Chapter 403 Many People Want to Be My New Dad

Book:A Successful Career After Divorce Published:2024-6-4

Ayaan was reading a fairy tale book when he suddenly felt his phone watch vibrate. He sneakily glanced towards the bathroom to make sure Ranita hadn’t come out yet before picking up the watch to answer.
Although Ayaan was young, he could read well, but he couldn’t write!
He held onto the phone watch and called back.
“Uncle… do you need something from me?” The little guy crouched under the sofa while talking on the phone in a small and soft voice.
Brendon felt like his heart was melting.
He pursed his lips and asked Ayaan, “Ayaan, is your mom around?”
“Nope. She’s taking a shower.” The little guy chuckled softly. “Uncle, this is our secret so I won’t tell mommy.”
“Good! You’re very obedient!” Brendon lowered his eyes and thought about their previous conversation before asking again. “Ayaan, didn’t you say that your dad passed away? Do you have a new dad now?”
Ayaan blinked his eyes and secretly peeked at the bathroom door before whispering softly. “There are many people who want to be my new dad but mommy hasn’t decided yet.”
Brendon was speechless.
His heart throbbed with pain.
Many people? There were quite a few options available!
She hasn’t decided yet? Is she picking vegetables or what?
“Uncle… do you like my mommy too? But you haven’t met her…” The little guy didn’t know why he liked Brendon so much but his mommy had warned him that some bad people might deceive him.
Is Uncle one of those deceiving bad guys?
“I’m just asking,” Brendon paused for a moment before continuing. “So do you want a new daddy?”
“Of course I do! With a new daddy around, there’ll be someone to accompany me during activities!” After pausing for awhile, Ayaan shared his secret with Brendon. “Uncle, let me tell you something; actually Uncle Pearson is my favorite person ever since I met him at school last time.”
Uncle Pearson?
Brendon wanted to ask more questions but heard Ayaan say, “Uncle, Mommy’s coming out now; bye-bye!”
As soon as Ayaan hung up on Brendon’s call, Ranita walked out of the bathroom while drying her hair.
“Ayaan, who were you talking with just now?”
“Uncle!” The little guy blinked nervously afraid of revealing their secret.
“Uncle Pearson?” Ranita smiled gently as she patted her son’s back. “What did you talk about with Uncle Pearson?”
“Nothing…” After hesitating for awhile, Ayaan suddenly said, “Mommy, I’ll have parent-teacher meeting after school tomorrow. Can we go together with Uncle Pearson?”
“I can’t go alone?”
“But Mommy, you can’t lift me up high. I want Uncle Pearson to come with us.” Boys also have a competitive spirit. There were more activities in kindergarten, but Ranita never had time to attend. She rarely got the chance to participate and she can’t even outrun other parents when it came to running.
So Ayaan was very envious.
And he saw other children being lifted up high, so he always wanted to be lifted up high too.
Ranita thought of Brendon.
She hesitated a bit, should she tell Ayaan about his biological father?
But if she told him, how did she explain her previous lies?
“I’ll ask Uncle Pearson later and invite him if he’s willing to come with us,” Ranita picked up the little boy. “Sleep now! Goodnight.”
The little one fell asleep quickly.
Ranita remembered what happened earlier and decided not to tell Ayaan about Brendon. This child was long gone in Brendon’s eyes and since he was now with Shannon, there was no need for everyone else to worry about it.
“Ring ring!” Suddenly her phone rang.
It was actually Brendon calling her.
Ranita hung up without answering the call.
Soon after that, a message came through, “Cynthia, business matter. Please answer the phone.”
