The battle to fight evil with evil has always been my best tactics. But, if I need to win against a corrupt criminal like Zhin Feng, I have to do things the right way.
Since Zhin Feng had the District police Divison in on his payroll, I had to pull my strings. And thanks to my friends at the Verc, they were able to get me in corporation with the MJIB (Ministry of Justice Investigation Bureau) under the NSB (National Security Bureau).
It was also amazing how many people have been waiting to witness Zhin Feng running out of business, and I don’t blame them.
The bastard is a tyrant who have got lots of company owners in a neck choke for a long while now, and apparently those people have had enough.
Penelope tried to speak and convince to her father on my behalf to work with me, but he’s still being skeptical and doesn’t want to get involved in my plan.
But she didn’t stop. In fact, she went to her uncles who are in similar problem with Zhin Feng and have brought them on board.
Turns out that Zhin Feng lures these business owners with the promise of keeping the secret of their illegal importations, if they use Zhin T&T for their importations.
Which got me thinking that it’s impossible for Feng to conduct illegal importations for others and not do the same for himself. His victims might just be a cover up for what is really going on behind the scene.
What if the illegal importation is Feng’s deal in the first, which would be the reason why you can’t pull out once you’re in a deal with him. And that must be the same reason why he approached me with similar proposal- his way of getting me to fall in line. Who would want their illegal dealings getting out? But, this is just my speculations and guts feeling.
So far all I’ve got are testimonies of people who really did the crime. I just need one person- one person innocent of the crime Zhin Feng is accusing them of. Just that one testimony and my plan is set.
“Are you sure that restaurant is a first date material?” I asked playfully through the phone.
“Oh, trust me Mr Winfrey. This is far from being a date.” Penelope replied back.
I didn’t understand what she meant until I arrived at the restaurant around 7:54pm. I arrived to a wonderful surprise when I walked up to Penelope and found out she wasn’t alone.
In front of her backing me was a man, and for a moment there I found myself feeling jealous instantly. I finally got to them and that’s when I recognized who it was.
Xiang Lei stood up from his seat to greet me with a hand shake and I gladly responded. Although, I was disappointed- I thought tonight was just going to be Penelope and myself, brain-storming ideas of how to deal with the situation at hand.
The thought of being alone with her outside of the office- just the two of us, made my swell in excitement on my way here. So, you can only imagine my disappointment.
I don’t know why Lei chose to be here, but this better be good.
“Mr. Winfrey…” he started,
“Oh no, please call me Daniel. This is an informal meeting after all” I corrected, sending a glare at Penelope.
“Of course- Daniel. I would like to apologise for me and my father’s behavior the other day. We hastily dismissed you without properly weighing our options. And even though my father is still against the idea of working with you to fight against Zhin Feng, I for one person want to put an end to his intrusiveness in my family’s business. So, I’ve come to help you take him down.” Lei boldly stated.
I hoped this meeting would be good and so far it’s turning out great. I could help but smile and nod in approval.
“I’m so glad you have made this decision. And I promise I won’t let you nor your family down” I replied gleefully.
“Thank you…” he said before asking, “… so what’s the plan? Is there anything you might need from Ager? I’ll make sure I get it to you”.
I noticed a smile aboard Penelope’s lips and I enjoyed it. She must be very proud of her brother for trying to fight in getting back her freedom. Which made me wonder if she was equally as proud of me too.
“If there’s a way for me to prove that Ager didn’t intensionally purchase and import faulty parts for their production, then I might be able to clear your company’s name even if things go south.” I replied.
“Things going south? How do you mean?” Lei asked concerned and curious.
“Daniel got information that Zhin Feng is dealing in illegal importations in his port. So we plan to get the MJIB involved in this fight, even if our company and the companies of some Uncles might get caught in the cross fire.” Penelope explained on my behalf.
It was exciting to hear her use the word ‘we’ as she referred to the both of us. But I was also perplexed. It’s not my wish to get the Xiangs in trouble, and this is what Feng hope for too- that’s how he must have been getting away with his crimes. Because, if he goes down, so will every single client associated with his port.
“Oh, I see… so you need proof that Ager is a victim of a scam initiated by Zhin Feng?” Lei asked seeking clarification.
“Yes… If there is such proof, then my plan would surely work.” I replied in clarity.
“Our company have excelled all through the years because of our rich quality products and services. What happened was a mistake and I think there’s such a proof you mention, but only my father has access to it. If I can get it for you, what happens then?” Lei asked curiously.
“Then, I’ll make sure to prove Ager Automated as a scam victim. I might even be able to get your uncles out of their mess. All that’ll be left to do is to get our hands on Zhin Feng’s statement book which has all the information of the activities going on at Zhin T&T. Once I have that, the MJIB will then step in for a thorough investigation.” I answered confidently.
As soon as I finished my comment, we heard a familiar voice that interrupted our conversation.
“I can help with that…” Xiang Dao Ming replied from behind us.
