Chapter 234 Don’t You Give Up on Me

Book:Welcome To My Life Published:2024-6-3

Yolanda Taylor woke up while Gwen Fox was dressing her, and as soon as she opened her eyes she realized that she was in Gwen Fox’s arms with her entire body in his hands while he had her clothes in his hands, and with his other hand he was pulling on her hand to pull the clothes over her body.
As soon as she looked down she realized that she had nothing on underneath the covers, and the silk covers were cool against her body.
Yolanda Taylor moved to voluntarily slip her gloves inside the sleeves of the dress and then pulled hard, barely keeping them out of the way before reaching over to grab the pants from his hand, “I’ll put them on myself.”
Having just woken up, her voice was still a little raspy.
Gwen Fox let go, but still held her.
Yolanda Taylor was about to lift the covers when she realized that he was still sitting behind her holding her, the movement in her hand gave way and she looked back at him, “I need to put on my pants.”
He raised an eyebrow slightly, “Oh, I’m not looking.”
His eyebrows loosened as he said this, his whole body looking a little mediocre.
Yolanda Taylor was stunned for a moment, remembering that once upon a time he was like that.
She pursed her lips for a second and didn’t say anything else, except that she didn’t lift the covers either, but took her pants and went inside them, just using the covers to keep them off.
Gwen Fox sniffed down at the scent of her essential oils, eyes slightly closed, “Lavender?”
“Uh-huh.”
She answered, sidestepping out of his arms and straight out of bed, “There’s some sitting in the bathroom, you can use it if you like.”
The essential oils were brought back from overseas by one of her customers, Yolanda Taylor felt that the sleeping and calming effect was really good, and had been contacting that customer to help her buy them.
Gwen Fox also got out of bed and followed her downstairs.
The maid had already prepared dinner, turtle soup was simmering in the kitchen, Yolanda Taylor just went downstairs and smelled the fragrance.
She had been inside the detention center for the past few days, not so much without food, just without taste.
“I’ll have the maid bring up the food?”
Hearing Gwen Fox’s words, she looked back at him, “Uh-huh.”
She was suddenly meek, and Gwen Fox looked at her, but felt the trepidation in his heart grow more pronounced.
Yolanda Taylor had been locked up inside the detention center for five days, and when she came out she suddenly seemed like a different person to him.
Although she was still cold and pointless, she no longer refused to resist more things.
Gwen Fox’s hand from the inside of the hem of her clothes to reach in, looked down to see her slightly closed up eyes, suddenly lost interest.
He didn’t know why, he was just a little scared.
Gwen Fox withdrew his hand and lay down beside her, then reached down and hugged her tightly, “Dear, what are you thinking about again?”
In the past, he had always been able to see what she was thinking at a glance.
But since the fire, after more than three years, he found her again, only to find that she was no longer the Yolanda Taylor who put whatever was on her mind on her face.
He can’t read her, so he’s afraid.
Yolanda Taylor was actually very tired, and she didn’t really want to talk to Gwen Fox about divorce at this time.
But she looks at that ceiling and remembers what the rain brought back to her today, “I remember the summer of my junior year, it seemed like it rained this hard too. You told me one night before that day that you had a dinner date with Jerome Perot and the others, and told me to meet you downstairs after class. It rained as hard that day as it did this afternoon, and after class, when my classmates were waiting for the rain to stop or leaving when it died down, I ran out of the building with my umbrella in fear that you would be late.”
“When I got in the car, my shoes were wet and a good portion of my clothes were wet. I don’t remember much of that night, the only thing I do remember is that the air conditioning was so cold that day, so cold that for the first time I wondered if you actually didn’t love me.”
“Gwen Fox, there are so many things from the past that I thought I’d forgotten, but they always manage to pop up out of nowhere without notice. You may have forgotten, but I remember them all. A lot of things I didn’t care about at the time, but now I realize that you actually weren’t on to me at the time.”
There were so many, so many things that she hadn’t even noticed before, and now that she thought about it, she could see it all over again in something as small as taking a few steps.
Hearing her words only made Gwen Fox’s heart flutter, and he was suddenly afraid to listen to her any longer, “Dear, I love you.”
“Do you?”
She laughed a little, inclining her head to look at him, “In fact, to this day, I don’t even know if you love me more, or if you’re more resentful.” With that, she paused for a moment and looked at him and asked, word for word, “Gwen Fox, do you know?”
It was as if she had struck the snake on its seven inches, and he was the snake, instantly immobilized.
Was it more love, or was it more resentment?
Gwen Fox looked at her, and surprisingly he couldn’t answer that question either.
He knew he loved her and he knew he was resigned.
“I regretted coming back. In fact, my so-called revenge is nothing more than a carving in your eyes, it can’t hurt you at all, but it makes me disorganize myself.”
She had never thought about this before, probably because Heather’s departure had already made her think a bit more during those five clean days in the detention center.
She had been blinded before, seeing only hate but forgetting that she actually loved him even as much as she hated him.
Love and hate were intertwined, and it was she herself who suffered.
“Gwen Fox, just leave me alone, okay?”
She turned on her side and looked at him with tears all inside her eyes.
The words that came out of her mouth were tinged with a bit of pleading, like that day when she was embarrassed by Joel Smith and looked at him and asked if he could help her.
It was the softest she’d been in over a year, but it was also the sharpest.
Gwen Fox felt as if a bomb had been thrown into his head, and it exploded, causing his head to explode and his thoughts to go blank for a moment.
“No good.”
He gritted his teeth and raised his hand to help her wipe her tears, only it was trembling as he wiped more and more tears from Yolanda Taylor’s face.
He couldn’t look at her with those eyes looking at him like that, and Gwen Fox lifted her hand and pushed the person into her arms, “Dear, what is it going to take for you to forgive me?”
“I can’t do it, Gwen Fox, I can’t do it.”
She removed all pretense and confessed to him, not coldly or ignoring him, but more than coldly or ignoring him, he was overwhelmed.
It was as if she’d made an unthinkable decision, so now she didn’t care about pulling it off with him.
Gwen Fox was scared like never before, “I know it’s wrong, I really know it’s wrong, Dear, I’ll be good to you from now on, really, don’t you give up on me.”
His eyes were glowing red even as he said this.
Yolanda Taylor huffed deeply, “Gwen Fox, there’s the life of my mom between us.” “And what do you want me to do, what do you want me to do?!”
He asked her through clenched teeth, word for word.
But what did Yolanda Taylor know, between them, it was supposed to be over in that fire.
“Get a divorce, consider it the last thing I ask of you.”
“No way!”
He didn’t budge an inch, but Gwen Fox knew that Yolanda Taylor wasn’t negotiating with him anymore.
