Chapter 38: What You Have Coming at Me

Book:Welcome To My Life Published:2024-6-3

Yolanda Taylor didn’t know that Beth Garcia had spoken to Jerome Perot, and after she asked Beth Garcia to please her, she bought a plane ticket for 10:20 tomorrow morning.
When she got back to her apartment, Petra looked at her and said something.
Yolanda Taylor sat down on the couch and poured herself a glass of water before pulling out her tickets, “Mom, I already bought the tickets, the flight is at 10:20 tomorrow morning.”
“Yolanda, do you really have to go? Don’t you just love that Gwen Fox?”
Hearing her words, Yolanda Taylor froze for a moment, she leaned back towards the sofa and suddenly smiled, “But you’re right, he has a big family, what else can I do except to get some money from him? Do I really expect to marry into the Fox family?”
These words were all said when Petra asked her for money, now that Petra was listening, she felt embarrassed, “Yolanda, mom didn’t mean it like that, you’re so nice, how come-”
Yolanda Taylor inclined her head to look at her, “Mom, dad is gone, I’m just left with you now, don’t you want me too?”
“I, I didn’t mean it like that, I just-” guilt tumbled over her after sobriety, Petra raised her hand and slapped herself, “It’s my fault! It’s all my fault! If it wasn’t for me, you wouldn’t have to hold your head up in front of his eyes.”
Yolanda Taylor was stunned, and when she reacted, she raised her hand to shield her eyes, “In the beginning, he wanted me to be his lover.”
Even though there had been naivety, in the end it had all dissipated.
She didn’t want to mention the past, “Mom, take an early rest, I’ll sleep here tonight, you go up and sleep.”
“No, no need, Yolanda, you sleep on the bed, mom is too old to care about that, I’ll sleep on the sofa.”
“You take the bed.”
Yolanda Taylor was adamant, Petra couldn’t talk her down.
If it wasn’t for the gambling, Petra would have been a good mother.
But there were no ifs about anything, and she just hoped that, after tomorrow, everything would start over.
Yolanda Taylor got up and turned off the light, lay down on the couch and closed her eyes.
But she hadn’t slept well tonight, with all her complicated dreams of Gwen Fox choking her and trying to kill her, and Xenia Davis, holding her down and slapping her down, and finally Lamar Fox, his face devoid of pretense and left with mockery and disdain, as he pressed his cane against her shoulder and pressed down hard: ” Yolanda Taylor, we the Fox family don’t just let anything in.”
“Let go of-”
Waking with a start, she realized it was a dream.
Yolanda Taylor raised a hand and wiped her face; it was getting a little light outside the window.
On the stairs, Petra was coming down, and when she sat up, Petra was a little rattled, “Yolanda, did I wake you?”
Yolanda Taylor shook her head and took her cell phone aside and looked at it, it was after seven.
“It’s almost eight, I’ll pack up, let’s have breakfast and head to the airport.”
Petra nodded, “Okay.”
Yolanda Taylor glanced at Petra, pursed her lips, and still opened her mouth to say, “Mom, we’ll be able to live a good life in the future if we get out of here, and I’ll definitely work hard to earn money to support you.”
Hearing her words, Petra’s eyes instantly soured, “Good, I know our Yolanda is the best behaved.”
She hadn’t slept for the whole night last night, and when she remembered that these nearly five years had been muddled and the days weren’t days, Petra also regretted it.
If it hadn’t been for her, her Yolanda probably wouldn’t have had to bow down before the eyes of that Gwen Fox.
She’d always wanted her Yolanda to live like a princess, but she hadn’t wanted to be the one to drag her daughter into the abyss.
Yolanda Taylor had gotten up and gone upstairs to pack, and Petra wiped a tear from her eye and went into the bathroom to wash up.
Yolanda Taylor had nothing to pack, and a twenty-inch suitcase wouldn’t fit.
She only brought one set of clothes, and some skincare and cosmetics, and didn’t want anything else.
At eight thirty, the two mothers and daughters ate breakfast downstairs in the apartment.
Avoiding the rush hour, Yolanda Taylor took a taxi to the airport at 9:10am.
It had been a long time since the two of them had spent so much time together, ever since Petra’s gambling addiction.
Yolanda Taylor had to juggle Kipling Taylor and her studies, and at first she would go to Petra’s often, but later, after she became numb, she stopped.
It wouldn’t do any good to get back to Petra anyway, except to get cursed out by her.
Dika Rothstein woke her up, and after she left Borden City, she would never let Petra touch those things again.
The two mothers and daughters had their own thoughts, and there was silence all the way to the airport.
The car arrived at the airport at 9:40, a bit of a rush, Yolanda Taylor pulled Petra, “Mom, we have to go faster!”
Yolanda Taylor pulled Petra, “Mom, we have to go fast!” She had applied for the VIP service, so the security check would not take much time.
Yolanda Taylor dragged her suitcase and brought Petra to the airport, just when she reached the security checkpoint, she saw Gwen Fox standing there with someone.
Seeing Gwen Fox, Yolanda Taylor subconsciously took a step back.
Petra didn’t react for a moment and asked, “Yolanda, why don’t you go?”
She inclined her head to look over, only to realize that Yolanda Taylor’s face was frighteningly pale, and she was currently looking straight ahead to her right.
Petra followed her line of sight and was also shocked to see Gwen Fox, “Why is he here?”
Yolanda Taylor had no idea, either, why Gwen Fox was here.
She watched him walk over step by step, and the only thought in her mind was: escape!
But she couldn’t escape, she could only watch him walk over step by step.
Soon, Gwen Fox walked over to her, a face expressionless, but the dark eyes looked like they were trying to kill: “Our score is not yet settled, and you want to run?”
Yolanda Taylor was chilled by his look, she gritted her teeth, “Gwen Fox, what else do you want?!”
He didn’t say anything, he just took another step forward and raised his hand to clasp her chin, forcing her to look up at him, “Now you know you’re scared?”
Petra saw this and raised her hand to tug on Gwen Fox’s hand, “What are you doing! You let go of Yolanda!”
Gwen Fox shook Petra’s hand away as soon as she could, Petra was thrown back a few steps, seeing him looking at Yolanda Taylor as if she was going to swallow someone, she didn’t care about the pain, she rushed up again, “Gwen Fox! You let her go! You let go of my Yolanda!”
But this time, before the Petra people could touch Gwen Fox, they were held by Gwen Fox’s people first.
“Gwen Fox, what do you have at me, don’t you move my mom!”
“What a mother and son!”
He suddenly lowered his head and looked at her coldly from a distance of no more than a stone’s throw, “I can’t stand to see other people’s mothers being kind and filial, especially your family!”
He said, waving his hand at the person holding Petra: “Take it away!”
“What are you doing? !!! Gwen Fox!!! what are you doing?!”
Yolanda Taylor stepped forward and tried to push the men away, but she couldn’t.
After realizing that it was all about Gwen Fox, she yanked back on his collar, “Gwen Fox! Don’t you move my mom! I’m begging you, don’t touch her! My mom’s all I have left, my mom’s all I have left!”
She almost hissed, and a bunch of people surrounded her, but none of them dared to step forward when they touched Gwen Fox’s eyes.
“You’re left with your mom, so look what I’m left with, Yolanda Taylor?”
He finished, yanking her hand away as he walked straight away.
