Your child?” Ranita’s eyes welled up with tears, and she coldly chuckled. “Back then, you held a paternity test and personally interrogated me about whose bastard I was… Heh, Brendon, do you have the audacity to say that Ayaan is your child?”
“Do you even deserve it?”
