Chapter 36 It’s all because of Gwen Fox

Book:Welcome To My Life Published:2024-6-3

The car was halfway down the road before Yolanda Taylor felt something was wrong, she inclined her head to look aside at Dika Rothstein, “Godfather of Dika, this is not the way back to my house.”
“I know.”
The man who was driving gave her a sidelong glance, “It’s eleven o’clock, you’re not having lunch?”
“I’ll just go back and cook a noodle.”
Dika Rothstein looked at her and smiled a little, “Behave yourself, it’s hard to believe that you just got out of the hospital and you want to go back again?”
Yolanda Taylor fell silent and didn’t say another word.
The things that had happened over the past few days, one after the other, one after the other, were pushing her limits.
Each time she thought she was having a hard enough time, but then something else would come along to make her suffer even more.
And it was all because of Gwen Fox.
She didn’t really want to think about him.
Yolanda Taylor withdrew her gaze and lowered her eyes to close them.
Dika Rothstein didn’t give her too much of a hard time and sent her back after lunch.
“Thanks.”
“That’s enough of that talk, go back and think about what I said, Gwen Fox is not a good man, I can get you and your mom out of here if you want.”
Needless to say, Dika Rothstein does know her.
Kipling Taylor was a cupped egg, and Yolanda Taylor didn’t want to dig any deeper than that when it came to how much his death had to do with Gwen Fox.
Gwen Fox’s mom and dad were killed in a car accident ten years ago, and at the end of the day, it really was them THE Taylor family that owed him.
She’s all that’s left of her mom now, but Petra’s already caught up inside the gamble, and the only way to do that is probably to take her out of Borden City and find a place to live again.
Dika Rothstein has everything rooted in this place, and yet he easily says he can take them away.
Yolanda Taylor is touched, if not moved.
She didn’t really know what she was doing here, her family wasn’t from Borden City, and if it wasn’t for Kipling Taylor’s job transfer, she probably wouldn’t have come here in the first place.
There are some ideas, once they are born, there is no way to stifle them.
She had been too naïve to think that she and Gwen Fox were really separated.
But this Borden City, no matter how much she tried to avoid it, there was still no way to completely detach herself from his life.
She had never wanted to leave before, probably because of the unwillingness in her heart.
But now that unwillingness has become a joke, she is still obsessed, in the end, it will only be self-inflicted damage.
When the sunlight from the window came in, Yolanda Taylor realized that she hadn’t slept for the whole night.
She raised her hand and wiped the corner of her eye, wiping the tear away before getting up and walking to the bathroom to wash up.
Dika Rothstein’s words had woken her up, and now that all the companies in Borden City had been passed over by the Davis family and the Fox family, there was no point in her staying.
Yolanda Taylor made up her mind to leave, and the first thing she did was find Petra.
She hadn’t contacted Petra since she left that early morning, and now it was no easy task to find her.
Since Petra’s addiction to gambling, she rarely stays home.
Not surprisingly, Yolanda Taylor makes a trip home with no luck at all.
But it’s not like she doesn’t have a way to find Petra. Before she was too lazy to look for her, but now that she’s determined to find someone, she soon finds someone to ask where Petra is.
Dika Rothstein had given orders that his people could no longer host Petra, so Petra wasn’t on Dika Rothstein’s turf.
This wasn’t the first time Yolanda Taylor had come to such a shady place, she had personally visited Petra several times back when she had first gotten into gambling.
At first Petra had some sense, and when she saw her crying, she’d gone home with her.
But over the years, Petra had lost her mind completely, and Yolanda Taylor didn’t expect to be able to convince her.
So Yolanda Taylor brought two helpers with her, only to be stopped just before she reached the front of the store, “This beautiful woman, what do you mean by bringing someone here?”
Although the other party’s words were polite, the expression on his face was not half polite.
Yolanda Taylor knew what the other party was thinking, “I came to look for my mom, don’t worry boss, I’m not here to cause trouble.”
