Chapter 464: The aftermath of falling in the water

Book:The Blind Wife Published:2024-6-3

Albina had no idea that the person she had casually comforted was still waiting for her next encounter with her.
The driver helped her into the car and turned on the vehicle’s air conditioning before the choking sensation she had just suffered dissipated.
She was very calm, but she had also been frightened when the elevator first crashed.
But there was no one to save her at that moment, so she had to save herself. Fortunately, nothing happened and, although she was frightened, she was lucky not to get hurt.
She bowed her head and touched her flat belly, with tender eyes.
After such a large encounter, her stomach was only a little uncomfortable when she had just come out, and now it was much better, nothing unusual.
-The baby is very good, and he knows how to take care of his mother.
Her voice was soft and gentle. Even though he knew the baby was still a tiny embryo now, he was still happy to talk to his belly.
The driver climbed in and heard movement in the back, and a smile tugged at the corners of his mouth with joy.
His mistress had a big personality.
The driver had called the Santangel family in a panic when the elevator had been in an accident earlier and informed him of it.
So the two had just arrived at the house when they saw Olivia looking at the door, and when she saw the car, her eyes lit up furiously.
-Albina, are you hurt, does your stomach hurt, are you dizzy?
There was a series of questions.
Albina shook her head.
-I’m fine.
-How can you be all right? -Olivia looked at the dust on her clothes and the scrape on her knee. It must be hard to be suffocating in the elevator for over half an hour in the heat with no air circulation.
With that, she pulled Albina toward the house.
As soon as she entered, Albina was surprised by the presence of several doctors in white coats and some nurses standing in the room.
Sergio was sitting with a serious face and as soon as he saw Albina, he said to the doctor:
-Here she is, check my granddaughter-in-law.
Albina was made to cry and laugh by his nervous looks.
-Grandpa, there’s no need.
Olivia took his hand and said:
-It’s okay, let the doctor check. Sergio already likes you, and now you have his great-grandchildren in your belly, it’s normal for him to be nervous. Check it out so Sergio will feel at ease.
Albina obediently sat on the couch and allowed the doctor to undergo a brief examination.
After the examination, the doctor told Sergio:
-The baby is fine, just a little scared. He just needs a good rest.
Sergio nodded, his eyes still on the doctor.
-And my granddaughter? The most important thing is the mother’s health, why haven’t you said anything yet?
The doctor froze for a moment at his words.
He had asked about the Santangel family before and knew that this, now Mrs. Santangel, was a famous designer with little family background beyond that, and that she had just become engaged not long ago.
Not many people knew of her marriage to Umberto, and when the doctor ascertained that she was almost three months pregnant, he thought she had risen through the ranks of the Santangel family because his mother was pregnant with his child.
But when he saw Sergio’s condition, he was a bit confused.
It was clear that the Santangel family valued this girl and not just because of the baby she was carrying.
-The lady’s health is in good condition, although just a little weak. She must have fallen into the water earlier and hurt her body, she will have to take care of herself in the future,” he hastened to say.
Albina’s eyes looked at this doctor in surprise.
It was true that the one who had been invited by the Santangel family was a good doctor and he knew that she had fallen into the water before.
At the time when she and Umberto had just divorced, it had been freezing cold, and she had knelt in her mother’s cemetery for so long that the cold had entered her body, and then, pursued by David, she had no choice but to jump into the river.
It was a cold day and the river was freezing. That was also the day she grew a little weaker, and since then, she has been too busy with work and revenge to take care of herself.
The doctor’s words lifted Sergio and Olivia’s hearts.
-Is Albina’s health serious? How long will it take for her to recover? Will it be hard by the time the months get older? What do we need to do to prepare?
Olivia asked everything Sergio wanted to ask in a row.
Sergio nodded next to her.
-Yes, tell us, I’ll have someone take notes. What do we need to tone her body and what supplements do we need?
Albina sat on the couch and watched as the two asked questions around the doctor. Her eyes sparkled with laughter and the curves of her mouth heated up.
The doctor, his shirt collar askew, hurried to speak:
-Since you’ve both said so, I’ll be honest.
His voice was a bit serious and not only Olivia and Sergio tensed, but even Albina held her breath.
-I’m afraid that the lady’s health is even weaker than I thought, and I fear that in her previous state she would have had some difficulty in conceiving a child. Now that she is pregnant, I fear she will not have a good outcome either.
No sooner had the words left her mouth than there was a sudden noise at the door.
All eyes turned to Umberto, who was standing in the doorway, his face pale and dropping the cake he had bought for Albina.
He had rushed back after learning that Albina was trapped in the elevator. Who would have thought that he would find out from the doctor as soon as he walked in the door?
Instantly, his face went pale.
-You, what did you say?
The doctor, recognizing him, stood up hurriedly and shouted:
-Mr. Santangel?
Umberto stumbled a little on his feet, but hurried to approach the doctor, looking at him with reddened eyes.
-Repeat what you said.
He could not believe that anything could be wrong with Albina’s health. When he had examined her before, he had only known that Albina was weak, but not as serious as he had said.
The Santangel family had only thought that Albina had not kept up her nutrition before and had done their best to make her good food to supplement it, but why was this doctor saying something completely different?
In his mouth, Albina’s body seemed to be riddled with holes, which made Umberto’s heart flutter as he listened to him.
-Umberto, take it easy,” Albina got up from the couch and tried to calm Umberto down.
As a result, her hand clung tightly to Umberto’s, and Albina bowed her head. When she looked at the moisture in his eyes, she froze for a moment.
“Umberto is crying…?”
She said nothing, and wrapped her other hand around Umberto’s.
It was clearly summer and she did feel warm, but her hands and feet were cold. Before Umberto had only thought it was because her body was cold, but now that she had heard the doctor say it, she couldn’t tell how stifled and sad she felt at the memory.
She turned her head, her eyes sharp with crimson, and saw the doctor.
-Go on.
The doctor’s brow broke out in sweat at her gaze, and he wiped the sweat from his face.
-Mr. Santangel, don’t worry. The lady’s ability to conceive a child means that her body has recovered a lot, that’s a good sign. I will write a list of supplements and ways to support her later. As long as she recovers for a few months, she should be fine.
However, before finishing his words, the doctor added:
-But this is something that also depends on the constitution of the individual.
When the doctor said this, there was silence in the room.
Umberto warmed Albina’s hands and hung his head slightly, with his forehead covering his eyes.
After a long moment, he raised his head and looked at the doctor with a different look. His voice was hoarse as he asked:
-If the body is not well nourished, could there be problems later on, or when the baby is born?
Several pairs of eyes instantly focused on the doctor.
The doctor was sweating nervously, but still said sincerely:
-Pregnancy is difficult and the various reactions of pregnancy are more severe?
He hesitated for a moment and said through gritted teeth:
-It would be a miscarriage, or a difficult childbirth…..
Umberto suddenly blushed even more, and his grip on Albina’s hand tightened a little.
Olivia and Sergio’s faces were hard, and Albina looked sadly at her stomach.
She had thought that with this baby, she and Umberto had reached the end of their misery, but she had never imagined that what had happened before would leave such serious after-effects.
Albina pursed her lips, hating Yolanda’s family even more.
-If we take these few months and give Albina a good tonic? -Olivia was anxious to say something.
Suddenly, Umberto, who had just been silent, took the floor and looked at the doctor with a touch of melancholy in his eyes.
-Doctor, if we don’t have this baby and we give Albina a good medication to tone up her body, will she get better faster?
