“… There is this friend of mine whose son just returned from the US and I have arranged for a blind date for you.
He is young and handsome like your ex and has gotten a job as the country’s ambassador.
I had met him twice and he was such a great guy. He has agreed to meet with you tomorrow by 7:pm for dinner. I want you to meet him and get to know him more..” Monica persuaded.
Rita turned a white eye. Her mother is trying to get her a New boyfriend. With what has happened to her, she doesn’t feel like bothering herself about a man.
She just wants to live her life on her own terms and not get entangled with men who are not to be trusted.
If Julia who loves her so much treated her like he did, why should she ever believe a man again.
They are sweet tongue creatures and only know how to deceive women who are naturally simple minded.
” Thank you mum for your care and love you have shown towards me this past few weeks. But I don’t want to be in any form of relationship now.
I will not be going to dinner with your friend’s son. I want to be myself and live by myself without getting entangled with any man..” Rita politely refused.
Monica sighed audibly. She had anticipated this reply from her daughter. She knows somewhere in her, she is still in love with her ex husband.
Otherwise what does going for a blind date got to do with not wanting to be in a relationship? She’s still not overcome a part of Julia in her.
“I am not asking you to be in a relationship, baby. It’s just a blind date. You guys are going to be friends first.
It may develop into what a man and a woman feel for each other but for now, that’s not the same as saying you are dating him already.
Do this for me baby. I had arranged it and I hate to disappoint my friend..” Monica coaxed, holding Rita’s hand and giving it a soft squeeze.
Rita finally said ok. She was going to do it for her and hoped she would be happy. But she can’t promise to be able to compromise to go on another blind date.
Her mother said she should go to this first, they shouldn’t be talking about the future yet.
The joy that filled Julia’s heart that evening was overwhelming. It hasn’t been easy for him after Rita lost that pregnancy.
He hadn’t gotten a sound sleep since then. Psychologically he is suffering, just trying to hide his misery behind smiles.
Amaya got home with him and he assigned a servant to her immediately. She is to be treated well as she is his adopted daughter.
Amaya was taken into the children’s room that has never been used. She has been spellbound since she arrived at the gate of the mansion.
Her new papa is actually living in heaven. This is Paradise and she is afraid her feet are going to dirty the floor of the sitting room.
She and her parents had been living in a small house that had only two bedrooms. But her new father had brought her to Paradise.
Julia got into the room where Rita was occupying before she left. He sat down on the bed. He glanced over the room and felt emotionally drained.
” I’m sorry Rita ” he whispered into an empty room. They would have been counting weeks before their baby is born, but everything is gone.
” I missed you more than I could ever imagine. I wish things didn’t have to end this way. I still love you Rita,” Julia whispered, standing up and going to check her closet.
A big brown envelope fell down and Julia picked it. He opened it and saw the report of the Ultrasound that Rita did.
Julia read it and looked moody. He wasn’t a responsible father to the child in Rita’s belly. He never cared about her nor asked her if she ever went to see a doctor.
He searched further and saw some of her pictures. Julia took the most beautiful one among the pictures and decided he would make a large portrait of it.
Julia went to check on his daughter in her room and saw her sleeping peacefully. He went to her and removed the strand of hair that fell on her face backwards.
He smiled and gently went out, shutting the door. He would make her happy and have a fulfilled life.
Next morning when Julia Arrived at the company, Theresa Mo invited him over. She wants to know how he intends to raise Amaya, being an unmarried man.
Julia said he was going to get a nanny that would always be with her. He was going to call a pediatrician to examine her as well.
Theresa said she wants to make a suggestion that he bring her to be with Tim and Lee. They have a quarter and Amaya would get a room next door to her cousins.
Tutors who come for the boys will teach her as well. That way, the kids would learn to accept each other and get acquainted faster than if she remained in his Mansion.
Julia nodded. Theresa is an intelligent woman. She’s right, she will be able to be herself if she’s exposed to such a convenient environment like her nephews.
Julia asked if Junxie Li would agree and Theresa Mo said Junxie has no option than to accept his new found niece.
Suddenly Theresa asked “How is Rita? Have you been checking on her?”
