Yolanda Taylor’s phrase “ordinary friends” set off a huge wave, but the wave water couldn’t touch her, after all, she wasn’t in that circle.
The only thing that affected her was the fact that she’d been interviewing for a week, and she’d felt good about it, but then she’d been told to go home and wait for the news, and then nothing had happened.
Yolanda Taylor knew that there was no one else in Borden City who could give her an inch but Gwen Fox.
Of course, there was probably a lot of Xenia Davis in the mix, too.
After Yolanda Taylor realized this, she stopped interviewing.
She had a lot of money on her hands now, and if she didn’t splurge she could be quiet and carefree for the rest of her life.
However sometimes it wasn’t as if she kept a low profile and stayed out of trouble, after that day she pretty much shut down except for the interviews, and she turned down whoever it was that was asking her out.
But despite this, someone came to the door.
“Miss Taylor, Mr. Lamar Sr. would like to have you as a guest at the Fox family.”
Yolanda Taylor looked at the middle-aged man in front of her and pursed her lips for a second, “Then please Mr. Parker, wait a moment.”
Parker nodded his head, “Okay.”
The other party’s attitude was very good, as if they were really just inviting her to be a guest of the Fox family for a while.
However Yolanda Taylor knew that these people, all of them, were fond of sheepishness.
This wasn’t the first time Lamar Fox had asked her to go to the Fox family. Lamar Fox had asked Parker to “invite” her to the Fox family when she first got together with Gwen Fox.
That was the first time she went to the Fox family, and it was like she was entering the White House, looking at the grandeur of the Fox family, and for the first time she felt the difference in class.
Lamar Fox didn’t really say much that time, but just asked her how she was doing, and when she heard that her father was paralyzed in bed, Lamar Fox was kind enough to say that he would refer her to a specialist for a consultation.
Later, he heard that she was still in college, Lamar Fox also asked her about her future plans, asking her if she had any ideas about studying abroad, and if so, he could say hello to the leadership of their school.
Before leaving, Lamar Fox also gave her a pair of calligraphy works, it is said that Lamar Fox is also a calligrapher, seldom use the pen after making a fortune, his works in the outside world at least from six figures.
That day, Lamar Fox did nothing to shatter her ego by being a nice guy.
Gwen Fox didn’t know about that meeting, but after that, she began to realize the distance between her and Gwen Fox.
For three years, one thousand and ninety-nine days, she didn’t know how she had gone from having low self-esteem to ending up naively believing that love could defeat everything.
In the end, however, she proved to be nothing more than a joke.
Yolanda Taylor changed into a simple knit maxi dress with a short jacket over it and headed out the door.
“Miss Taylor just keeps getting prettier and prettier.”
She just smiled at Parker’s compliment.
Every one of these people from the Fox family wore a human skin.
Lamar Fox had approached her this time, thinking that it wouldn’t be as simple as that day three years ago, just a blow to her self-esteem.
When the car stopped, Yolanda Taylor inclined her head to look out the window.
Three years had passed, and THE Fox family’s villa was still as grand as ever.
If it wasn’t for Gwen Fox, she would have never had the chance to set foot in such a place in her life.
Parker came over and opened the car door for her, guiding her all the way inside.
There weren’t many people in the Fox family on a weekday, and Yolanda Taylor was quickly ushered in front of Lamar Fox’s study.
Parker knocked on his brow, “Old sir, Miss Taylor is here.”
“Come in.”
As soon as Lamar Fox’s words left his mouth, Parker pushed the door open.
Yolanda Taylor saw Lamar Fox sitting on that futon at a glance, three years had passed, Lamar Fox hadn’t changed much except for losing a little weight.
Noticing her line of sight, he inclined his head to look over and smiled at her, “Miss Taylor, long time no see.”
Yolanda Taylor walked over and took a seat across from him, “It’s been a while, Mr. Lamar Sr.”
Lamar Fox smiled and poured a cup of tea and handed it to her, “Try some.”
She was just about to take it, but Lamar Fox put it back, “Forgot that your current body is not suitable for tea.” Saying that, Lamar Fox glanced at Parker: “Parker, prepare a cup of red date tea for Miss Taylor.”
Yolanda Taylor withdrew her hand and looked at Lamar Fox across the table, “Old sir is polite.”
Her expression was flat and she seemed to have grown a lot since three years ago.
Lamar Fox looked at Yolanda Taylor in front of him and smiled, “You should have heard about Gwen and Miss Davis, right?”
The hand underneath Yolanda Taylor stiffened slightly, yet the expression on her face didn’t half change, “I’m sorry.”
“Good girl.”
Lamar Fox nodded his head a little, “Gwen he’s too intentional, marriage is a big deal, he thinks he can fool around, when he was engaged to Miss Davis I advised him to think it over, I didn’t expect him to break off the engagement only half a month after this, what a nonsense!”
Lamar Fox said this with a much more serious expression on his face and a bit of anger between his words, as if he was truly angered by Gwen Fox’s behavior.
Yet Yolanda Taylor knew that it was all just posturing for her.
She wasn’t the Yolanda Taylor of three years ago, and she wasn’t fooled by him that easily.
Yolanda Taylor laughed a little, “The old man is right, but my separation from Young Master Fox was the result of much deliberation on our part, and I think that’s something that Young Master Fox has thought about more than I have.”
She didn’t want to give him time to beat around the bush, so she got right to the point and made it clear what the topic of the day was.
Lamar Fox appeared to be stunned and looked at her with some regret in his eyes, “You’re a good kid, Gwen’s being too much of a jerk! I also just realized that you are pregnant, if you said earlier, I will not let Gwen fool around like this.”
Yolanda Taylor was still smiling, “It’s all in the past.”
“Miss Taylor can look at it so openly, it’s like living through it more than an old man like me.”
At this time, Parker came in with red date tea, Yolanda Taylor reached out and took it, said thank you, then looked down and sipped her tea, not picking up on Lamar Fox’s remark.
“But Gwen he’s acting too recklessly, so the old man in me took matters into my own hands for once, I hope you don’t mind Miss Taylor.”
Yolanda Taylor looked up at him, “What does the old man mean?”
No sooner had she spoken than Gwen Fox entered, “Grandpa, what did you want to see me about?”
Hearing his voice, Yolanda Taylor subconsciously looked up.
Gwen Fox was also looking at her, only that his black eyes were bottomless, as if they were an abyss, and if they fell in, they couldn’t get out.
Yolanda Taylor nodded her head as if nothing happened, “Young Master Fox.”
Gwen Fox looked at her and sneered, “Yolanda Taylor, I have underestimated you.”
“Gwen Fox!!! what kind of attitude is that!!! miss Taylor is my invited guest!”
Gwen Fox didn’t say anything, and Lamar Fox smiled apologetically at Yolanda Taylor, “Miss Taylor, I invited you here today, in fact, I wanted to ask, you and Gwen, is it really not possible anymore? You’ve been together for three years after all, and when Gwen wanted to get engaged to Miss Davis, I was very disapproving, and now that he’s called off the engagement, you’re actually-”
Yolanda Taylor was just about to open her mouth when she heard Gwen Fox’s words come from the sidelines, “I don’t know how the doors of THE Fox family are so easy to get into.”
The man’s words were like a sudden rainstorm of pearly needles that fell from the sky, so dense that they stabbed her all over her body.
