The store Yolanda Taylor was talking about wasn’t far away, it was on the fourth floor of the plaza across the street, a French restaurant.
This time is not a weekend, there are not many people inside the store, only a few tables are occupied.
Inside the store, she pulled her hand back.
The two of them asked for a booth, and Gwen Fox sat across from her.
Yolanda Taylor had ordered takeout from the restaurant, ticked off two dishes and handed Gwen Fox the menu.
He gave her a look and added two more dishes.
The waitress left with the menu and the menu board, leaving the two of them on this side of the table.
Yolanda Taylor took a sip of lemonade, “They’re at the villa now?”
“I had Lewis put them up at the hotel.”
Hearing his words, Yolanda Taylor’s face turned a little cold, “I remember I told you before that our family is not on good terms with my grandmother’s family, I don’t know what you want.”
“Not a good hotel.”
Gwen Fox looked at her, after not seeing her for half a month, she seemed to have recuperated a little.
That sudden cold in January had caused her to lose five pounds in just a week, and he had planned to take her out on vacation for Christmas, but apparently Yolanda Taylor didn’t want to be with him.
The two had spent four days inside the villa like strangers, and they hadn’t stepped foot outside of the villa until she started working on her wedding.
Then he followed her around for a few more weddings, and despite having meals brought over every day, she hadn’t been able to nurse her spirit back to health.
After half a month away from him, she hadn’t just nourished herself back, she seemed to have gained a little more weight than before.
Gwen Fox knew why, and with him out of her sight, she even had a much better appetite than usual.
Hearing his words, Yolanda Taylor smiled coolly, “I don’t want any contact with them at all, and if you want to entertain them, that’s your business, not mine.”
Hearing her anger, Gwen Fox nodded, “I’ll let Lewis handle this.”
Yolanda Taylor glanced at him, she hadn’t seen Gwen Fox in half a month and now that she had seen him, she even lost her appetite.
“How long are you planning on staying over here?”
Gwen Fox asked out of the blue as she finished her meal.
She reached for a tissue and wiped the corners of her mouth before speaking, “April.”
“I’ll only give you one more week, and in a week’s time, after your store is renovated, you’ll be completely ready to open.”
Yolanda Taylor looked over at him, “What if I don’t?”
“Dear, you know, I’m not very patient, but in your case, I’ve given you plenty of patience.”
He looked at her in return, and the two just stared at each other until the waiter came by to refill the tea, and Yolanda Taylor withdrew her eyes and looked down at her cup, “I’ll be back next Wednesday.”
“Uh-huh.”
He responded, “Do you have a house over here?”
Yolanda Taylor startled at hearing him say that, “What do you want?”
“I’ll go back tomorrow.”
Gwen Fox made it clear that he was going to stay over here for the night today, to be with her.
Yolanda Taylor’s face went cold, “I’m staying at a hotel, that one isn’t very nice, I don’t think Young Master Fox could stand it.”
She hadn’t called him Young Master Fox for a long time, when she used to call him she was soft and gentle, her voice was mellow and full, coupled with her personality, she always had a settled gentleness when she spoke.
When she used to call him Young Master Fox, sometimes he was in a bad mood, and when she called him that, he didn’t even have a temper anymore.
She was calling him Young Master Fox now as well, but there was nothing but sarcasm and no trace of gentleness in that voice.
“If you can live with it, naturally I can too.”
Yolanda Taylor knew that he had made up his mind, she didn’t want to argue with him here, picking up her bag, “As you wish.”
After saying that, she just got up and left the restaurant.
Gwen Fox also got up and walked to the front desk to check out, he didn’t rush to chase her out, she wouldn’t run anywhere anyway, just back inside the store.
The weather in Robin City was similar to Borden City, and it still got dark early in March.
It was completely dark by about six in the evening.
Yolanda Taylor hung up the phone to call for the interview, loaded up the computer and carried it downstairs to go back to the hotel.
She just came out of the store and saw Gwen Fox standing at the streetlight on the side. The wind was still cold in March, and he was wearing a black overcoat facing her sideways, holding a cell phone in his right hand and a cigarette in his left hand.
Seeing her come out from inside the store, he lowered his head and smoked a cigarette, then said something to the person on the other end of the phone, hung up the phone, put the cell phone into his pocket, and threw the extinguished cigarette into the garbage can before lifting his leg and walking over, “Leaving?”
Yolanda Taylor gave him a look, didn’t say anything, and turned around to walk towards the main street.
The hotel she’d booked was nearby, not a bad class, but compared to the hotels Gwen Fox usually stayed in, she wasn’t exactly lying about noon today.
She didn’t say anything, so he followed her.
At rush hour after work, the road was full of food, and one side of the crosswalk was full of people.
There was a light drizzle in the sky, and it came down just after four o’clock.
Yolanda Taylor didn’t have an umbrella, and Gwen Fox didn’t have an umbrella, and all the people around her had umbrellas, so the two of them stood there naked, waiting for the green light.
It wasn’t raining hard, but the rain was cold on their faces.
Yolanda Taylor was still warm when she came out of the store, but after waiting at the light for ten seconds or so, her hands and feet were already stiff.
She subconsciously frowned when Gwen Fox’s hand came to shake it, and tried to pull her own out, but the green light was already on ahead of her.
“Let’s go.”
He finished, pulling her across the street.
Yolanda Taylor stumbled a little, watching his back, but finally relented.
There was a department store across the street, and Gwen Fox led her over to buy an umbrella.
Yolanda Taylor wanted to buy an umbrella of her own, but as soon as she grabbed one, Gwen Fox had already paid for it and was pulling her out of the store.
The transparent umbrella was opened with a bang, and the rain suddenly intensified, and the wind was strong.
Gwen Fox shoved the umbrella into her hand, “Hold on.”
She frowned for a moment, wondering what he was up to, and the next moment, Yolanda Taylor saw him take off his coat and drape it over her.
The coat smelled of his perfume, which was very faint, and cigarettes, which were also very faint.
But even lighter, it smelled of Gwen Fox all over it.
Yolanda Taylor reached out to rip the coat off, and he was already reaching to take the umbrella back, his other hand passing behind her and pressing on her shoulder, “Let’s go.”
“You let go of me!”
She struggled a bit, couldn’t break free, but was carried along by his strength.
The streets were crowded with people, and the two men were so tall and good looking that many people passing by gave a sideways glance.
Yolanda Taylor finally compromised and allowed him to wrap his arms around her and walk towards the hotel.
