The following day, after work Mark went to the Anthony Group headquarters to visit his father. He didn’t notify him that he was coming. It was the first time he went to the Anthony Group; he approached the receptionist, Angela Brown and said, “I would like to see Mr Anthony.” Angela Brown looked at him she was stunned, she had never seen a handsome man like him before and said, “do you have an appointment Sir?” Mark replied, “I don’t have an appointment but if you call Mr Anthony and tell him that Mark is looking for him, he will allow me to see him.” Angela Brown sneered, “sorry Sir, I am not allowed to call the Chairman, not anyone can see our Chairman.” Mark shook his head and decided to call his dad.
At that moment Chairman Anthony was having a meeting with his managers in the conference room, each department manager was giving feedback, then the phone rang, the conference room became quiet. The managers looked at each other looking for a culprit. They saw the Chairman picked up his phone, he was shocked when he saw the caller ID. He answered it quickly and said, “hello son.” Mark replied, “hello dad I’m at the reception.” His father was surprised, it was the first time Mark took an initiative to approach him. “I am coming now.” Chairman told the managers that the meeting was adjourned and left in a hurry. The managers were stunned, the meeting started ten minutes ago.
He quickly took the elevator to the ground floor, he saw his son standing next to the reception counter, he couldn’t believe his eyes, he hugged his son. “Why didn’t you tell me that you are coming to the company today?” asked his father. Mark smiled at his father. Angela Brown was so scared that she would be fired, she apologized to the Chairman for not calling him. Timothy Anthony was so happy he ignored her and went to his office with his son. He was beaming and told the managers who was still standing outside the conference room dumbfounded that Mark was his son. They were stunned because they didn’t know that the Chairman had two sons, they knew his good for nothing son who always on scandals. They greeted Mark then the Chairman and Mark went to his office and sat on the sofa. He called his assistant, Deon Adams and asked him to make two cups of tea.
“Son I want to apologize to you about the way I treated you since you were born, please forgive me. When your mother died, I was so angry it seemed that your mother chose you over me. Every time I looked at you there was a hole in my heart, you took after your mother, even your smile reminds me of her. She was beautiful, I loved her with all my heart. I didn’t know how to handle it, I decided to remarry again hoping to forget the pain, but I failed. No one will take your mother’s place in my heart. I love you so much my son and I am proud of you. You are my heir, I didn’t ask you to come back to Anthony Group because Jonathan is a failure, but because you are my first born.” They both cried and held each other. Mark said, “I forgive you dad.”
Mark smiled at his father with tears in his eyes and said, “dad, I have someone I love; her name is Victoria Lewis. I love her with my soul, she completes me. I visited her father yesterday to ask for Victoria’s hand in marriage and he gave us his blessing. I promised Victoria that I will ask you to come with me, she wants us to reconcile. Dad if you are not busy on Saturday, will you be so kind to accompany me?” His father was astonished he didn’t know what to say, it was the first time his son asked him anything, he was so happy he became emotional. “Thanks son, I will surely come with you on Saturday, I will clear my calendar. You chose well my son; do you mind if I bring your brother, Jonathan and your stepmother?” asked his father cautiously. “I don’t mind dad; Victoria will be happy to see the whole family.” His father was beaming, he was so happy.
Mark looked at his father and said, “I’m not sure dad whether you already investigated Victoria, when Lewis Group was facing bankruptcy, Victoria’s father tried to commit suicide, Mr Johnson agreed to cooperate with him provided Victoria marry James. They were married for two years but he never touched her because he was in love with Serene Logan. They divorced two weeks ago. I love her so much dad, I want to spend the rest of my life with her.” His father was more impressed with Victoria, she was smart and matured. She was compatible with his son. “Let’s prepare betrothal gifts, I will give her His Wings restaurant as a bride gift.” Mark thanked his father and promised to fetch them on Saturday and left.
He went to the Lewis resident to see Victoria. “Good evening my love, how was your day?” asked Mark smiling. “Good evening honey, it was alright thanks for asking.” replied Victoria flashing him a bright smile. She was so happy to see him. Mark held her in his arms and kissed her for a long time, she nearly suffocated, she forgot to breathe, it was very nice. “I love you so much my sweetheart, I cannot wait for you to be my wife. My father will come with my stepmother and my brother on Saturday. Thanks for everything Victoria, you opened my eyes, now I will be able to share my happiness with my family. I will forever be grateful to you, my love.” Victoria was praying for Mark and his father to reconcile; she was over the moon when she heard that Mark’s family will visit them on Saturday. Victoria went to the kitchen and dished for Mark, after he ate, he left.
