Yolanda Taylor realized she’d been sitting inside the coffee shop for a long time when her cell phone rang.
More and more people were passing by outside the window, the end of the day had come and gone, and the mall was much busier than it had been in the afternoon.
She looked down at the caller ID on her cell phone, and it was as if her body was frozen with something, her whole body was stiff and motionless.
The cell phone screen lit up and dimmed, but soon lit up again.
It was still Gwen Fox calling.
She picked up her bag from the tabletop and got up, answering the phone as she walked outside, “I’m at the mall.”
“I know, I’ll come up and get you, wait for me in front of the cafe.”
Yolanda Taylor glanced at the two bodyguards that had been following her, “Uh-huh.”
She answered, hung up the phone and put it inside her bag, then stood there in front of the cafe and waited.
Gwen Fox soon came out of the elevator, and she looked at the tie she had tied for him this morning on his chest, a little stunned.
Gwen Fox saw Yolanda Taylor as soon as he stepped out of the elevator and subconsciously picked up his pace towards her.
He quickly stepped in front of her and raised his hand to take hers, “What did Xenia Davis tell you?” He looked down at her and Yolanda Taylor looked at him.
She looked at him for two seconds before she spoke, “Nothing, just apologized to me and said she didn’t know any better before.”
“Uh-huh.”
Gwen Fox didn’t care if Xenia Davis apologized or not, as far as he was concerned, if Xenia Davis didn’t know better and do something about it, he wasn’t going to let the Davis family cut her off this time.
He didn’t do anything last time because of the love between the two families for so many years.
There was one thing and not another, if she didn’t know better, then he would teach her to be a human being himself.
Yolanda Taylor looked down at her hand being held, she was in a mess inside her head, what Xenia Davis said was like a pendulum clock that kept ringing inside her head.
“It’s six o’clock, we’re going straight back to the villa.”
The two stopped in front of the elevator and Yolanda Taylor tilted her head to look at him, “Good.”
The elevator was a little crowded at this time of day, and the two went in first, Gwen Fox standing in front of her, facing her, her whole body in his arms, unable to touch her no matter how crowded the others were.
Yolanda Taylor stood there, feeling that her heart was hot for a while, and cold for a while.
She wanted to ask Gwen Fox if what Xenia Davis had said was true or not.
But she didn’t dare to ask, if the truth that Gwen Fox was an accomplice in her mom’s death made her despair, then the thing that Xenia Davis said just now was simply the abyss.
It was cold in Borden City, and today was Friday, so there were a lot of people coming out to eat, and the mall was bustling with activity this time of day, in contrast to the coldness of the day.
Gwen Fox led her out of the mall, and when the cold wind blew, Yolanda Taylor shivered subconsciously.
He noticed her hand shrink and couldn’t help but reach out and take her by the shoulders, “The car is in the parking lot across the street, it’ll be here soon.”
Yolanda Taylor nodded and subconsciously tightened her grip on his hand, she had never felt so cold.
“What’s wrong?” Noticing her movement, Gwen Fox frowned slightly and looked down at her.
“Nothing, just feeling a little cold.”
Her voice shook as she said this.
It was a bit windy today, and Gwen Fox only heard her say cold and didn’t notice anything wrong within her tone.
He inclined his head to look at her again, and saw that she really didn’t look very good, “I’ll carry you.”
Saying that, he suddenly stopped and let go of the hand holding her, then put it behind her waist and at the bend of her legs to directly pick her up in a horizontal hug.
Yolanda Taylor only felt the warmth inside her palms suddenly gone, and the next second she was being picked up.
The street was crowded with people, and Gwen Fox’s sudden princess hug startled the people on the sidewalk for a moment.
A girl whimpered and fumbled with the camera after seeing Gwen Fox’s face.
Yolanda Taylor subconsciously reached up and hooked her arms around his neck, pressing her cheek against his chest.
In the heat of the street, she could clearly hear his methodical heartbeat.
How could he do that to her when she thought he didn’t have a heart? Gwen Fox was tall and leggy and carried Yolanda Taylor across the street to the parking lot in no time.
The driver had already been waiting there, and when he saw Gwen Fox holding Yolanda Taylor, he thought that Yolanda Taylor was not feeling well, and hurriedly got out to help open the door: “President Fox, do you want to go to the hospital?”
“Back to the villa.”
Gwen Fox bent down and put Yolanda Taylor inside the car, only then did he see that there seemed to be water vapor inside Yolanda Taylor’s eyes.
He was stunned for a moment, “What?”
Yolanda Taylor huffed slightly, “I have an upset stomach, it’s a little hard.”
Gwen Fox pursed her lips slightly and lifted her leg to get in the car as well, “Wanna throw up?”
He turned sideways and looked straight at her.
Yolanda Taylor shook her head a little, “No, don’t you talk to me, I’m having a hard time.”
Her voice was choked as she said this.
After she said it, she tilted her head and looked out the car window, her hand in front of her heart.
Gwen Fox frowned and took out her cell phone to send a message to her family doctor before she told the driver to drive.
Because Yolanda Taylor said she wasn’t feeling well, Gwen Fox didn’t speak to her again on the way.
The car drove for ten minutes before suddenly braking.
He subconsciously reached out and hugged Yolanda Taylor, “Still uncomfortable?”
Yolanda Taylor looked at him and didn’t say anything.
Gwen Fox moved to her side and reached behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist, “Sleep against me for a while, there’s still fifteen minutes to go.”
He said, holding her face with his other hand to let her lean against his shoulder.
Yolanda Taylor still didn’t say anything, just followed the movement of his hand and leaned on his shoulder.
Fifteen minutes later the car was parked in front of the villa and the maids had just made dinner.
Gwen Fox got out of the car and walked around to it, and Yolanda Taylor was already out of the car herself.
Yolanda Taylor’s face was a little white in that not-so-bright light.
“Still having a hard time?”
“No more.”
She opened her mouth and lifted her legs to head inside the villa.
“Mr. Fox, Mrs. Fox, the meal is ready, so wash your hands and come to the table.”
The two had just turned out of the staircase when the maid came over.
Yolanda Taylor nodded, “I’ll go wash my hands.”
“Together.”
Gwen Fox followed her and looked at her for a moment, “Dear, did Xenia Davis say something else to you?”
The water just coming out of the faucet was cold, and Yolanda Taylor’s hands subconsciously cringed.
She glanced at the two people reflected inside the mirror, “No, don’t get any ideas.”
When the water finally warmed up out of the water, she put her own hand under and squeezed the hand sanitizer, looking down and carefully washing her hand.
Gwen Fox stared at her, “You’re not in a very good mood today.”
“A little uncomfortable.”
“I’ll have Dr. Harvey come over and have him take a look at it later after dinner.”
Yolanda Taylor nodded and smiled up at him, “I’ll wait for you at the table.”
“Eat first, no need to wait, I’ll be there soon.”
Gwen Fox’s brow softened as well, lifting a hand to gently touch her cheek.
