Gabriel’s POV
I watched as my mate walked away from me and towards her family. For the first time, I saw my dad smiled at them. I stared at them, eyebrows almost met.
I looked at my mate once again and as she looked at me, I thought I heard her say in a faint voice, “Goodbye, mate.”
I followed her until their car was out of sight.
I felt our bond weakening. I got more confused. “That’s because of the rejection.” Keifer, my wolf, told me.
I can’t do this anymore!
I have always dreamed of my mate –to cherish and to hold her and to shower her with my love whoever o whatever she is.
That was when I met Ri and found out she was my mate. It took everything in my power to stop myself to go to her, hug her and kiss her.
I hate it when I hurt her and be the cause of her pain.
*Flashback*
“How are the problems with the rogues?” I heard dad asked me as soon as I got inside his office.
“They were just checking how strong our security is.” I told him.
He looked at me seriously. “Found your mate yet?”
“Nope, not yet!
“Good. Now, I want you to tell me who your mate is as soon as you find her.” He looked at me. “Make sure you just won’t mate with one of the Serenes.”
“Why is that? What’s wrong with them?”
“I don’t like them to be a part of the leaders.”
“Still it doesn’t make sense.”
“Simple, I don’t like them. And if ever you will be mated with one of them, I want you to reject her!”
“What? Why do I have to do that?”
“I already told you. I don’t want you to mingle with them.” He stood up and walked towards the window. “I want you to choose someone from the pack not anyone from the Serenes especially Rianne!
I don’t like them. I can’t seem to control them. I can’t seem to affect them. They get into my nerves that every time I see them, I always get irritated. I don’t have problem with Drake but his wife and children, yes!”
I only stared at him, trying to understand his explanation and weighing whether I will believe him or not.
“Just do what I want. Or better yet,” I was surprised to hear his Alpha tone. “If your mate will be a Serene, you are going to reject her and mate with the beta’s daughter, Tiffany! Is that clear?”
With his alpha tone giving the order, I only said, “yes.”
*End of Flashback*
As soon as I found out about Ri, my father ordered me to reject her and he then paired me to Tiffany to the delight of the latter. My wolf whimpered in sadness but I can’t disobey an Alpha’s order.
Now that I think of it, I have to end this! I have to take my stand and I have to fight for my mate. I want no other girl but her.
But for now, I will make everything right and I will start with Tiffany.
I faced Tiffany. Urgh, I really don’t like her.
“Look, Tiffany!” I told her seriously. “Let me get this clearly. You are not my girlfriend and will never be in the future. You are not the future Alpha-female so don’t go flaunting yourself and stop bullying others.”
I saw disbelief in what I have said.
“N-no! You don’t mean what you say.” She said as she wrapped her arms around my waist but I unhooked it.
“You’re just confused.” She held my face trying to let me look at her. “Look at me. This is me, babe, Tiffany, your girlfriend, your future Luna and your mate.”
“No, you’re not! You are not my mate! And you know you will never be. I have my own mate!” she smirked at me. “Yes, I have hurt her but I will make sure I will win her back!”
“What are you saying, babe? You don’t have a mate!” she stood up. “Besides, you already have me. Our mating is agreed by the Alpha and we’re only waiting for the right time. I am beautiful, popular and people like me. I know you like famous people so don’t tell me someone’s better than me. No one babe! And you are mine.
“Woah there!” I shook my head. “You may be everything you said you are but still I. DON’T. WANT. YOU simply because YOU. ARE. NOT. MY. MATE!” I was about to leave her alone when she shouted.
“No! You are not going to break up with me. I won’t allow it!”
“First of all,” I said in my alpha voice. My wolf suddenly got pissed with what she said. “-you don’t give permission here! Second of all, I just did! Now, stay away from me!” and I left her completely, still stunned with what had just happened.
I went towards our door. This time I had finally decided. I will win my mate back!
“Yes! And we need to hurry!”