The other party couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow when they heard her say this, “Who is your mom? I’ll see if the person is here, this if the person is not here, if you bring two people in like this, you can’t help but scare my guests.”
“Petra.”
Hearing her words, the man’s eyes flashed for a moment, but he quickly recovered, “Beautiful woman, this is really sorry, my place, not just anyone can go in, Petra this number of people ah, I really haven’t heard of it.”
Yolanda Taylor noticed the change in his expression just now, she remembered the wake-up call that Dika Rothstein had given her earlier, and her face cooled down, “It’s true that I don’t have the intention to make a scene today, but if you have to stop me from going in, then I’ll have no choice but to make a scene!”
Yolanda Taylor said this. There was no half-expression on her face.
When that man heard her words, he suddenly laughed: “Tsk, tsk, little girl, I see that you’re quite young, why do you have a net love for big words? Do you know who covers this place? You make trouble, you dare to make trouble?”
Yolanda Taylor naturally knows who is behind this, if not for the people behind, this place would have been terminated long ago.
But Yolanda Taylor also came here today with the iron will to take Petra away, she saw the other party’s oil and salt, so she had to take out her cell phone, “Then I’ll have to call the police!”
Once the man heard her words, his face changed for a moment, reaching out to grab the cell phone in Yolanda Taylor’s hand, but was stopped first by the person beside Yolanda Taylor.
Seeing how tough she was, the man had to let her in with a cold face.
Yolanda Taylor followed the man inside, just went in and smelled a big smoke odor.
This is a basement, no sunlight all year round, dark and dirty.
The further in you go, the louder the yelling gets.
Soon enough, Yolanda Taylor saw Petra.
She was standing in front of a gambling table, her hand slamming the table, her mouth screaming “big big big”, her eyes filled with red blood.
The result was “small”, Petra’s face immediately fell, after a few sighs, she gritted her teeth, her expression was very reluctant.
Yolanda Taylor didn’t go any further, she glanced at the two men beside her, and pointed at Petra in the center: “That’s the woman in the white t-shirt, you guys bring it out for me.”
The two men followed her hand and looked over, there weren’t many women at the gambling table and Yolanda Taylor looked a bit like Petra so they recognized which one it was right away.
Petra gritted her teeth and put all her bets on the table, she couldn’t believe she wouldn’t win this time!
But before she could open, she was suddenly lifted up by two men.
Petra always mixed in these places, more or less know a little thing, see suddenly someone to catch their own, she immediately changed her face: “two big brother, you are not looking for the wrong person? I just came over to have some fun, how can I still–”
“Why are you here?!”
Petra was in the middle of her sentence when her face changed after seeing Yolanda Taylor.
Yolanda Taylor didn’t answer her question, she directly ordered the two men, “Go!”
This kind of drama goes on almost every day, and the people inside are so used to it that Petra is taken away and no one stops her.
But Petra wasn’t happy, and while being carried away, she scolded Yolanda Taylor, “Yolanda Taylor! What are you doing to your mom? You get your people to let go of me! I’m telling you, I’m about to win big money, and when I do, you’ll get married with a big dowry, so the man won’t look down on you!”
Yolanda Taylor had heard these words no less than ten times.
At the beginning, she was a little touched, but later on, after she realized that it was just an excuse for Petra to go gambling, she became numb.
No matter what Petra said, Yolanda Taylor didn’t say a word, and she didn’t look back at her until she was out of the cul-de-sac and up on the storefront, but it was just a glance, with no intention of talking to her.
The two men were so strong that Petra couldn’t break free, seeing the man in charge, Petra hurriedly shouted, “Anu! Anu! You save me, what’s going on with you guys, how can you let someone come in and rob you properly!”
The man called Anu glanced at Yolanda Taylor and snorted at Petra, “Ms. Petra, your daughter is awesome, we wouldn’t dare stop her!”
Petra kept yelling and Yolanda Taylor got into the car like she couldn’t hear anything.
“Drive!”
She commanded and the car took off, Petra knew she couldn’t struggle and finally didn’t say another word.
