The bodyguards hesitated and didn’t dare to move.
Holly became even more furious, “Are you not listening to me? I’ll tell my mom to fire you immediately.”
Ranita sneered, “Holly, did you see the surveillance over there? If you want to go to jail, I’ll make it happen for you!”
“Miss, please calm down!” The bodyguard tried to persuade Holly. “This is illegal!”
“So I just get beaten up for nothing?” Holly stomped her foot.
“That’s your own fault for having a foul mouth!” Olivia pulled Ranita away. “Let’s go. Don’t mind this crazy person.”
“Ranita, stop right there!” Holly was so angry that she jumped up and down. Fortunately, the bodyguards kept their cool and stopped her. Holly could only vent her anger by punching and kicking the bodyguards.
Olivia saw it out of the corner of her eye and shook her head in disapproval. “She is really something! It’s tough on those bodyguards too.”
“Do you know how much those bodyguards make in a month?” Ranita felt sympathetic too but they chose this profession themselves; nowadays one can encounter all kinds of employers. Earning money isn’t easy!
Olivia became interested, “How much?”
“You wouldn’t be able to handle it even if I told you, so don’t bother asking.” Ranita tapped Olivia’s hand, “I’m going home now!”
As soon as she got home, she saw Brendon again.
The man leaned against the door with a big box at his feet.
Ranita shuddered; could he still bring peaches?
“Why are you here again?”
“To bring fruit.” Brendon saw that she had come back so he entered with his password while holding onto the box like he owned the place.
Ranita followed behind him feeling annoyed again.
“Do you still drink red wine?” Brendon spotted the bottle on table at first glance raising an eyebrow, “Don’t forget that your pregnant.”
“A friend brought it for me. Besides whether or not I drink has nothing to do with you.” Ranita replied nonchalantly.
“Isn’t our child inside of your stomach?” Brendon glanced at her indifferently then walked towards fridge seeing that there were still some peaches inside twisting his brows, “I’ll buy a bigger refrigerator for you.”
“Steve said pregnant women should eat apples; these are apples picked out specifically for you.” Brendon pointed towards the box then picked up his phone wanting call someone…
Ranita’s scalp went numb wondering if he was going have someone deliver another pile over here?
Her heart felt both sour and sweet at once.
He was unreasonable, but this subtle concern was driving Ranita crazy. She’d been trying to quit Brendon for a while now, but every time she closed her eyes, she missed his voice and his embrace.
Just then, Ranita’s phone rang.
It was Shannon calling, but she didn’t answer. Soon after, Brendon’s phone rang and although Ranita wasn’t an impatient person by nature, seeing Shannon’s name on the screen made her feel uneasy.
“Don’t you answer your phone? Miss Murphy might have something important to tell you.”
He hung up without answering it himself.
Ranita was confused and didn’t know what he meant by that.
“Ding!”
Her phone vibrated as a text message came in. “Ranita, why aren’t you answering my calls? I have some really good quality organic fruits here, red apples and peaches, that Brendon carefully picked out himself. They’re great for your health too! I have too much here to eat myself so let me bring some over for you.”
Ranita glanced at the message with her sharp vision and read it all in one go. Her heart shattered into pieces like a rock had been thrown at it; she thought Brendon’s concern was unique only to her.
Unfortunately not.
