Chapter 160 Just want to be a titular couple with him

Book:Welcome To My Life Published:2024-6-3

The truth was, Yolanda Taylor didn’t just want Gwen Fox to follow her back to her apartment, she didn’t want Gwen Fox to attend Dika Rothstein’s trial with her.
She hadn’t been back to the apartment in nearly a year, and when she pushed open the door, it was almost the same inside as it had been when she first left.
Dika Rothstein should have had someone check it out and clean it; the white couch was clean as a whistle and the floors weren’t collecting dust.
She went up to the second floor, and there were a lot of things in those cabinets on the lower level of the closet, all of them special knick-knacks that she had brought back from her travels outside.
She’d collected them with the intention of using them in her designs someday, and each one of them had a story to tell, and she’d boxed them up one by one.
Yolanda Taylor packed them in a big box, wrapped them in a big roll of transparent tape, and carried them downstairs to the delivery center to send them back to Borden City.
It was already past nine o’clock when she finished the delivery, and the courthouse was not far from here, so it was only about twenty minutes by taxi.
Yolanda Taylor took a cab directly to the courthouse, and as soon as she got out of the cab, she saw Gwen Fox standing next to the black sedan.
She couldn’t help but frown at the sight of him, “What brings you over?”
“It’s almost court time.”
There was a bit of traffic on the road, and by this time it was fifty past nine.
Yolanda Taylor didn’t argue with him any further and lifted her leg to walk inside the courtroom.
Quentin had arrived early, and Yolanda Taylor took her seat, with Dika Rothstein at the defense table, the plaintiff being the department.
Yolanda Taylor hadn’t seen Dika Rothstein for a month after that day; his hair was shaved flat and he seemed to have lost a little weight, but he looked in good spirits.
The judge called for silence, and soon the trial began.
This was Yolanda Taylor’s first time attending a trial, and she didn’t understand a lot of the specialized terms used by the lawyer.
The whole process lasted forty-five minutes, and there was enough evidence to prove that Dika Rothstein didn’t know that there was something wrong with that batch of goods, and there was also evidence to prove that that batch of goods had been switched in the middle of the trial.
The judge acquitted Dika Rothstein and released her on the spot.
Yolanda Taylor was relieved when the case was finalized.
Subconsciously, she got up and walked out to say congratulations to Dika Rothstein.
But just as she got up, she remembered that Gwen Fox was right beside her.
She looked down at him, “Aren’t you leaving yet?”
Gwen Fox got up at that moment, and the two of them walked out, Dika Rothstein was already walking toward them draped in the clothes Quentin had prepared, “What brings you over?”
Seeing her, Dika Rothstein raised an eyebrow for a moment before her eyes landed on Gwen Fox’s face, her face a little cold, “President Fox, long time no see.”
“Long time no see, Godfather of Dika.”
Dika Rothstein grunted and withdrew her gaze, looking back at Yolanda Taylor, “How many days are you planning on staying over here?”
“I have an afternoon flight back.”
Seeing as he was fine, there was no point in her staying over here for so long.
Dika Rothstein nodded, “Then I’ll meet you for lunch some other time when I’m free, so go back and pack up and have a nice lunch before you head to the airport.”
“Uh-huh.”
Yolanda Taylor answered, and the two parted directly in front of the courtroom.
She had come over to make sure Dika Rothstein was okay, not to catch up with Dika Rothstein.
Now that she had seen him released in court, she had nothing to worry about.
Yolanda Taylor glanced at Gwen Fox, “Back to the hotel.”
“Uh-huh.”
He answered and reached out to hold her, Yolanda Taylor avoided his hand and put it inside her coat pocket.
A crowd of reporters surrounded the two as they exited the airport.
The only questions asked were whether Yolanda Taylor was going to Oman City to save Dika Rothstein and whether Gwen Fox was following her there because she was worried that the two of them were rekindling their old relationship.
The questions were almost all centered around Yolanda Taylor, Gwen Fox, and Dika Rothstein, and Yolanda Taylor didn’t answer a single question.
Gwen Fox’s face was cold, and he looked slightly better as he forcefully led her by the hand and met up with the people who had come to pick them up, the reporters who had been stopped.
“Are you tired?”
He asked as they got into the car.
Yolanda Taylor inclined her head at him, “What’s the matter with you?” The two were married, but everyone knew what the truth was.
Gwen Fox wanted to reconnect with her, but Yolanda Taylor just wanted revenge.
“If you’re not tired, you can walk me back to the office, I’ll have a short meeting, and then we’ll have dinner.”
“I’d like to go to the store for a bit.”
It was nearing the end of the year, and the list inside the wedding store was growing.
“Hmm.”
Dark eyes flashed with a hint of disappointment, but Gwen Fox didn’t say anything.
The car soon stopped at the side of the pedestrian street, and Yolanda Taylor directly got out of the car.
She didn’t even say goodbye.
Gwen Fox watched her back until she went inside the store, then he let the driver drive. The car drove slowly and soon arrived downstairs at FG.
Gwen Fox had just come out from inside the elevator when Lewis had already handed him the proposal, “President Fox, this is the proposal for the high-speed rail station side this time.”
Borden City was going to build a high-speed rail south station, which was a big business for FG.
Of course, it wasn’t just FG that was competing for this project together, there were two other companies besides BEST Group.
However, the most competitive company is BEST Group, and the construction of the South Station has already started, and it is expected to be completed and put into use in thirteen months’ time.
Gwen Fox had rushed back for a meeting about the project.
Yolanda Taylor hadn’t been back to the studio for a few days, so she came back to get an overview of the past few days and the orders she had received so far.
She was the only planner in the store now, and these days made her feel like being the only one wasn’t enough, so the first thing she did when she came back was to have CoCo post the job openings.
After looking at the customer profiles, it was already 5:45 PM.
It was completely dark outside when the doorbell rang and a young couple walked in.
Yolanda Taylor looked over and tapped CoCo on the shoulder, “You greet the guests first.”
With that, she turned and went into her office, pulling out a large new list CoCo had taken on, and turned on her computer to look for relevant references.
She was still searching for information when Gwen Fox came over.
CoCo came in to tell her that Gwen Fox was here, and Yolanda Taylor’s hand on the mouse twitched.
She frowned a little and looked up to see the man walk in, “Still not done?”
Gwen Fox’s face was good-looking, but just because it was so good-looking, it had always given people the feeling of being cold and arrogant.
In the three years she had been with him, the number of times she had seen him smile was probably not as many as in the past six months.
He smiled faintly, rather than smiling, but said he simply tickled the corners of his lips.
“Okay.”
She saved the information and simply pulled the flash drive and grabbed her bag and got up, “You can go.”
She didn’t really want Gwen Fox inside her store, or rather, she didn’t want Gwen Fox to get too involved in her life.
She even just wanted to be a titular couple with him if she could.
