Theresa suddenly remembered. She was meeting Lu Jingli in court that day. But she felt tired. Her entire body was sore and her waist was burning hot within her.
“I’m weak and tired. You are so merciless” Theresa complained. He had to vent his desire on her and went too hot. She wondered how she was able to endure the torture and not passed out.
But he could stand and stare at her as if nothing happened. He was still as strong as usual.
“I will shower first and get you breakfast and lunch together. It was you who thought I wasn’t working hard enough and I have to show you how hardworking I can be” he retorted and laughed out loud.
Theresa Mo pouted her lips. Junxie never laughed this much before. He laughed so long? This is impressive. She had thought he didn’t know how to laugh so much.
Rosa wanted her mother to have her lunch. She had been on drip for hours and the one Lanre said should be administered to her was finished too.
She went to find Lanre in his office. He was done checking on a patient and handed a prescription to him for drugs at the pharmacy when Rosa knocked.
He asked that she come in. When she did, the patient was shaking hands with him and appreciating him for his kind gesture and patience towards his excess complaints.
Lanre smiled. He said he was paid to attend to him and he’s welcome anytime. The patient was an old man who looked to be a grandfather.
“Are you married?” The old man asked. Lanre chuckled and said no, he wasn’t. As he answered, his eyes locked with Rosa’s who was standing behind the old man.
“But are you engaged to any woman?” The old man asked further. “No, I am not engaged yet but I have someone I intend to get engaged to” Lanre answered, still looking cool and friendly.
“I have a beautiful granddaughter. I would have made you go on a blind date. She’s pure and kind hearted just like you” the old man said and turned to walk towards the door.
Lanre didn’t respond and chuckled. The old man walked out and shut the door behind him.
Lanre didn’t sit down but walked over to Rosa, who stood lost in her thoughts “Aunt is about to have her meal right?” He asked, raising his hand and looking at his wristwatch.
He had timed it already and knew her drip would have finished and needed to take her meal.
“Yes doctor”Rosa answered quickly and was leaving when Lanre pulled her back. Not expecting to be pulled, she lost balance and fell on his chest and their eyes were locked together.
Rosa remained in the same position and Lanre circled her waist. Both of them didn’t say anything until Lanre said ” We need to talk today”
“I don’t want to talk to you” Rosa replied and pulled away from him. “Your eyes said otherwise Rosa. So I will go with your eyes and not your words” Lanre said.
Rosa’s voice choked. She didn’t know what to say next but opened the door and went out. Was she the woman he told the man he intends to get engaged to?
Lanre followed her to check on her mother. She already looked strong and Even took a sitting position.
Lanre walked over and raised the bed spring up and she stayed more relaxed. “How are you feeling now Aunt?” He asked, looking into her eyes.
Rosa’s mother said she’s fine. Lanre smiled and said he expected her to be. She looked better and more lively.
Rosa brought the food and showed him. It’s light food as expected for a just recovering patient.
Porridge and vegetables. Lanre said it was fine but she should ensure that she eats more vegetables often in all her diets.
Though he was going to prescribe some supplements for her, different from the ones she has been using. When done, he asked where Hong is
Rosa said Hong went out a while ago but would be back soon. He said Ok and said he would prepare a sedative for her to rest.
True to what he said, Rosa’s mother finished her meal and she was given a pill. It wasn’t quite five minutes, she slept off.
Lanre came back and looked at Rosa “Let’s go for lunch” he asked. Rosa didn’t answer him. She can’t leave her Mother and go for lunch with Lanre.
Didn’t he pretend not to know her the evening before at the party? He was in the company of another woman and even kissed her lips.
” Your mom isn’t going to be awake for the next two hours and I already called Hong myself. He will be here soon.
Just then the door opened and Hong came in. ” I’m sorry doctor Lanre, I stayed a little longer to have lunch” Hong apologised.
” It’s ok. You came at the nick of time” Lanre replied and went over, pulling Rosa up and walking out with her.
Rosa didn’t protest but just followed him. Lanre circled his hands around her waist and walked out.
He held the door for her and Rosa slipped into the car. He walked over and took his place behind the steering.
” Where do you want us to go?” Lanre asked and Rosa said anywhere. He started the car and drove to the latest restaurant in town.
They had their lunch. Rosa wasn’t hungry, she seemed to only accompany Lanre there. She had longed to be close to him again and now, he asked her to come with him to lunch.
She had a soft drink and snacks but Lanre had fried rice. He kept cutting pieces of Chicken and feeding it to Rosa. She would take it and said nothing else.
Suddenly his cellphone rang. He looked at the called ID and answered ” Hello.. you found the information?.. Send it to my email please… You can take me on that.. thank you so much”
He smiled. His mother’s record was found. Everything about her. He feels really happy and great. Finally he would be able to trace his father.
He couldn’t eat anymore. He took a sip of the juice and stood up. Rosa followed him and he paid the bills.
“Is everything alright?” Rosa asked. This is the first time she felt like talking to him since they came out together. She saw excitement on his face and asked him the question.
“Everything is going to be fine,” Lanre replied. They got back into the car and Lanre glanced at Rosa, who sat quietly and looked straight ahead of her.
“Rosa,” he called her name softly and sighed “we broke up. But I don’t want to shift blame. I want you back!” Lanre declared. He didn’t start the ignition, but kept glancing at Rosa.
