The elevator doors closed, and the smile on that receptionist’s face was completely gone.
The smile on Yolanda Taylor’s face also gradually faded, and she looked at the ever-changing numbers on the side, her face getting colder and colder.
“The elevator opened with a ding.
Just as the elevator door opened, Yolanda Taylor saw Gwen Fox’s secretary Lewis standing in the doorway: “Miss Taylor, President Fox is in a meeting, please go to his office and wait for a while.”
She nodded and followed him into Gwen Fox’s office.
This was the first time she entered Gwen Fox’s office, after three years with Gwen Fox, she had only come to FG to find Gwen Fox twice.
The first time was because her father, Kipling Taylor, needed life-saving money, and the second time was because it was his birthday and she wanted to give him a surprise.
Now that I think about it, both the first and second time, she looked like a joke.
Gwen Fox hadn’t even taken the “executive director” position yet, and the office was much smaller than that.
Now that FG is his, the office is more than double the size of the previous one.
Gwen Fox has always been a cool and unfeeling person, and the color of the office decoration can be said to be extremely consistent with his whole person.
Inside obviously turned on the heater, but still let her feel cold and chilly.
She sat down on the black leather sofa, Lewis’s secretary brought in refreshments, Yolanda Taylor said thank you but never moved.
The office door was soon pushed open and she looked up to see Gwen Fox in a black suit.
There was a coldness in his eyes, and as soon as he entered the door, he looked toward her, and the coldness in his eyes that he hadn’t had a chance to take back reminded her of the day four years ago when he had been absolutely ruthless and cold.
Yolanda Taylor stood up, “You have proof in your hands don’t you?”
“Well, you agreed to do the wedding?”
She wouldn’t let up and neither did he.
The two just stood there for a moment before Yolanda Taylor gritted her teeth, “I promise, but you have to give me the evidence!”
“As soon as our wedding is done before the first trial, I’ll have Lewis deliver the evidence.”
Yolanda Taylor’s entire body shuddered when she heard him say that, “You’re afraid I’ll go back on my word? Do you think I’m you, Gwen Fox?”
“I’m just more of a ten-percenter.”
He looked at the mockery inside her eyes and was a little overwhelmed, tilting his head to avoid Yolanda Taylor’s gaze, “Join us for dinner?”
“Do you think I have an appetite?”
She sneered, “Since you want to hand it over after the wedding is done, you’ll have the wedding in seven days, and I’m sure you’ve got it in you, Gwen Fox!”
Her words were sarcastic and she looked at him as if he were a scumbag.
Gwen Fox’s dark eyes rolled for a moment, the knot in his throat rolling as he swallowed the bitterness on the tip of his tongue, “The first trial is in February, we don’t have to be in such a hurry.”
He said, pausing, “I want to give you a satisfactory wedding.”
“I can’t be satisfied as long as I’m married to you.”
Yolanda Taylor picked up her bag off to the side and closed her eyes, suppressing her emotions, “Do what you like, and if something happens to Dika Rothstein, I won’t let you off the hook, Gwen Fox!”
“Wait!”
He reached out to stop him out of nowhere, Yolanda Taylor stopped and looked up at him, “What else doesn’t President Fox have to say?”
She calmed down, her tone soft and not half as emotional.
“I will not accept a separation after the wedding.”
“I ask you for one thing and you ask me for two, Gwen Fox, is that how you do business?”
“Deal?”
He frowned, seemingly puzzled and offended by this statement of hers.
Yolanda Taylor laughed a little, “What else did you think it was? Is it love?”
She said and paused, “Don’t be silly, Gwen Fox, that’s all you can do to force me to compromise.”
With that, she pushed his hand away and walked towards the door.
Yolanda Taylor’s hand had just reached the doorknob when Gwen Fox’s nonchalant voice came from behind her, “If I remember correctly, Dika Rothstein is supposed to be a street hustler by trade, right?”
She stiffened and turned back to look at him coldly, “What do you want?!”
“Don’t want to do anything, it’s not impossible if you have to have one thing for another. Eight years ago, he seems to have hit and killed a person in a car race, that year it was a payout, the recourse period has not yet expired, I don’t know if the family has the will to prosecute.”
This thing Yolanda Taylor heard, Dika Rothstein is not drag racing, is that year he was betrayed by someone, being chased and cut, late at night on that road should not have been someone, but there just happened to be a bumper, he stepped on the gas too late, and knocked the person flying.
He didn’t run away, and immediately called the police to take the man to the hospital, and just as he got there some relative of the man’s popped up, saying that he had killed someone and wanted him to pay for it.
Dika Rothstein a glance out of those people are asking for money, had to save up that little money to compensate for the matter, the results of three years later, the old man’s own daughter to find the door, said he wanted to sue him, but at that time he has a little bit of ability, realizing that three years ago they were pitched, young and vigorous unwilling to be taken again, looking for someone to warn a bit of the woman after the woman didn’t find again! After she warned the woman, she never came back to him.
Dika Rothstein later told the story with a sense of guilt, but the guilt was compounded by the resentment that the family had made a fool out of him.
He had been on the streets for many years, and knew that some people liked to come out in the middle of the night, and it was the right time to catch drunk drivers. Although the police were strict, many people took it lightly at night, but no one dared to call the police when they hit someone, so he almost always got away with it.
That person probably did not expect, the last time did not touch anything, on the contrary, is to lose a life.
Yolanda Taylor didn’t think Gwen Fox would know about it, and Dika Rothstein said few people knew about it back then.
Her face went white with anger, “What do you want?”
“What I want or don’t want is up to you, Dear.”
Listen!
What a grandiose statement he made!
But the truth?
Up to her? Have you ever seen someone holding a knife to your neck and telling you that it’s up to you whether you want to die or live? Who in their right mind would do such a thing, except a gangster? But not only did Gwen Fox do it, he did it with a lot of gusto.
Yolanda Taylor wanted to stab him with a knife, but she couldn’t. It was against the law.
She’d already done something stupid once four years ago, there was no way she was going to do it again four years later.
“You better not regret this, Gwen Fox!”
“I’ve only regretted one thing.”
He looked at her, and inside his dark eyes was remorse for the past.
Yolanda Taylor didn’t want to look, “There are no pills for regret in this world.”
With that said, she pulled the door open and walked out.
Lewis called out to her and Yolanda Taylor gave him a look, “Lewis is awesome!” Wasn’t it awesome that Dika Rothstein was able to dig up something that long ago? Lewis was unsure, thinking that he was talking about Dika Rothstein’s recent affairs, he subconsciously opened his mouth to explain, “Miss Taylor, actually it’s something that-” However, without waiting for him to finish, the elevator doors had already closed.
