At those words, Sergio snapped his eyes toward Umberto, and Olivia’s voice changed tone in surprise.
-Umberto, you, what are you saying?
Albina also took Umberto’s hand.
-Umberto, it’s not so serious, don’t be nervous.
She was the closest to Umberto and the most aware of his emotions.
Umberto’s body was now tense and his fingers trembled slightly as he pulled on her.
When she had found out she was pregnant, Umberto’s elation had been real to Albina. She knew he was very fond of the baby and was looking forward to it.
It took a lot of prodding to get him to say he didn’t want the baby.
Albina understood that he only cared about her, but….
She had a free hand and touched her belly. Although she hadn’t spent much time with this child yet and her belly wasn’t even bulging.
To this day she had a surreal feeling, as if she wasn’t pregnant, but that didn’t stop her from loving this child.
This child was the fruit of her love for Umberto, and she wanted to have him for sure, to hear him call her “mom” and Umberto “dad”.
She had dreamed of it.
If she had to abort the baby for this reason, she would be very sad and upset.
Umberto said nothing, he continued to stubbornly stare at the doctor, waiting for his answer.
The doctor had not thought that Mr. Santangel cared enough about his wife to not want the baby.
This turned his perceptions around and he looked at Umberto with some admiration.
He had seen many wealthy women before, and usually, when it came to this kind of problem, almost everyone opted to keep the baby, and no one paid any attention to the health of the pregnant woman.
Some pregnant women even valued the child they were carrying even more, because a child meant one more fortune for the family.
Mr. Santangel seemed much more reliable and responsible than the others.
Still, Mr. Santangel worried too much.
The doctor smiled and said reassuringly:
-Mr. Santangel, don’t worry, it’s not that serious yet. I just checked Madam and it is true that her health was bad before, but Madam has been eating regularly in the last few days and I just saw the kitchen making tonic soup, has she been drinking it in the last few days?
Olivia sniffed and nodded.
-Yes, because before Albina?
She unconsciously wanted to say something about Miguel, but thinking the doctor was an outsider, she hastily changed her words.
-Albina had a little scare earlier, so I’ve been making tonic soups for her. A bowl for lunch every day. These tonic soups, which I’ve asked a Chinese doctor about, nourish the qi and blood, and don’t have any ingredients that are bad for pregnant women.
The doctor smiled and nodded.
-A moment ago, when the lady was not yet at home, I also asked the cook, and indeed it is as you said, those tonic soups are all very good for the pregnant woman’s body, and then, together with the list I prescribed, her body will be much better.
Then she looked at Umberto and said with emphasis:
-What I just gave you is the worst case scenario, if you take good care of her, those things may not happen.
-Can they? -Umberto caught the word.
He didn’t want a “maybe”, he wanted to be 100% sure.
He didn’t want to lose Albina again. He didn’t want to see her suffering in a hospital bed, losing her life to have his child.
That was not what Umberto wanted to see.
The doctor’s head was spinning, he was just being conservative for insurance purposes. Who would have thought this Mr. Santangel would be so serious?
With his dark eyes on him, the doctor finally gritted his teeth and said:
-The lady will be fine.
If he stayed in the Santangel family and checked on Albina every day. He did not believe that with the Santangel family’s ability, and with his medical skills, he could not save the children and the adults.
The doctor was not the Santangel family’s family doctor, he was a well-known gynecologist that Sergio had asked to come back to help with the check-ups.
When he offered to stay with the Santangel family and monitor Albina’s health, he was unanimously welcomed by the whole family.
Umberto, in particular, immediately prepared a room and a consultation room for him, with all kinds of instruments for examinations and many herbs.
The doctor’s smile grew as he felt the attention of the Santangel family, and he went out of his way to attend to Albina.
Albina ate lunch and Olivia and Sergio took her to her room to rest. She had had such a dreadful day that Umberto, even when he saw that she was well, did not rush to kung fu, but escorted her back to her bedroom.
As soon as he entered, Umberto hugged her tightly, brushing his cheek against the back of her neck, and sighed heavily.
-Umberto… -Albina said in a soft voice as she stroked his hair.
Umberto moved and brushed his neck more intimately against hers, and said with his voice a little muffled with guilt:
-I’m sorry, Albina, I didn’t think what happened then would leave such serious after-effects.
Albina’s fingers paused for a moment, looking at him like a big sad dog. Her fingers did not hold back and rubbed his hair.
-Umberto, don’t blame yourself. Blame Yolanda and that David. It’s not that you pushed me into the river.
David was now dead and the only person they could take revenge on was Yolanda. The person who was behind the crime then.
Umberto suddenly remembered something, his eyes darkened and he looked up from his neck.
-By the way, Yolanda might be released from prison soon.
At this comment, Albina’s eyes were surprised.
-Huh? Didn’t she get two years? That’s not even a year.
-She saved someone in jail. There was a fire there and Yolanda saved some prisoners by herself.
Umberto’s voice was somber as he said this.
Albina frowned.
-Another fire, another rescue, Yolanda would be kind enough to do that?
Not to mention the fact that Albina was prejudiced against Yolanda, anyone who knew her well knew her true character. Greedy, selfish, and vicious.
How could she disregard her own life for the sake of others?
-You’re right, I don’t think Yolanda is that nice either.
Umberto snorted coldly. It seemed to him that Yolanda, after being shot down, had come to repeat the same trick.
-I suspect that the fire might have been self-directed by her, in order to reduce her sentence and be able to get out of jail.
Umberto said it with great certainty.
Albina also agreed very much with his words, and took a deep breath.
-So, could she have set the fire?
If that was the case, Yolanda was too ruthless. If she wasn’t careful, she would be buried along with herself.
If this woman was so cruel to herself, if she got out of prison, she might be even more insane in her revenge.
Albina frowned, a little worried.
Umberto looked at her and stroked her long hair.
-So, until Yolanda is totally subdued, try not to go out. Just take this opportunity to recover.
Albina paused for a moment, pursed her lips and gave him a cautious look.
-Well, what about my study?
Her pregnancy had come at the perfect time, and the studio was almost ready to be renovated.
It was a good time to be pregnant when the heat of Fashion Week hadn’t quite passed, but it was frustrating that she was.
Albina couldn’t help but wonder if she really was a bit unlucky.
Umberto looked at her with good humor and amusement.
-Are you still thinking about that?
Before getting engaged, he had given Albina his card and had put all his property and cars in her name.
It was fair to say that most of the women in Jerala City were now less wealthy than Albina.
Albina puffed out her cheeks in defiance.
-It’s your money. The studio is my business, it’s my dream.
Umberto pinched her cheeks helplessly, watched her skin redden with his, then released her painfully, rubbing her earlobes instead.
-Okay, I get it. Albina, are you forgetting that you’re not the only one doing the study? There’s also our mother.
Albina froze for a moment and looked at him quizzically.
Umberto smiled enigmatically.
-Don’t look at her as just wearing fancy clothes, going to parties and shopping with the ladies. Our mother has some serious tricks up her sleeve.
