“Isn’t that Ranita? Oh my god, what a coincidence! Brendon, why didn’t you tell me you ran into Ranita?” Shannon’s face was full of shock.
“Shannon…” Brendon was about to speak, but Shannon opened the car door and smiled at Ranita. “Ranita, it’s been so many years. Are you doing well?”
Ranita calmly got out of the car and ignored Shannon. Instead, she turned to Brendon and said, “Mr. Stuart, I have something to do. I’ll leave first.”
Ranita turned around and walked away.
Shannon could pretend like nothing happened and act innocent or pitiful, but she couldn’t fool Ranita.
Ranita was afraid that she would slap Shannon in the face right then and there.
“Ranita…” Shannon bit her lip as she caught up with her. Her eyebrows were still like four years ago; naturally delicate-looking. “It’s been four years since we last saw each other; can’t we sit down and talk?”
“You left suddenly before; everyone looked for you everywhere but couldn’t find you,” said Shannon with a hint of worry in her voice. “Brendon and I were very worried about you!”
Ranita smiled lightly with a cold tone in her voice, “Miss Murphy, it’s not necessary! I still have work to do so I won’t disturb you two!”
With an attitude that kept people at arm’s length away from her made it clear how hurtful this encounter had been for Shannon.
“Ranita… I just haven’t seen you in too long,” said Shannon sounding sad, “I just wanted to show some concern for your well-being.” She apologized immediately after realizing how self-centered she sounded, “Sorry…I’m being too presumptuous here.”
Without another word or glance back at them both, Rantia walked away.
Brendon wanted to catch up, but he was pulled back by Shannon. “Brendon, I’m a bit tired from rushing to catch the plane. Can you take me to the hotel to rest?”
“By the way, tell me how you met Ranita. It’s been so many years, and I never expected her to come to Berlin. No wonder we couldn’t find her in Kurima!”
Brendon was being pestered and had no choice but to personally accompany Shannon to her room and settle her in.
“Shannon, take a rest, I’ll make a phone call!”
Shannon immediately grabbed his arm. “Brendon, are you going to call Ranita? Have you been searching for Ranita all these years?”
Shannon looked pitiful and her eyes turned red in an instant. “Brendon, I’m so jealous and envious!”
“You are my fiancé, can you stop looking for Ranita?”
As Shannon spoke, tears dripped down like delicate pearls, clinging to her cheeks. The lighting was just right, making Shannon look like a fragile porcelain doll.
Brendon’s heart softened.
Shannon had lost their child and developed depression, and it was all his fault. Brendon’s guilt resurfaced, and he reached out to pat Shannon’s hand, comforting her. “Shannon, I’m not calling Ranita. It’s because of work-related matters.”
As for anything more, Brendon didn’t say.
“You rest well, and if you need a meal, I’ll have it sent over.”
Shannon had always been a gentle and considerate person, so upon hearing Brendon’s words, she naturally put on a strong and pitiful facade. “I’m sorry… my words just now didn’t mean anything else. I was just scared when I suddenly saw Ranita.”
“I didn’t mean to delay your work. Brendon, you go and attend to your tasks, I’ll adjust my emotions, you don’t have to worry about me.”
Now Brendon felt even more guilty. He furrowed his brows and said, “I just happened to run into Ranita too, so don’t overthink it.”
Brendon returned to his room and stood by the window for a while before sending a message to Ayaan, “Ayaan, has your mommy gone back?”
