Lu Jingli’s eyes were red. He looked haggard like a man whose wife fled away with his kids.
” We have to leave mum. I don’t want the law enforcement agents to come after you and throw you out. But if that is what you want, I will leave and let them manhandle you..” Lu Jingli was persuading his mother.
How can he tell her that the woman he told her he was going to bring back to her as her daughter in-law has gotten all that he owned.
And thanks to his unlearned lawyer. If he should have outlined the other side of it to him. He wouldn’t have ventured into such a risky adventure.
He couldn’t get Theresa Mo back and his lifelong investment and savings are all gone to her. He wished he hadn’t attempted to get her back.
” Tell me what happened? You can’t just tell me I have to vacate the house that I have lived with your father for years before his death.
This is the only valuable asset I have inherited from my late husband and you want me to leave it simply because you said so?” Cherry Lu demanded.
” I have lost everything to an opponent. I couldn’t pay the complete ransom. I had to use this house until I am able to pay up and get it back..” Lu Jingli explained.
But he wouldn’t tell his mother that the opponent he was talking about was Theresa Mo. It’s too shameful to say.
Cherry Lu said she was going to wait and see who was coming to take her house so she could plead with them and asked that they give her time to raise money and pay then take her house.
Seeing that his mother would not do as he had required of her, Lu Jingli dashed into her room and went for the papers.
Rosa’s mother was quite better. She was given her medicines that evening after her dinner. She felt better and fine like her old self.
Rosa had a video call with Lanre. He was checking on Rosa’s mother and the latter said her mother had gone to bed early.
The two talked about many things like how they missed each other during their period of separation and Lanre said the breakup made him go into his search for his parents.
He had told Rosa in the past that he doesn’t know his biological parents. He was raised by his foster parents. Though he couldn’t ask for better parents than them, even at that, he wants to know his origin.
Rosa asked if he has gotten all the answers that he seeks? Lanre said he was almost there. He needed to ask Theresa Mo for help.
He had found out who his father was and was going to google about him on social media. Rosa said she’s happy that he did what he ought to have done a long time ago.
Rosa asked further that when would they be seeing each other the next day and Lanre said when he’s done with the day’s work. He had a few surgeries the next day and might not have a chance to go to lunch with her.
Rosa said Ok. It would be better. She would be through with work at the time and they both can go out to catch up on old times.
Lu Jingli and his mother went in her car. He doesn’t have one again and the old model Peugeot his mother drives is all they both loaded with their suitcases.
But they had no place to go specifically. Lu Jingli doesn’t have a home, nor money to rent a hotel.
They kept lingering around the town until Cherry Lu bursted out in alarm”Where are we going?” She demanded in rage.
“I don’t know anywhere to be precise. I am just wandering around the street” Lu Jingli replied.
Cherry Lu started sobbing. Has she become a wanderer? She has no home and nowhere to lay her head?
She decided to use out of her savings to Lodge into a hotel. Happily Lu Jingli drove to a cheap hotel and they lodged in.
She had always had her expenses and bills settled by Lu Jingli but now, he also has nothing to fall back to.
They booked a room, and the pair of mother and son got in. It’s a cheap hotel that doesn’t have the touch of classy in it.
Lu Jingli couldn’t compare it to the maginicient hotels he had visited during the course of his work as the President of the Mo’s business.
But he wondered. Had he been automatically sent out of the Mo’s business? Can he go back there the next day and have access to the company?
‘Please Theresa don’t send me out of the company’ Lu Jingli closed his eyes and wished happily. He wouldn’t know where to begin from if he was sent out of the company.
“Jingli, tell me what happened, everything?” Cherry Lu demanded.
“Can you bear it if I tell you?” Lu Jingli demanded. Cherry Lu said yes. She can bear it whatever the matter, she can bear it.
Lu Jingli sighed. He looked at his mother and felt his lips heavy to utter the words. But his mother sat, with her hands across her chest and staring at him, obviously waiting for him to explain everything to her since they were now in a place, away from their home. “I lost everything to Theresa Mo!” Lu Jingli blurted out.