“We will do what we need to do for her to forgive me and give me a chance!” I smiled as I thought of finally marking my mate, claiming her as mine!
A sudden blow of wind touched me. I don’t know what happened but as soon as it was gone, I felt my alpha wolf and even my human body became stronger. Hmm…Magic…
I thought of going to the Paine’s now but no. I need to settle everything first, especially with my Dad. I just can’t disobey an Alpha’s order.
“Yes you can. Didn’t you feel the power that came to you a while ago?” Keifer said inside me.
“Why? It really happened, didn’t it? Why did it happen?”
“I think it’s because of our mate. Remember, it happened after you decided to finally claim her.”
“How is that possible?”
“I don’t know. All I know, our mate is special. She has something more than meets our eyes. Haven’t you even noticed, she and her brothers aren’t even affected by your Dad’s alpha tone?”
“Yeah! I noticed it but I didn’t acknowledge it thinking it was just nothing.” I shrugged. “So are you sure we can be able to win against Dad?”
“YES!” he shouted on my mind excitedly.
“But it’s not yet the right time! I can’t challenge him! I am not that strong!” my voice is full of insecurity.
“Trust me!” he said in full confidence. Then he suddenly got serious. “And when do you think will be the right time? When we totally lose our mate?”
I felt him saddened at his words and I know my wolf is hurting.
That’s it!
“You’re right! But I can’t just challenge Dad.”
“Gabriel!” I heard my Dad called out to me in an angry voice. I flinched.
I looked at him as he approached me.
“What happened to Tiffany? Why was she crying?”
I can feel his anger and I understood him. Tiffany is like a daughter to him as she is the daughter of his Beta and bestfriend, Zachary and the niece of our third-in-command, Ralph.
“I ended anything that we have before we can go on to another level.” I told him calmly.
“What!?” I flinched at his loud voice. It’s like a bomb has exploded. “And why is that? I thought I have made myself clear. I want her for you. She is the right woman suitable to be your luna.”
“No, she is not! She is a selfish bitch.” I looked at him. “Besides, you know who my mate is, Dad! My mate who, because of you, I am about to lose.”
“It’s just right! She is not good for you. You need someone you can control; someone you can tame; and someone who can shift!”
“But she is my mate!”
“You can find another mate as long as she’s not from their old pack!”
I was shocked with what he said. He is the Alpha for goodness sake!
“I can’t believe you just said that, Dad. You of all people should know fairness and equality. You of all people should not impose discrimination within the pack! I mean, come on, your a fu**ing Alpha!” I shouted as I felt my anger on him.
“I just don’t like those kids!” he looked at his watch. “Now, I want you to prepare. Beta Zachary and his family will be here for a dinner before the pack meeting and I want you to make amends with Tiffany. I want to step down as Alpha and I want you to mate with her before I announced your engagement with her tonight at the meeting.”
“What!?” I exclaimed. “Did you just told me to mate with Tiffany?”
“Yes!” he said, now using his Alpha tone on me. “And that is an order.”
I felt the weight of the order trying to put me down but then I also felt the power that can defy him.
“NO.” My voice came out sternly.
He turned back to look at me. “Come again?”
“I said ‘NO!’ I won’t make amends with that bitch nor mate with her!”
Instantly, his hand hit my face. “How dare you defy my order?” He glared at me and I glared back at him, not showing any sign of surrender.
“Look away!” he ordered but I didn’t follow. I felt my wolf pushing hard , trying to surface.
“You’re challenging me then?”
“Yes!” my wolf answered as I felt his anger towards my Dad.
“No!” I heard my mom shouted in the background. I can’t do anything to stop. My wolf is already in control. “Stop it, Gabriel!”
My father had changed into his wolf and was already in a fighting stance. We continued to glare at each other while mom was shouting at the background.
I turned to look at my mom before looking back to my father. I was shocked when I saw him in front of me, his teeth lunged at my neck.
