“What would you like to take kids?” Junxie Li asked. He looked at the quietly seated boys through the rear view mirror.
The car seemed solemn. No one said anything to another. It was a total contrast to when they were coming a few hours ago.
“I don’t want anything, ” Tim answered. He looked at his father and their eyes locked. His dad doesn’t look happy either.
“Ok. What about you Lee?” Junxie Li asked. Lee didn’t even say anything, he just shook his head indicating he was fine.
That made Junxie’s heart sink deeper in disappointment. The boys are vibrant, happy boys who don’t take such questions lightly.
In the past, they would reply by naming a variety of snacks and yummy. But today, they don’t want anything. Kids have a soft spot and don’t hold grudges for a long time.
But they saw their mother sob. That has hurt them more than what Luciana said to them. He would repay this debt someday, he wouldn’t let it go unavenged.
As he drove close to the Mansion, he asked “do you think I don’t love you both?” Junxie Li asked, glancing at them at the rear view mirror.
He hadn’t said anything to Theresa. He would apologise to her when they arrive home. He doesn’t want to say anything while the kids are seated behind with a cold expression.
None of the boys answered him. He didn’t say anything again till they drove into the Mansion. He parked the car properly and stepped out.
He carried the boys down. Before he walked over to hold the door for Theresa, she opened the door and stepped out, walking past him into the mansion.
He walked behind the boys into the Mansion. “I will come over to explain a few things to you later. But now, I need to talk with your mummy” Junxie Li stated and kissed their temple.
The boys seemed satisfied when he said he was going to talk to their mummy. A faint smile crossed their lips and he followed them to their quarters.
He called the master of their house and told him not to let the kids out of his sight. No one is allowed to see or talk to them besides himself and Julia.
“What about madam?” The master of the kids quarters asked. Junxie Li gave him a frightening stare and he shivered. He was stupid to have asked the question.
” Yes, President Li. Only you and the second master can see them” he rephrased Junxie’s order and bowed his head not daring to raise it up.
Junxie Li turned and walked away. He quickly returned to the main mansion and headed straight to the bedroom.
He saw Theresa Mo pulling the zipper of her suitcase. She had changed from the polo and was dressed in a silk gown.
The polo was lying at the bottom of the trash bin in a corner of the room. He saw it and sighed.
“Are you going to leave me my love?” He asked.
Lanre arrived home. He shut the door and pulled out the documents. He saw it was a few papers stapled together. He perused it and went to get himself a glass of coffee.
He went to his study and took the documents, carefully reading through it. Some of the information was things he already knows.
The baby was brought to the orphanage a month old. The woman who brought the baby didn’t drop her information and identity.
Few days later, a large sum of money was paid into the account of the orphanage by an anonymous fellow and a letter soon followed that it was money used to buy the life of the child.
Investigation was made and the money was traced into the details of the sender. Only the director of the orphanage knew that fellow.
She wouldn’t reveal the identity of the fellow to anyone. Then one day, a woman came and claimed that the boy, now a few years old, is her son.
She was certain and even sob, yelled and pleaded that they return her son to her. She was denied and told to bring evidence of or proof of her ownership of the boy.
She said she would get a DNA report and a police permission to take her child away. But she never returned.
Few days later they heard the woman was dead. She was hit by a reckless driver and there was no one who came looking for the boy again.
Investigation showed that the director called a certain person as the woman left. The Matron saw him making a call and she eavesdropped on her conversation.
She claimed to hear her saying a woman came to search for the boy. What should they do? That was all the director said and what they heard next was that the woman was dead that same day she left the orphanage, infact within a few hours afterward.
But the person the director called was unknown. But she soon resigned afterwards and left. That was all they knew about the boy except when a certain couple came and adopted the little boy.
Lanre squinted. One thing is certain, he was abducted from his real parents. But why? Why would anyone want to hurt an innocent baby?
Is that woman truly his mother? Did she really die from an accident or was she murdered?
He found the name and address of the director. He was going to find her. He just had to find her and ask her what she knew about the little boy back then. She must know something that would be of help.
