Chapter 451: He can’t know the truth

Book:The Blind Wife Published:2024-6-3

As Umberto and Albina headed for the door, Alfredo came out of his memories, his eyes a little red, and looked at them with a little more compassion.
-Are you back? Are you all right?
Alfredo had a kind face, and Umberto and Albina were not angry with him because of Jaime, so they nodded and told him kindly:
-We are much better, thank you for your concern.
Seeing Umberto’s understanding and polite look, Alfredo remembered again Jaime’s crazed face and sighed.
Jaime really was useless.
As they were talking, Sergio reached over and gently pushed Umberto’s back.
-Go upstairs and take Albina to wash up, it’s a hot day and you’ve sweated a lot on the way back. When you come back from the hospital, it’s more important that you wash and change your clothes to get rid of the bad luck.
Umberto turned his head and saw Sergio wink at him. He nodded, greeted Alfredo and led Albina upstairs.
They both cleaned up and when Albina came out of the bathroom, she saw Umberto with the paternity certificate ready to go downstairs.
-Umberto!
Albina shouted, Umberto looked back at her and smiled.
-Dry your hair and rest in the room for a while, I’ll join you later.
With that, he turned and walked out the door.
Albina dried her hair and smiled a little.
Jaime was unrepentant and had set them up many times. When he couldn’t fight, he used tricks in secret, it was time to teach him a lesson.
He didn’t know how he was going to continue to be arrogant after his position in the Seco Family was taken away from him.
Sergio sat back down across from Alfredo as they went upstairs.
With the rest of the Santangel Family back, it wasn’t good for Alfredo to gossip with him. The family scandal was not to be known, so it was enough that Sergio knew about it. He couldn’t let the rest of the Santangel Family make fun of him.
So Alfredo said goodbye.
-It’s getting late, we’d better…..
Before he finished speaking, Sergio made a gesture towards him.
-Don’t hurry, I have a present for you.
-What present? -Alfredo was full of doubts.
Sergio took a sip of tea and then looked at him. Alfredo suddenly had a bad feeling.
-I didn’t explain myself well at Jaime’s engagement party. At first I didn’t want to interfere too much in your family’s affairs and I gave you a hint to find out for yourself, but you didn’t think much of it. I just heard what you said and I think it’s time to tell you.
Alfredo frowned.
-What are you trying to say? Give it to me straight.
He was really anxious, but at the moment he couldn’t remember what Sergio had actually said on the day of the banquet. A lot had happened these days and Jaime was still misbehaving, and now his mind was in a mess.
-I said that Jaime was nothing like your son and that he had not inherited the good qualities of the Seco Family at all. Alfredo, you were deceived.
Alfredo was stunned for a moment.
-What exactly do you mean by that? Clarify.
Hearing footsteps on the upper floor, Sergio looked up and saw Umberto coming down with a document in his hand.
Only then did he raise his chin to Alfredo.
-The gift I want to give you is in his hand.
Alfredo looked in the direction he pointed and saw Umberto.
-What are you trying to say?
Umberto approached him and handed him the document.
-Read this document first, and you will understand.
Alfredo frowned as he received the document and opened it. He froze when he looked at the first page.
-A paternity test?
He lost his voice a little as he saw his and Jaime’s name on it, and vaguely guessing at the result.
Skimming over the data analysis, she raised her trembling hand and turned directly to the last page.
Seeing the result, she paused for a moment, then collapsed on the couch. His face was pale, his fingers clutched his shirt to his chest, and his breathing sounded extremely heavy.
Sergio and Umberto had been watching him, and seeing this, they hastened to say:
-Hurry, check if he’s all right!
The doctor, previously summoned, approached with the emergency kit and was about to check when he saw Alfredo raise his hand.
-It’s not necessary. I just got a little excited, I’m much better now.
His face was still pale, but his breathing was much better. Alfredo got up from the sofa with difficulty, with an extremely bad expression.
Sergio made a gesture to indicate the doctor to leave, leaving the three of them in the large living room.
Alfredo gripped the paternity test tightly, his eyes red-rimmed.
-How did you get it?!
Umberto stopped talking and looked at Sergio.
Sergio coughed slightly and explained:
-Jaime tried to harm Umberto before, so I thought he was evil. How could your family have such vicious offspring? I was so angry that I wanted to look into it.
Umberto was a little surprised, Sergio’s lie was a little far-fetched, but it made a little sense.
Alfredo lowered his head, not knowing whether to believe him or not, then he said in a hoarse voice:
-It’s been so long, why are you telling me now?
Sergio shook his head before saying:
-I thought about telling you when I found out, but for sure you wouldn’t even look at it like you did a moment ago. How would I dare to bring it up when you have accepted so many shameful conditions for Jaime? If I had told you at the time, you wouldn’t have been able to accept it and let the Seco Family’s years of accumulation fall into his hands.
Then he touched his nose.
-Now you too have recognized him for what he is and are disappointed in him. It won’t bother you too much if I tell you now. Look, aren’t you relaxed anymore?
Alfredo was silent for a long time, but he had to admit that what Sergio said was really right.
At that moment, he was really fond of Jaime and had high hopes for him. If he had found out that Jaime was not his grandson, it would have been really hard for him to accept it.
Maybe if Jaime played pious, he would actually give him the Seco Family property in a moment of confusion.
Seconds later, Umberto also spoke.
-Alfredo, we don’t know what to do with this paternity test, so we’re turning it over to you. It’s your family matter. Don’t worry, we won’t make it public until you’ve made a decision.
Sergio nodded.
-Umberto and I aren’t the type to talk too much, so don’t worry. If you have doubts about this appraisal, you can look into it again. We would never falsify something like this.
Alfredo looked up after a long moment and smiled reluctantly.
-I know you, you would never do that. I just have some difficulty accepting it.
When Jaime first came, he brought a picture of them and a personal letter from his son, which also mentioned Jaime’s name.
He didn’t even suspect the letter, so he didn’t do a paternity test, so Jaime took the opportunity to become his grandson.
At the time, Jaime seized this idea.
At the time, Jaime was only eight years old, but a child of that age was already that poisonous. Only now did Alfredo realize that he had raised a wolf for so many years.
It wasn’t that Alfredo hadn’t raised Jaime right, but that he had been that way since he was a child and there was no way to change it.
Alfredo’s face was a little mean as he got up on his crutches.
-I have to go back.
I had to think hard about what to do with Jaime.
