“I’m full, you guys can take your time,” Ranita put down her fork and grabbed her purse, leaving the private room.
She tried to convince herself not to mind, but she couldn’t help it. She needed some time to let go of these feelings.
Chris wanted to chase after her, but Brendon was quicker and followed Ranita outside. The restaurant had a garden-style design with a courtyard, pond and rockery. Brendon saw Ranita walk onto a small bridge and called out to her, “Ranita!”
Ranita didn’t stop and continued walking forward.
“Stop!” Brendon caught up with her and held onto her wrist tightly. “Why are you running? Angry because of Shannon?”
Although Ranita always made him angry, Brendon still wanted to know if he had any place in her heart.
“Why would I be angry? Don’t flatter yourself, Brendon. I just want to go home after eating.” Pausing for a moment, she looked towards Chris who was not far away, “Chris, could you please take me home?”
Chris? Calling him so intimately?! Ha ha! Brendon sneered inwardly.
“Ranita!” Suppressing his anger, he pulled her back towards the restaurant. “You’ve only eaten a few bites! Let’s go back and finish our meal!”
“Brendon! Are you crazy?! I said I’m full!”
Suddenly stopping in his tracks, Brendon leaned closer, his cold breath brushing against Ranita’s face as if trying to embrace her invisibly. Ranita’s pupils reflected his eyes that kept getting closer, and her heart began racing uncontrollably.
“What… what are you doing? Don’t get so close when talking,” she avoided eye contact, the corners of her eyes showing a hint of pink under the sun.
Brendon’s heart skipped a beat. Maybe… maybe there was also some attraction from Ranita to him?
“Let’s eat more before we leave. You’re already thin enough, you should eat more.” Brendon’s voice softened, and there was even some warmth in his gaze as he looked at the woman.
“Just for the sake of our child.”
Ranita pursed her lips. Her heart turned cold again.
“No need, I’m not hungry.”
Chris caught up with them and said, “I’ll take care of taking her home. If she gets hungry, I’ll buy food for her.”
Brendon blocked Chris and impatiently said, “Chris, you can go back on your own. I’ll take her home later.”
“Come on, Brendon!”
“Do you really want to interfere in my private affairs with Ranita?” Brendon’s words made Chris furrow his brows even more. He sighed and said, “Don’t force Ranita anymore. If she wants to go home, let her rest.”
“She woke up very early this morning,” Brendon continued holding onto the woman’s hand.
“Let’s go!” he told Chris.
“But…”
“Chris, you should go back first!” Ranita didn’t want to cause a fight between the two men because of herself. She was already feeling guilty about what happened with Steve before. At that time she had undergone an amniocentesis forcibly and was feeling extremely uncomfortable; she couldn’t think of anything else.
“Ranita…” Chris was worried about her. “Are you sure?”
Brendon’s forehead bulged with veins; he wasn’t a monster who would eat Ranita!
Ranita nodded and said, “You should go! I’m fine.”
Meanwhile at Boulderland Mansion…
Shannon sat by the window and made a phone call asking, “Is everything taken care of?”
