Mateo’s expression was very agitated and his eyes were full of astonishment.
-Are you telling the truth? How could Jaime have been so bold as to do this to Grandfather? Is he crazy?
From what he had found out over the years, Alfredo treated Jaime like his own grandson, keeping him close to everything good first and doing everything he could to give Jaime what he wanted.
Even when Jaime offended the Santangel family, Alfredo never gave up on him.
How could Jaime dare, and how could he dare to do it to such a good old man?
Even if he had no kinship and didn’t take Alfredo’s feelings seriously, just out of interest he shouldn’t have done it.
The Dry Group was not yet Jaime’s, Alfredo was the one who could take command, and acting against Alfredo would be a great disadvantage to Jaime’s succession in the Dry Group.
Umberto, seeing that he knew what was at stake, said nonchalantly:
-What else could it be? Jaime sensed that Alfredo was looking for you, so he seized the opportunity.
Mateo’s lips twitched and he looked a little dazed.
-But what can I do? Even if the old man is looking for me, according to the relationship of so many years, Jaime?
-Your parents have raised him for many years, and he didn’t just set them up, send you away and take your name and identity. His selfishness and cruelty are engraved in his bones. Do you expect such a person to be kind to Alfredo? If so, then you are too naive.
Umberto’s incoherent words punctured Mateo’s entire self-esteem.
He kept brainwashing himself that Alfredo loved and protected Jaime, that Jaime respected Alfredo, and that there was no place for him to interfere with his grandchildren’s happiness and joy.
But now the truth was that Jaime had done that to Alfredo, who is now in the hospital, unconscious and not knowing if he will survive.
-That beast! -Mateo gritted his teeth, his eyes red.
Umberto played with Albina’s fingers and continued:
-Pedro is in charge of the Dry Group, but he’s not the only one who can do it. Mateo, don’t keep Alfredo waiting too long.
Sergio looked at Mateo with a benevolent face and added:
-We old people are in worse health every day and we don’t know when we’ll pass away in our sleep. If you leave late, I’m afraid Alfredo won’t be able to wait for that day.
-Yes, Alfredo is being kind to Jaime because that impostor is taking advantage of your identity,” Olivia also intervened. Son, I understand your aggravation at finally being able to return to Sogen City after all the work you’ve done and learning that Alfredo is keeping an eye on the impostor, but you should also understand Alfredo. He’s the one who’s hurt the most!
The grandson he had loved for so many years was an imposter, and not only that, but he had done it to him cruelly and without a shred of affection.
Alfredo doesn’t say it on the surface, but his heart must have been bitter.
Mateo bent his head in silence for a long moment and finally looked up.
-Yes, I will go back to the Seco family.
Grandfather is in a coma and if Jaime was allowed to do whatever he wanted, all of Alfredo’s hard work will go down the drain.
He should have at least stayed with the Seco Group and waited for grandfather to wake up before making other plans.
Umberto was already waiting for his answer, and there was no hint of change in his face. His beautiful eyes were still full of indifference.
-The hospital where Alfredo is is heavily guarded, and Jaime’s people are there, so I’ll see to it that you go in to see him in his room tonight.
Alfredo’s coma was so realistic that he would have been fooled had he not inadvertently discovered that Secretary Diaz had gone to identify the drug.
Since he already knew there was something wrong with the medicine, Umberto could not believe that Alfredo’s intelligence had not been prepared beforehand.
“I’m afraid Alfredo’s plan will be put into action when we arrange Mateo’s visit in the evening.”
Once Umberto had made the arrangements, he pulled Albina to her feet, and put his arms around his wife, swearing an oath of sovereignty and giving Mateo a cold look.
-Get some rest, and I’ll have someone drive you to the hospital later tonight.
Albina returned Mateo’s greeting and was led upstairs by Umberto by the hand.
The two of them, one in a cold, stiff suit, the other in a soft, flowing dress, one tall and the other short, made a perfect couple, and the atmosphere around them was very harmonious and beautiful.
Matthew watched the backs of the two of them, raised his eyebrow and finally lowered his gaze.
Olivia aggressively had the guest room cleaned and took Mateo with a very attentive attitude, arranging everything and patting him on the shoulder.
-Come on, make sure you fight Jaime and take back everything that belongs to you,” Olivia said with extreme fervor.
She had long regarded Jaime with disdain and dreamed of getting revenge on him, and now her chance had come. She seemed much more excited than Mateo, the man in question.
Mateo stared at her excited back. His mind reeled as he thought about the events of the night.
He was a little afraid of meeting Alfredo.
But now was not the time to be pretentious, he had to check on his grandfather and see what the progress was.
So Umberto pulled Albina back into the room and, just as the door closed, Albina felt her waist tighten and her whole body taken by Umberto’s arms.
-What are you doing, it’s hot! -she exclaimed and placed her palms against Umberto’s chest.
Umberto looked cold, but he had a much higher body temperature in summer than Albina, who was also intolerant to heat, especially after her pregnancy, and can’t stand half the heat.
-What a bad girl. You cling to me all winter, but push me away in summer.
Umberto said the words, but let go of her and turned on the air conditioner in the house and set it to the right temperature.
Only after everything was done, Umberto looked at her tenderly and congratulated her.
-How lucky you are, Albina, you found someone we all couldn’t find.
Albina blushed a little at his compliment.
-I’m not as good as you say, just….
As she spoke of it, she felt a little embarrassed. She had mistaken Mateo for beggars and had thrown a coin in his coffee.
Umberto couldn’t help but overhear Olivia talking about it and rubbed his long hair.
-Our Albina is kind, and the saying that good people get what they deserve is still true.
Mateo wouldn’t have followed Albina back to the Santangel family so easily if she hadn’t lent him a hand in the elevator.
And when he bought food for Albina, he happened to run into Secretary Diaz for a drug test.
It was all fate.
Umberto held Albina with a twinkle in his eye.
From Sergio’s description of Mateo’s appearance when he first entered the Santangel family, he feared he had just fled and had gone to Albina’s study at a clearly urgent moment.
This act had to mean something else.
Umberto let out a snort and was annoyed that there were so many people who wanted his Albina. It wasn’t enough that Miguel was leaving, but now Mateo was coming.
-What’s wrong with you? -Albina heard the growl and, sensing that Umberto was in a bad mood, raised her face to look at him.
From Umberto’s point of view, Albina’s face was the size of the palm of his hand. She had eaten well and slept well these days, even her skin was so soft it looked like that of a newborn baby, and her features were all perfect.
She was a beautiful girl, a consummate professional and a kind-hearted woman, and Umberto loved everything about her.
What he could find good, others could find good too, and they couldn’t even hide it.
Umberto thought, grabbing Albina’s cheek, squeezing and rubbing it, and kissing her fiercely on the lips.
-I wish I could make you smaller so I could put you in my coat pocket and only I could see you,” he said, his voice hoarse.
Albina did not understand his sudden mind, her cheeks scrubbed and her eyes looked at Umberto in a complicated way.
-So that’s what you like. Umberto, you’re a pervert….”.
Umberto was speechless.
“My wife seems to know too much.”
