“Thanks, sis!” Allen nodded obediently.
Ranita quickly corrected him: “Call me Ranita from now on! This title is scary… and it makes Mr. Stuart uncomfortable.”
Brendon gritted his teeth.
When did he ever feel uncomfortable? He wanted this identity to make sense!
Brendon glared at Allen again, but Allen either didn’t receive the message or had Ranita’s support and ignored Brendon completely. “Then I’ll call you Ranita from now on!”
After sitting down, Ranita received a friend request from Allen. She accepted it and added a note just as the meeting resumed.
Brendon was much more difficult than Allen. Judi needed help from him, so Brendon wouldn’t let up even for a second!
“Okay, let’s end it here today. I’m tired!” Brendon threw down the files and got up to leave. Judi hurried after him with Ranita following as an interpreter.
“Mr. Stuart, since you came all this way, I’d like to invite you to dinner tonight if you’re free.”
Brendon looked at Ranita and asked, “Is she going?”
Judi was sharp enough to see what was happening before Ranita refused, “Of course! She’s our interpreter for this meeting; how can she not come?”
Only then did Brendon nod his head regally, “Fine.”
He could have dinner with Ranita! Of course, Allen also wanted to go with them but when Brendon turned around he ordered Caleb, “Take Allen back to the hotel!”
“What? Brendon… I want… to eat too!”
But Brendon didn’t want Allen bothering Ranita so he gave him a cold look, “Go back and organize your materials; after all these years there hasn’t been any progress!”
Allen thought silently that it wasn’t that he hadn’t made progress; rather that Brendon’s demands were getting higher every day!
“You can’t always succeed without failing sometimes! It’s normal in business for there to be gains and losses…” muttered Allen before being silenced by another cold glare from Brendon. “There is a project in South Africa that needs people…”
Allen immediately shut up, “I’ll go back to the hotel right away; take your time walking, Brendon!”
Ranita lagged behind Judi slightly while walking next to Brendon who looked at her lightly, “Other than bullying Allen all day long, what else can you do?”
Brennan gritted his teeth, “You’re not his sister so why do you care?”
“Mr. Stuart, you’re right!” Ranita pursed her lips and walked away with a cold snort.
As she reached the door, Brendon stopped her. “Judi, Cynthia and I are in the same car. I want to hear some local dialect and learn about the culture here.”
Brendon flashed his whites at Judi.
His smile was so charming that it made Judi weak in the knees.
Judi not only agreed but also helped push Ranita onto the car.
Ranita and Brendon sat in the back seat in silence.
“Ranita, why did you block me again? Explain!” In the previous company setting, Brendon couldn’t say much, but now that they were alone, he couldn’t hold back any longer.
Brendon loosened his tie, unbuttoning one button, revealing half of his Adam’s apple. Four years had passed, and Brendon had reached an age of greater maturity, exuding charm and elegance in every move.
Ranita averted her gaze, not daring to look too long. The fortifications she had built seemed like layers of paper when facing Brendon, and she feared they would collapse in an instant.
