Ranita returned to her apartment and received a call from Brendon. She sat on the couch, with the afternoon light shining in brightly, but it didn’t make her feel warm. The phone kept ringing without stopping.
“Hello!” Ranita finally answered the phone.
She was really annoyed.
According to Yasmin, this was a mood change unique to pregnant women.
“Brendon, what else do you want?” Ranita tried hard to suppress her anger and sound as calm as possible, so her tone sounded a bit indifferent.
Brendon remained silent for a few seconds before saying, “Ranita, I’m sorry. Shannon and Holly bothered you. I’m very sorry.”
Now it was Ranita’s turn to be silent.
“Ranita…”
“Hmm… I’m listening,” Ranita secretly breathed out and couldn’t think of anything else to say in her head; it was all jumbled up. “Is there anything else?”
“Yes… two things,” Brendon paused before continuing, “Firstly because of the miscarriage Shannon’s body and emotions are not good right now so I hope you can try your best to avoid conflicts with her.”
Ranita felt cold inside at his words.
He smirked, his tone less impulsive than usual due to his tense throat.
She said, “Brendon, you should say these things to Shannon. If she doesn’t come looking for me, I would never actively provoke her!”
“What’s the second thing?”
Brendon pursed his lips, his voice huskier than before, “I’ll be on a business trip for two or three days, so… if you need to go to the hospital, can you wait for me to come back? I want to accompany you.”
This man always had a cold demeanor.
So, Ranita found it really hard to understand how he managed to be indifferent, trampling her heart, while occasionally giving her some tenderness.
“No need… Your presence or absence won’t change the outcome.”
Brendon’s heart was also torn and in pain. Couldn’t he change the outcome? He had always respected Ranita’s decisions, but when it came to this child… Brendon was a bit reluctant.
Strictly speaking, he wasn’t someone who liked children. However, whenever he thought that the child in Ranita’s belly was theirs, he seemed quite happy.
“Mr. Stuart, you’re busy with work. I won’t disturb you anymore!” After a pause, Ranita pursed her lips and softly said, “Goodbye!”
Ranita rested for a while, fearing that Shannon and Holly might come looking for her again, so she went directly to Kurima Foreign Studies University.
When she arrived, it was already past five in the afternoon, and almost all the activities had ended. Only the final 800-meter relay race remained, reportedly moved to the end due to some issues.
Ranita sat in the stands, and Vincent handed her a bottle of water.
“Good thing you came late; it was scorching at noon!” Vincent handed her a manual fan, with the slogan of this sports event and the hundred-year school gate of Kurima Foreign Studies University printed on it.
Ranita’s eyes sparkled, and she smiled, saying, “It’s so lively! I haven’t participated in such an event for a long time.”
“Ah ah ah? Go for it! Jimmy Spencer… I love you…” Amidst the cheers, Ranita heard a girl screaming ‘I love you,’ tearing her throat.
This was probably the beautiful time in university life.
Braver than adolescence, bright, and expressive.
Ranita was infected, and her mood suddenly brightened. “I heard there’s a garden party tonight; it must be fun.”
Ranita was dressed in sportswear and had her hair tied in a ponytail, looking like a college student.
When she smiled, it was even more radiant than the sunshine.
Vincent propped up his arm, taking a while before shifting his gaze away, thinking that he shouldn’t have given up so easily.
