Yolanda Taylor gasped and turned a little white as she listened to him twist the words around to say, “Mr. Fox that’s way too soon, maybe this is just a reprieve for Gwen Fox.”
“We’ll see then.”
With that, he handed the tablet to the man behind him, turned around, and left.
The iron door fell, and she was left alone again inside the large, abandoned warehouse.
It was already light outside, and she was tired, hungry and sleepy after being tossed around all night.
Probably because Gwen Fox’s last two words gave her a soothing effect, she unexpectedly fell asleep without realizing it.
When Yolanda Taylor woke up again, the iron door was pulled open again and the man came in with a box of food and threw it in front of her eyes, “Lunch.”
With that, he came around behind her and untied the knots in her body before getting up and walking out to pull the iron door closed.
Yolanda Taylor’s hands were free and she lifted her pant leg to look at her left foot, which had swollen at the ankle and was twice the size of her original ankle.
She touched it with her hand and realized it hurt like hell.
Yolanda Taylor didn’t dare move, and was only able to pick up her lunch box from the floor and eat with her head down.
When evening fell, someone came to deliver the meal once more.
The person guarding the door probably thought that she couldn’t run away, it was in the middle of nowhere, so they didn’t even pull that door down completely when they went out.
It was so cold at night that Yolanda Taylor ate her boxed lunch and dragged her swollen ankle to the door.
It was dark outside, and she couldn’t see anything.
The curtain was nearly thirty centimeters high, more than enough for her to get through.
However, she didn’t dare to act rashly, in case she was discovered, she didn’t know if the other party would directly kill her.
She hunkered down in that doorway for a while, waiting for about twenty minutes, and never heard anyone’s footsteps.
Yolanda Taylor boldly poked her head halfway out to look, and found that there was a small house on the right side of the warehouse, with lights on inside, but the wind was strong at night, and the door of that room was covered, so she could vaguely see the shadows of the lights pouring out, and the people inside should be the people who were guarding her.
It was getting darker by now, and Yolanda Taylor knew that this was probably her only chance to get out.
It wasn’t that she didn’t trust Gwen Fox, she just didn’t trust that uncle of Gwen Fox’s.
Instead of sitting around waiting to die, she should try.
But in the end it was her first time experiencing such a thing, so nervous that her hands were trembling, when she climbed out, because her left ankle was swollen, every time she used her strength she was in pain and her tears were spinning.
After climbing out, Yolanda Taylor gritted her teeth and ran.
The pain in her foot felt as if it could dig into her heart, but it was nothing compared to staying alive.
With a sudden bark, Yolanda Taylor stumbled two steps, and fell to the ground, her palm grazing the ground, the grit of the ground instantly wearing her palm down.
Her left foot hurt as if there was a needle in it, but the leashed dog barked at her one at a time, over and over.
A man’s voice came from behind her, “Why is the dog barking so hard?”
“What the fuck is going on, why is this door open?!”
Yolanda Taylor realized they’d found out she’d escaped, and she couldn’t care less about the pain in her palms and ankles as she ran up and dragged her legs forward.
But this place was so remote and the roads so bad that she had no idea where she was or where she was supposed to run.
The barking of the dogs behind her and the sound of men chasing after her terrified her and made her afraid to stop.
With the darkness around her, she couldn’t see anything and was only able to run by the color of the moon.
Suddenly, she heard a car.
Yolanda Taylor froze and realized that there was a road not far away!
If there was a road, there would be cars, and if there were cars, there would be people!
Realizing this, she gritted her teeth and ran dead ahead in the direction of the road.
The pain in her ankle came one by one, and her palms were on fire, but she looked at the light of the street lamp in front of her, and the desire to survive made her endure.
The icy wind kept whipping at her face, and unknown dangers lurked around her in the darkness.
Yolanda Taylor had never been so scared before, when a sudden burst came from behind her, “Try fucking running again!”
Hearing this voice, Yolanda Taylor panicked, her feet did not know what she stepped on, and her left foot, which was already broken, did not stand still, and she plunged straight to the side.
Next to a small dirt pit, Yolanda Taylor’s whole body fell down, her head hit the edge of the dirt pit, the intense pain made her vision instantly blurred down.
At the same time, not far away, a black sedan suddenly stopped, the sound of the brakes attracted a few men who were chasing Yolanda Taylor to look over, the white light came over, those men subconsciously raised their hands to block.
Gwen Fox got out of the car and ran straight over, catching one of the men: “Where is he?”
The person in front of him was cold and hostile, and the person who was caught was so shocked that he couldn’t even speak properly: “Ran, ran away.”
“Ran where?!”
Gwen Fox’s hand that caught his clothes kept tightening, the man couldn’t breathe because of the clothes, raised his hand and pointed to the right: “That, there.”
Gwen Fox let go and lifted her leg and kicked the man out of the way, getting up and running over to the side he was pointing at.
“Dear, I’m coming, where are you?”
He pulled out his cell phone and had just turned on his flashlight when he saw Yolanda Taylor, who had fallen inside the pit.
Gwen Fox jumped down into the pit in a hurry and picked her up.
“Dear?”
He looked down at Yolanda Taylor on the ground, her eyes red.
Gwen Fox whispered to her, but Yolanda Taylor didn’t say a word.
The fear from three years ago came back and he brought a shaking hand under Yolanda Taylor’s nose until he felt breath on his fingers and Gwen Fox sighed in relief.
He carefully picked Yolanda Taylor up and walked her to the car.
The two men guarding Yolanda Taylor had been detained by Gwen Fox’s men and Lewis glanced at Yolanda Taylor in Gwen Fox’s arms, “Young Master Fox, these men?”
“Send them to the police station.” His face was as cold as ice, and after he finished speaking, Gwen Fox carefully put Yolanda Taylor into the car.
It was then that he realized that Yolanda Taylor’s left foot was swollen.
Seeing the redness and swelling on her left foot, her black eyes sank.
Gwen Fox moved his hand for a while, but in the end, he didn’t touch Yolanda Taylor’s foot.
He carefully carried the person into his arms before looking at Lewis outside: “Lewis, come and drive.”
Hearing his words, Lewis rushed to get in the car.
He looked up at the rearview mirror, the fainted Yolanda Taylor was in Gwen Fox’s arms as if she was asleep, Gwen Fox had her head lowered and was meticulously fixing her messy hair.
Lewis was slightly startled, suddenly remembering the words Gwen Fox said on the day she left three years ago, “She’s gone, and it’s like I’m gone too.”
