Chapter 79 Game Masters 5

Book:Married To My Sister's Husband Published:2024-5-1

“You haven’t eaten it yet, have you? Livy laced it with poison.” I blurted out in the presence of his Secretary.
Markian looked at me with angry eyes and orderes her to leave us alone. I rushed towards him and was about to grab the food from the table, but he reached for it first and collected it.
“Heather, what is the matter with you?!” He asked furiously.
I didn’t mind him, I just needed to get that food away from him.
“Markian… please listen to me. Have I ever lied to you, or joked about your well-being? Just this once, please hand that food over to me.” I pleaded helplessly.
“You are out of your mind. I can’t give this to you, Livy made it specially for me… Look, I know how you feel about her lately, but this is going a bit too far. Accusing her of poisoning my food, in the presence of my secretary?” He stated disappointedly.
“I’m not out of my mind, Livy is. And I’m not accusing her falsely, she told me herself that if I want to save you, I should come to your office and stop you from eating the lunch she prepared for you. Markian, she is truly insane… so please, hand that meal over to me so I can discard of it immediately.” I explained in a haste.
I prayed he’ll listen to me and do as I say just this once, but his stubbornness was just too much for him to understand what I was saying.
“That doesn’t even make sense. Livy can’t hurt me, she loves me. And even though it seems like she hates me now, she wouldn’t go as far as to poison me to make a point” he replied calmly with a smile.
“You do realize she tried to kill herself a week ago just to prove the point that she hates all of us, right?” I asked, baffled by his blinded love for Livy.
I heard the door swing open and looked to see Livy standing at the door. She looked distraught and out of her mind as she stared at me in horror.
“Livy, please. If you really laced the food with poison, ask Markian not to eat it, I beg you. I’ll do anything you want, I promise. Just… please” I pleaded earnestly, but she just kept staring at me with an empty emotionless eyes.
“Livy!” I yelled, trying to snap her back to reality.
“Livy? What’s wrong? Is everything ok?” Markian asked concerned- for her.
God… my head was starting to hurt and my mind was in a panic.
“I’m perfectly fine, you shouldn’t worry about me. Instead worry about yourself.” she stated as she looked at the food on Markian’s table.
I followed her eyes to the food and then looked at Markian, who also slowly turned his eyes from Livy to the meal box with food in it.
“Did you really lace this with poison?” Markian managed to asked sadly.
“Yes, I did.” Was all she answered.
I felt like really slapping the devil out of her, but I needed to get the food away from Markian first, I was having a very bad feeling.
So I ignored Livy who turned her eyes to her phone, and rushed as Markian over the table. I tried to pull the meal box from his hand, but Markian pulled it back even harder and I stumbled backwards with force.
“Would ending my life really make you happy?” Markian muttered sorrowfully, while Livy just stood there motionless.
Before I could regain my balance and reach for the meal box, Markian had already taken a spoon full of the food and chunked it down.
“No!” I yelled in terror, and that seemed to snap Livy back to reality.
She ran towards Markian’s side of the table but I pushed her away in anger.
“No, no, no, no… Markian what have you done? Someone call an ambulance!” I yelled as I saw Markian stumble and fell to the ground.
“Somebody call an ambulance! Please!” I continued to yelled, as I crouched on the floor and held Markian’s unconscious head on my laps.
I saw Markian’s secretary calling 911 and Livy standing in the corner, dazed and motionless.
She did this to Markian, I can’t believe she really tried to kill him. All along, I was hoping it was just one big silly prank she and Markian wanted to play on me, but it was not.
I couldn’t think straight, and all I wanted to do was to get Markian to the hospital immediately. I was crying my eyes out as more people came rushing into Markian’s office and aided me to get him outside.
I quickly called Daniel and told him what had happened, but he said he would meet me at the hospital, that it would be faster so, I should text him the particular hospital immediately we get there.
I glanced at Livy. Were those tears I was seeing in her eyes? My mind was scrabbles until the ambulance arrived few minutes later, and I headed to the hospital with Markian in the ambulance.
Could it really be that Livy has completely gone insane? Only a crazy person would cry while intensional hurting someone else.
I was completely disoriented and quite stressed but today, I’ve learned a valuable lesson.
Markian had really hoped Livy hadn’t poisoned the food, so he took a bite of it to prove to her that he trusted her more.
I’ll never put so much trust in any person as he put on Livy.

2 Hours Later
Livy finally arrived at the police station and made her statement. She was then taken to the question room where she saw Carlos Guillain seating opposite the table.
“It’s good to see you look awful and completely shattered.” Carlos said with a smirk.
“You don’t want to know what I’ve had to do just to be able to get you here. But I just want to know one thing… did I really kill Sophia?” She asked sternly, with pure hatred for this man sitting opposite her.
“Of course you did. And I can’t believe you and your mother covered up the truth, and you’ve been walking around freely all this years. I might be a criminal- I don’t deny it, but people like you who acts as saints are really the worst, because nobody ever suspects you.” He replied with equal disdain towards Livy.
“That’s because, people like me are smarter than people like you and can’t be caught easily, because we never leave behind any trail.” She replied vehemently with a smirk.
