The car was soon parked inside the villa’s garage, and Yolanda Taylor inclined her head at him, unbuckling her seatbelt and getting out of the car with her bag and the gifts she’d received tonight.
She was in the middle of opening her gifts when Gwen Fox came in.
When she saw him approaching, she just gave him a look and didn’t pay attention until a gift box appeared in front of her.
Yolanda Taylor paused slightly in her opening of the gifts as she looked up at him, “Gifts?”
She was really in a good mood tonight, so despite seeing him give her a gift, she didn’t cool down.
“Uh-huh.”
Gwen Fox answered, “From a jeweler the other day.”
Yolanda Taylor looked at him, skeptical of that.
She reached for it and unwrapped the gift right in front of him.
Inside were a pair of pearl earrings, not particularly expensive, just simple in style, and those two pearls had a nice luster that made them look quite nice.
She closed the box and looked up at him, “Thanks.”
Gwen Fox sat down beside her, but the two were always nearly a person’s length apart, “A gift from your staff?”
Some Yolanda Taylor had already opened, one was a very cute ornament and one was lipstick.
Gwen Fox glanced at the lipstick she had been holding in her hand, “Don’t women love lipstick?”
Hearing his words, Yolanda Taylor looked down at the lipstick in her hand, “Well, as long as you pick a popular color, you basically can’t go wrong with giving a woman lipstick for her birthday gift.”
“Hmm.”
He responded, not opening his mouth to bother her again.
It was one of the rare evenings that the two of them had spent together in peace since Yolanda Taylor had married him, and Gwen Fox wasn’t afraid to give an inch.
Yolanda Taylor opened the few presents she had and got up to see Gwen Fox still sitting there, she couldn’t help but look away, “Do you have anything else?”
“No.”
He shook his head, his dark eyes moving slightly as he watched her head inside with her gifts in her arms.
This New Year was still different for Yolanda Taylor than it had been in the past, she hadn’t expected the staff to help her celebrate her birthday.
The first day of the new year touched her to the core, a touch that even benefited Gwen Fox.
It was rare for her to cook and eat these days, Gwen Fox would be out of the country at this time of the year, but this year he had been holed up inside the villa.
Yolanda Taylor didn’t care where he was, as long as he didn’t go crazy, didn’t bring up things from the past, and didn’t move her, she didn’t want to fight with him every day.
The fourth day Yolanda Taylor began to busy, until the end of the month, she is considered to be a little free.
The New Year’s festivities were kind of over.
Gwen Fox was no longer at the villa all day or following her around.
Yolanda Taylor has been holding back these days, people are getting married, she doesn’t want to fight with Gwen Fox on their wedding day, destroying their mood and atmosphere.
Luckily, Gwen Fox seemed to be busy too.
Yolanda Taylor didn’t want to stay in the villa that trapped her like a cage, so she insisted on doing her designs in the store every day, even though the store was noisy every day.
As her studio became more and more famous, more and more customers came from outside the city, and some of them were even referred by Yolanda Taylor’s earlier clients in Oman City.
Yolanda Taylor didn’t like to take orders from outside the city because it was too much of a hassle in terms of labor and materials, but now she has started to take orders from outside the city so that she can have a legitimate reason to go out.
In March she was planning to open a branch over in Robin City as well, so she’d be running both places and Gwen Fox wouldn’t be able to stop her.
Her ridiculous marriage to Gwen Fox should never have lasted, but she couldn’t think of a way to end it, so she had to grind it out until he couldn’t take it anymore.
But she still underestimated Gwen Fox’s patience, once upon a time, but a little bit of bad will be able to turn the face of the person, but now even half of the temper is not.
Yolanda Taylor spent almost all of March in Robin City in order to open a branch there.
She didn’t really need to be here that long, but she didn’t want to go back.
Since she’s been in Robin City all this time, there’s been a rumor going around Borden City that Gwen Fox and her are not getting along and are separating and will be getting a divorce soon.
Yolanda Taylor just laughed when Primo Jones told her about it.
If this marriage between her and Gwen Fox could have a nasty separation and divorce, she wouldn’t have to run here.
“By the way, it seems like someone’s been asking about you lately.”
Hearing Primo Jones’ words, Yolanda Taylor couldn’t help but frown, “What kind of people?”
“People from Jaeger City’s side.”
Hearing the name Jaeger City, Yolanda Taylor’s face changed for a moment, she hadn’t been in contact with the people over there for a long time, and she didn’t expect them to be looking for her.
“It’s someone from my dad’s side, don’t mind them.”
Pry if you like, anyway, her father Kipling Taylor had turned into a pile of ashes, what they wanted was none of her business.
After hanging up the phone, Yolanda Taylor bowed her head for a moment before turning around and re-entering the store that was under renovation.
There was still a week left for the store to be completely renovated, and she planned to hire the staff in the next few days, so that the store would officially open in April.
It had been over half a month since she had come over here and Gwen Fox had called her a few times, she didn’t really want to talk to him so she basically hung up after less than a minute.
Yolanda Taylor was in the middle of a job posting when the decorator said someone was looking for her.
As soon as she looked up, she saw Gwen Fox, who she hadn’t seen in half a month.
She looked up at him, “What brings you over?”
“To see you.”
Gwen Fox looked down at her, his face a little cold, “Have you had lunch?”
“No.”
“Together?”
“I’m eating inside the store.”
He looked at the store for a moment, “There’s something I need to tell you, there are two people who have recently arrived at the house, they say they are your grandmother and your second uncle.”
Hearing him say that, Yolanda Taylor closed her computer, “There’s a restaurant nearby that’s pretty good.”
“Uh-huh.”
He looked at her and smiled.
Yolanda Taylor had just gotten up when he reached over to hold her.
She flinched her hand and looked at him with a bland expression, “What are you doing?”
“Holding you.”
The expression on his face didn’t change much when he said that.
“Gwen Fox.”
She called out to him faintly, and just as she was about to speak, he had spoken first, “Lately the media has been saying that we’re separating, and that we’re supposed to be getting divorced this year, so if you don’t want me to take you away from you today, I’d suggest that you condescend and give me your hand.”
I hadn’t seen him in half a month and he was smarter than ever, softening up.
Yolanda Taylor looked at him and the two went at it for about a minute before she finally gave in.
It wasn’t the first time Gwen Fox had held her, but it was the first time he’d held her in the last four years or so.
His hand, unlike his person, was warm in the palm, and her favorite thing about him used to be that every time she followed him out of the house, he would hold her.
After so many years, she realized that her heart was now as still as water.
Neither joyful nor irritated.
