Chapter 334 Sour is Her Heart

Book:A Successful Career After Divorce Published:2024-6-4

Ranita sneered inwardly, feeling like she was delusional to think she could ever compare to Shannon in Brendon’s eyes! So how could she dare to hope for exclusivity?
“Ding Dong” another message came through.
“Ranita, I’m feeling better lately. I’ll personally bring it over tomorrow. Remember to open the door for me.”
Ranita deleted the message as if she hadn’t seen it.
“What are you looking at?” Brendon leaned over and saw her frowning while deleting a message. He felt uneasy and wondered if there was something unspeakable that needed deleting.
“Nothing.” Ranita looked up with a cold voice, “Brendon, I don’t need a fridge or fruit from you. Whatever I need, I can buy myself. Please stop interfering with my private life so frequently. You can leave now!”
It seemed like Ranita was very upset.
Who had angered her?
Brendon stared deeply into her eyes and asked softly, “It wasn’t meant for you anyway. And why are you angry?”
Ranita laughed out of anger.
“Brendon, whether or not I’m angry has nothing to do with you! Now please just go!” She pushed him out the door and said firmly, “Don’t come here again in the future!”
Brendon stood at the doorway and spoke calmly, “I’m only responsible for the child.”
“I don’t need your help anymore,” Ranita lied through gritted teeth as her heart felt heavy with each breath.
Brendon silently watched her before pursing his lips and saying coldly, “Suit yourself.”
Brendon left, and Ranita sat weakly on the sofa.
It took her a long time to come to her senses. She opened the box, and inside were neatly packed apples. She slowly peeled one, swallowing it bit by bit, easing it down her throat.
The peaches were very sweet, just like the apples. The only thing sour was her heart.
Early the next morning, Dylan came over and was startled to see so many peaches. “Ranita, what are you doing? Can you really finish all of these?” he exclaimed.
Ranita didn’t mention Brendon going crazy and delivering peaches to her as a gift for their unborn child in the middle of the night.
“Just some freebies from an event.”
“Really?” Dylan took a bite casually before saying again, “Where did they give them away? My mom bought some too but this kind is rare; only those who know plantation owners can get them.”
And then Ranita froze…
Did Brendon put in so much effort? But if this effort wasn’t exclusive, then wasn’t meaningless.
“Have some more, take some home too. There’s too much, I can’t finish it all and it’ll go bad! There’s also a box of apples over there.”
“Okay okay! I’ll bring some to Eve!” Pausing for a moment, he said, “Oh my goodness, it’s getting late. Let’s hurry to the hospital before Eve gets impatient!”
Today was the day Eve was discharged.
Ranita and Dylan went together to pick her up and celebrate with a meal.
Dylan went to handle paperwork while Ranita carried a big bag of fruit to find Steve.
Steve was in his office reading documents when he saw Ranita come in with a smile, “Please sit down.”
Ranita handed him the bag of fruit, “Please have some fruit.”
Looking at the red peaches and apples inside the bag, Steve raised an eyebrow, “Thank you. It’s rare for you to think of me like this.”
“I should be thanking you instead. I’ve been bothering you these past few days.”
Hearing this sounded like goodbye.
Steve felt sad, “Are you leaving Kurima?”
“It’s about time. Dr. Pearson, if you’re free sometime soon, can we have dinner together?”
Ranita always held gratitude towards those who helped her out.
